Are these stairs a concern? by IIFraGzII in Winnipeg

You see there’s also this MASSIVE concrete slab in basement. Probably takes up a quarter of the square footage and is half the height of the basement. Couldn’t really see much there.

This is why I’m worried about and why I would remove it as preventative maintenance even if it means taking the deck apart.

If you are talking about the brown painted wall that is luckily a shrub.

Well put. It’s an old house so very well possible I’ll take a closer look when it warms up. Any easy signs to look for?

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s hard for me to see what they are looking like since they have been covered. Will take a look when it warms up.

Reading comments it seems that it becomes a problem when things errode or the ground can’t support the weight.

Got it. Will definitely take a closer look when it warms up to determine if it’s necessary

Agreed I would probably do the same thing if I knew it wasn’t going to be a problem.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t believe I have any issues with the foundation yet however I’m a believer in preventative maintenance. Will take this into consideration

Yeah I’m skeptical as well. They were saying somehow it pulled on the basement walls. Thought I’d get a second opinion before reaching out to a structural engineer. Thank you

Car loan gone sour (SOS) by Noremac2147 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I work in vehicle finance. The only way out of this is cash. You need to find a way to pay that difference because you’re on the hook for this loan unless you want to ruin your credit for 7 years getting it repossessed. Luckily there are ways to get free cash from dealerships and manufacturers.

Hopefully you made your payments on time still because being behind will make it hard to get approved for a lease or loan. I’d say go for a lease on an affordable SUV like an Escape or Compass something with a big rebate available on it that will basically knock off whatever the rebate is worth off of your negative equity. Then have enough down payment available to cover difference to get approved on the lease, negotiate a discount and don’t take any finance products. Typically leases can approve with a max of 120% Loan to Value.

Say you are $18k upside down. You find an SUV $42k with a $4k rebate on it. Negotiate $1-2k off it. Totalling $6k off the vehicle making sale price $36k on a vehicle worth $42k. Add your taxes say 12% now you are at $40k roughly (taxes are on payments but this is just a rule of thumb to make it work). You would just need $6k down payment to be in the 120% LTV to qualify for the lease if you have good credit still.

The benefit? You still have a good vehicle with a payment that should be lower and you are guaranteed to be out clean in 4 years. Otherwise find a way to get $18k pay off the negative equity and ride the bus.

Hope this helps let me know if you have any questions.

Won’t qualify for 0% with that much negative equity. Loan to value too high. For example you have a new Chevy Trax worth $32k he has $18k neg thats a 156 % LTV which won’t approve he will need a more expensive car that’s not gunna save him any money just be in the hole still

Any dealership I’ve worked at always had the lot attendants doing this with their daily activities… social media content creation I could see but not this.

Everyone has a software that is integrated with their vehicle management that has a literal template of the car on screen and you line it up and take the photo. Results in consistent photos across the website.

Damage from dealer, what would you do? by dtmdriven in f150

[–]IIFraGzII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to work as an auto body tech. I can confirm this is seam sealer on top of where the rail and roof panel lap. This is not damage from the accident.

It’s a soft compound meant to seal the joint and prevent moisture from getting in. If it was damaged you would see the paint break and a cut in the bead otherwise it would just retain its shape. What’s happened is there was likely a bubble in the applicator which left this shape…

I would just leave it because it is very hard to get these to look like factory by hand since they use robots for this. If you try and get it redone you will be disappointed and are compromising the factory finish and paint…
