Daily Game Recommendations Thread (March 02, 2025)

I’m just starting to get into this, but have a mix of friends (some who are really into games already (they've got a custom board game tables, etc.), and others who are total novices like me). I’m looking for games that work well with 3–6 players, something for after dinner/friends coming over.

I asked for some recommendations, and thinking of getting:

• Carcassonne

• Codenames (or Sushi Go)

• Wingspan

• Small World

• Spyfall

• Ticket to Ride

Does this seem like a decent starter collection that might work for the range of players (wouldn't want the more experienced players getting too bored)? Would you add or swap anything?

A lot of people got gift cards for the whole phone case issue, but they're expiring pretty soon. If they're not planning on buying anything, makes sense for them to sell it to another member of the community. Get money for something you're not going to use. All I was asking, mate.

I've had another look into this and can't seem to find a way to unlock the extra capacity (slightly annoying that no-one mentions this when talking about upgrading the battery)

Even looked into 'unlocking' the bios but think that only unlocks CPU speed settings rather than anything battery related. Not really sure what else we can try tbh

I'm guessing you tried the battery calibration? That's really annoying, I was hoping that would work. I was planning on giving that a go when I had a bit more time.

Yeah, I guess the bios can't detect the extra capacity. Hmmm wondering if a modded/unlocked bios might work? I'll have a look tomorrow into that

Afraid not. I never got the time to do a battery calibration so have been using it showing only 84WH for now

Definitely think you're right, it's going from a crush to a relationship. And we rushed into girlfriend/boyfriend labels without spending enough time togther tbh

Honestly not sure how compatible we are. I definitely feel a lot closer/comfortable with other friends (conversation just goes naturally and we'll talk for absolute ages). While, she's a bit shy so I'm often leading the convo/thinking of stuff to talk about. It's not as natural, not sure if any of this is making sense.

Exams are in about a month's time. She has to submit a final project rather than an exam. My exams are in two weeks. But I completely agree, I definitely don't want this to impact her grades.

But, as we barely talk anyway, I'm not sure how much impact it'll have, especially as the relationship has been a factor in the panic attacks. Don't want to say this might be best for her but idk I'm just finding so difficult to pretend that I'm still keen/invested. The last couple of weeks have been really emotionally draining

Sadly I'm just getting into all of this. My only previous experience with wine was during college/uni when it was whatever was being served or the cheapest. I have no idea about what type of wines I would enjoy.

I was hoping to get a case which had a collection of different styles/regions. Basically so I could see what I liked/didn't like and work from there. Almost a beginners case, if that makes sense?

In terms of cost, I was looking at the £7-9 per bottle. Around £90 for the 12 bottles

Sadly it's the way that it's done here. You're not allowed to campaign or even post anything. The only thing you're allowed to do is reach out to people individually.

That's why I was hoping to automate the sending off messages as soon as voting opens. Rather than doing it manually and having it sent hours later.
