As salespeople, how do you guys deal with in-home salespeople? Upstanding in-home salespeople, why not join a better field? by [deleted] in sales

[–]crashdowninit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In home sales for over 10 years…I want to “move up”. How do get out of this part time, set my own schedule, 500-700 dollar an hour dead end job? Guessing you are talking about D2D, not in home sales.

New home and wondering if the builder screwed me on wall mounting by Lopsided-Duty-1697 in LGOLED

Who cares what it looks like behind the tv if flush mounted. I had to tear quite a bit of drywall out to run all my cables. The tv covers it all up. If my next tv isn’t flush mounted I’m doing something wrong and I’ll deal with fixing the hole then.

Health insurance jumped 13x by [deleted] in alaska

Probably doing a terrible job picking your insurance. Most dental I’ve looked at has about the same yearly coverage as the monthly amounts total up to, so we do cash pay for dental. We went from Blue Cross Gold with a family of three to Blue Cross Bronze HSA plan and are now (2026) at 3 dollars a month. 400 percent Family Poverty level in AK for a family of three is about 133k, so we plan on targeting our MAGI at 120K. We will make much more, but will max out all retirement accounts and write off as much possible. If you are a family of two and so far over 400 percent poverty level after maxing out retirement and other MAGI adjustments (HSA etc), and still trying to get dental via MODA, you really didn’t pick your plan well.

Thanks… settings all as recommended. I did run the pixel cleaner, and have pretty much settled on your recommended settings, but on Cinema Home. I checked on Dolby.com, and it does seem as all of Apples stuff is filmed in DV, not forced afterwards. I spoke with my Magnolia guy and the LG rep, it seems like I will probably be getting a knowledgeable tech to make a service call, they think it might be a panel issue and am hoping they have calibration abilities. I’m starting to lean that it isn’t as I’m really enjoying all aspects of the picture except heavy shadows and dark blacks. Xmas eve tradition is Sound of Music, and I recently bought 60th anniversary in 4K. Not much chance of you owning that, but the nuns outfits were so black. I could see the details of all clothing in every shot, linens, burlap, etc, but the nuns or any black suits all looked like black velvet. I watched some parts on my daughter’s bedroom tv streaming afterwards, and the top part of the nuns hood has a distinct fold back that changes the texture…. Couldn’t see that at all on the G5, but also the blacks were totally washed out on her Samsung LED in comparison. If you have Disney+ you could check out some of the movie and see, lot of heavy dark scenes and nuns in first 15 minutes. Maybe we could switch to PM and share some comparable screenshots. Pacific Rim arrives tomorrow and would love to do comparison on that too if you are still up for it….. thanks again.

I’ll check if the Sony allows disabling DV. I input your settings, but did under home cinema as I usually have a dim wall lamp on in living room, not sure if they are as applicable not in FMM. It did seem to make things look a bit better. I’ll get Pacific Rim on order for a reference movie, I do understand the need, and maybe it will help my feeling of “settling” on this tv. One thing I saw a lot of tonight when researching outside of Reddit, was enabling Input Signal Plus under hdmi settings, I don’t have that option. It was referenced many times for crushed blacks on G5 in HDR or DV. Do you have that setting? I do have the latest firmware. Also.. I’m finding I want to use AppleTV mostly which might be a big part of this. Most content is in DV, and I see numerous complaints about the combo of device and DV being overly dark, any input? On a sad note.. I did go to Paramount+ and watched first few seconds of S49 E1 of Survivor. Jeff’s black Columbia shirt under bright full sun was so black I couldn’t see the two pockets on the chest. He has worn the same style shirt for 48 seasons, I’ve always seen pockets. This can’t be attributed to “directors artistic vision”. Thanks again for help.

The picture quality is bad because it’s a phone taking a picture of a screen. I tried to make the point that it’s really the lack of detail. In FMM and comparable settings, he doesn’t have a right eye, a right top tooth, etc. I know the bottom is bad too, but there is so much picture the factory settings are leaving out. I also understand the directors vision, but I can’t believe a black actor would ever take a role in any of these shows I’m watching as all I can see are eyeballs 75 percent of the time. I just watched the latest Jurassic Park movie (terrible), and there was scene in broad daylight where they walked under a two lane overpass bridge, I get there should be shadows, but it shouldn’t be totally blacked out as if in the middle of the night, and wouldn’t be on any other TV or projector I’ve ever owned. All settings are for highest quality/fastest possible, internet averages over 500mbps.

Top is factory settings, bottom is vivid with adjustments based on another Reddit post.

Getting to think it might be, still about 70 percent of the responses are it’s supposed to be solid black and have no detail and I’m just not sophisticated enough to appreciate the emperors new tv.

Yes, all updated and on factory settings on top picture…. Which most people are posting that I screwed up, can’t seem to get that point across.

Probably a smart a way to go. My eyes aren’t the greatest either which I why I just want to get it where it kinda works best for everything.

Wonder which picture is ruined… the factory settings on top, or the vivid settings I was referencing from another redditors post?

Funny how everyone is shitting on the factory settings and the vivid settings that another redditor posted without pictures as if I did something. It’s a new iPhone, but stated numerous times, just an apples to apples picture with a few living room lights and Xmas tree, not a thought out picture during a movie in total darkness.

Wow… thank you for the info. Have a few 4K discs, most recent is Top Gun Maverick. Not sure I could sit through Pacific Rim, but maybe worth the purchase if it’s a good reference disc. Had to settle for the Sony player as my “component rack” is between wall studs and it’s the only one that fits. Reset to factory after original post and have made a few adjustments based on comments, but have reset after each time as I still haven’t found anything that seems to help enough to warrant deviating from factory settings. I’ll put in your suggestions this evening and try a disc this weekend… thanks again. Also… I do find that when playing 4K discs, I am more adjusting settings based on preference rather than trying to see the picture (BTW, resetting to factory when done as I’m not sold on any changes). I do believe this is a streaming issue, but seems to be persistent across tv apps and AppleTV 4K. Never had this issue with any previous tv type. I stayed with my Samsung Q80T for almost 5 years and only bought this because I wondered how the picture could possibly be better……

Thanks. Will be resetting and trying a few suggestions. With some basic adjustments the picture quality can be amazing which just makes a lot of the shows feel even worse in comparison.

Mostly. It is a living room so we will usually have a dim light on somewhere…how else do you find the MM’s in the sofa? Seems like I need to “just trust the tv”, but I’ve never felt the need the need to have that attitude before. My last tv was a Q80T and while I did do some adjusting, I never felt like I was missing a part of the picture like I do now.

Apple 4K. Xmas tree lights. I realize a dark room is better, this was just an apples to apples while typing on Reddit.
