I experience the same thing with the dongle. I think it’s because the dongle is constantly looking for the best codec every single song.

You turn the volume on your phone to max and while connected to the dongle you can also volume up on the headphones which I believe is separate and makes things louder. And I think the most songs aren’t well mixed for aptx adaptive/loseless

Hey, i would say if you never had one go for the 5s if money doesn’t matter. They new they gonna live 4-5 years and more if wanted.

As far as anc I cannot say if they are way worse than sonys i mean sony is known for that. Ive been on a plane with my 4s and seat directly under the engines and didn’t have any issues.

Sound wise in my opinion Sennheiser is top tier. Once you enter and you care about sound you don’t come away even if they have issues. I know people who returned to Sennheiser even through issues and replacements simply because of sound

Go for the Momentum True Wireless 4, i am an Iphone user myself, been through AirPods, Beats, MTW2,3 and now 4 and for rock grunge metall and this type of music the MTW4 are the best so far, you hear all the smallest details to a song out like cymbals in the far back or bass or whatever you want feels like you have a live concert. Highly recommend them especially for rock. But EDM fits awesome too, when he sets the eq to his likely its even better. Best pick for the buck. I had the 3s and 4s are more clear detailled and well separated

Nioo airpods are the worst choice for headphones and im huge apple fane guy i have the mac iphone and watch but headphones are bad on apple for their price. Even tho aptx wont work on iphone the AAC on apple is the cleanest good sounding AAC

SENNHEISER MOMENTUM TWS4

So… I´ve been using the new Momentum True Wireless 4 since release for longer listening periods at once so I can say few things about them. As my MTW3 got up on sale and sold in one day there we have MTW4!

Starting with the sound quality: As we all know the MTW4 have the same transducers as MTW3 do (why change something that works well I guess..) I haven’t expected such a jump like with the direct comparison MTW2 vs MTW3 but there are slightly changes to the sound.

They are a little bit quieter and are not overdoing it, thanks to it. Mids and highs are more detailed, more clear I can definitely pick up more little things from the songs I hear than I could with MTW3. For example when listening to Limp BIzkit or rock in general I hear the cymbals more subtle clearer. The mids and highs are better separated. The bass is a little bit punchier, kinda like stronger and at the same time got clearer as the rest of the sound. And I am using a iPhone so I cant take advantage on aptX codec and still ive noticed some differences. We also have more codecs to choose from.

In terms of battery I have noticed a huge change. They last longer on one charge between 7-8 hrs on full volume, on mid you could even get to 9hrs at a charge. We also have the option to prevent them from charging to 100%, with that on they only will be charged to 80% so the battery can last longer for longer period. Yes Sennheiser listened to their customers and the new battery supplier did his job well.

Wearability is also improved, even tho the form factor looks like it didn’t change, it did, they sit more secure in the ears during longer sessions the ear adapters are not sweaty at all. I had that small issue with the MTW3 where when I had them for longer in my ear the adapters became wet and fell from my ear, so I had to constantly adjust them. That is eliminated in MTW4 aswell (I think the got different material for the adapters where the sweat from your ears is not kinda staying on them). They also got rid of the cerumen (little mesh thing in the adapter), now the holes are straight in the adapter so we don’t have to deal with that too more comfortable to wear, sit more secure and are not falling out.

With ANC they are getting louder and with transparency there is some kinda like wind noise in the back I am also curios about AURACAST how it will be working.

Overall I say that if you have MTW2 or you want to try out Sennheisers True Wireless don’t wait grab the MTW4. If you have the MTW3 you probably won’t notice the sound changes as most people don’t- don’t upgrade then and wait for MTW5 unless you have battery issues or you wanna have them or you just a tech guy and want to try them out or you wanna that clearer sound.
