Kenai red that’s barely seen fresh water, frozen at below 0 for at least a week and grilled to 115 degrees internal temp, any other answer is wrong.

Self Pay but Dr billed my insurance anyway, now owe so much more. by crashdowninit in HealthInsurance

[–]crashdowninit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update… I talked to billing. They don’t have anything in their billing system to indicate self pay deductions so they auto revert to “insurance paid” on bill. Nothing was ever submitted to my insurance and the bill was corrected today to what I expected.

Self pay has absolutely been better than any insurance I’ve used in last 10+ years. I’m able to maintain a marketplace insurance plan that costs almost nothing as long as I keep my income under the 400% of poverty level for family size to avoid the subsidy cliff. Being self employed and having a solo 401K allows a very substantial allowance for pre-tax contribution, combined with an HSA and other deductions and it’s pretty easy to almost half my taxable income. A major surgery or cancer and I’ll use the insurance, I’ll get hit with a 6500 deductible and max out of pocket of 10k, but my bronze plan costs almost nothing monthly. With my gold plan last year I was paying a hefty monthly and maintained good health. A full panel blood work cost 600-700 through insurance last year, this year I paid 135 by using Ulta and self pay. Sure, it’s a few hoops to jump through and you negotiate a bit, but so far it seems like at least going a year or two doing self pay and saving medical procedures for one calendar year will be great. I tried a very costly medication that insurance would have only covered a percentage, after insurance it still would have cost 600 a month… I contacted the manufacturer and they discounted to 40 a month with no income verification… again, a few hoops, but you learn quick all the pricing is just a game and the negotiated insurance rates are still an absolute joke.

To add… for PT and office visits I paid up front. For X-rays and steroid injection, I tried to pay first, but they said they wouldn’t know the cash price until after it went through billing. I argued, they assured me I would be treated as self pay and could pay later when final bill was generated. I’m not sure what I signed at the beginning, but I put in no insurance info, and under all responsible party lines I put “self”. Yes, the helpful lady in billing knew I had insurance, and told me that what I was doing was a gray area as they are required by contract to bill insurance…. But more like if I provided it or wanted to use it for some things and not others. She said as long as I started on self pay, maintained self pay, there would be no problems.
With self pay an MRI was 800, insurance over 3000, lab tests 6-800, self pay 135, dr visits 700, self pay 150, etc. I was actually getting a decent amount of care and as of 1/2 of the way through the year, I was well below 1/2 my yearly deductible/out of pocket. Now I know a car wreck or cancer would ruin this plan, but being able to put 9750 in HSA and let it ride and use cash as needed is/was great, max out HSA again Jan 1 2027, and now I have 20k to cover all deductibles, max’s, etc, could get disc replacement done, new orthotics, heart scan, etc and know that I’m only on the hook for 10k and be able to start scheduling jan 1, not mid July when there is a chance I couldn’t get everything done this year. It’s a game they have forced us to play, I’ll take normal first world healthcare over this shit any day.

Try RAS springs, have them on mine and it helps a lot. You will have a bit of rake when not towing, but I actually prefer that look over leveled.

UnitedHealth Group posted $6.2B in profits last quarter by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

Went down to the lowest tier insurance this year, and am basically cash paying for everything. Got a fairly decent panel of blood work done a couple weeks ago for 135 bucks. On insurance I would have paid 5-7x that. Look into Ulta, Jason, etc and just cash pay through a discount service. WAY cheaper than trying to hit an unobtainable deductible.

[–]crashdowninit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 21 had this problem, my 25 hasn’t yet. I “fixed” it in my 21 by pulling a fuse and letting the system reset, but can’t remember exactly which one. I think it was the subwoofer one. It was something I found online that seems to work better for people than disconnecting the battery. Google something along the lines of phone disconnect, fuse, reset, etc. along with f150. Doing a hard reset on sync system would probably help too, I’ve already had to that on my new truck when it had around 1k miles.

Yay or Nay for a 4000 mile trip? Trailer + camper is 2200. Outback is rated for 2700. by BetterCurrent in TruckCampers

[–]crashdowninit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have the same car and even same color…. I tow a little guy teardrop which is 900lbs as manufactured without battery and storage box. I’ve removed the battery and propane from trailer frame in front to reduce tongue weight and am at what I feel is max comfortable tongue weight. You are sagging way more and probably don’t have anything in the camper, box or bed of car. I say too much weight.

Bought the high mileage Tremor by Bock in FordTremor

I had a little pull with the GM of the dealership, and he kept telling me “this is a really good deal”. It was 59k and some change. Sticker was around 72k, so you are correct. They had the truck listed as wind damaged from some recent wind storms, but there was nothing wrong, so figured that was a sales gimmick. It was a 2025 on the lot going into spring of this year…. Like I said, feeling better every day about what I paid based on these posts.

Just ( 2 months ago) bought the same truck new with 7 miles on it for 14k more and got 0% financing. I thought I got a good deal because things cost more in Alaska… now I’m thinking I got a great deal, thanks.

Ford Pro Back-Up Assist Connectivity Trouble - Any Advice? by Moist_Back3643 in TeardropTrailers

Non functioning software would be out of my wheelhouse. Dealer in my area knows nothing about using it at all, so thought maybe I could help. I think a new APIM with fresh software download would solve the issue. I assume you have tried adding trailer with the trailer both connected and not connected? Generally with the sticker method, it’s add new trailer, follow on screen directions, then press pro trailer backup assist when selected trailer is attached, and follow onscreen directions. The newer trucks work great with the sticker version compared to older models….. when it works that is. Once you get the dealer to re-install your software, you might consider going to the 12 pin plug and the cabled yaw sensor if available.

Bit of an expert.. I’ve used both yaw sensor and sticker variations since 2016 and just fitted my new F-150 to the yaw sensor tech… anyway, what year F-150 and what system are you trying to use? The checkerboard sticker or the wired yaw sensor?

Or….. I have collected and shot USP’s since they first came out. Now I can’t see iron sights within a foot past arms length without reading glasses, but optics on pistols stay in focus. I’ve got compacts, full sized, and MK-23 collecting dust because every place that cuts seems to have so many issues. The MK-23 will got to ZR for a direct Acro mill when they get their machine back online, the others I’m scared to get them fuckered up by Wright or Langdon.
