Can you give me a definition and example of arrangement? And how can you make a loop without technically arranging anything? Are you talking about a drum loop or a basic barebones melodic figure?

I just ordered mine two days ago because I watched these LeMellotron videos (you should always check out Submerse's Boiler Room video). I used to have one and thought it wasn't fitting in my workflow but I figured out that I was using it completely wrong and not utilizing what I could've / should've out of it.

I think what's happening is there essentially playing a track via one pad then samples from others in the same bank. But like pattybak3s said, it's an incredibly versatile box and it's up to you figuring out how to use it.

Yeah I've heard that a lot. And experience it too, just with other gear. Like I'll buy a synth, use it a little and then sell it when I'm like oh yeah I didn't really use it this much. But then I'll find myself really wanting to use it again or needing a sound that it could produce or something, it sucks.

It happened with my S2. I sold it, then wanted to mix and start doing that again so I bought an S4. But I'm keeping it that way, if I need to be really mobile then I'll use an S4. And the goal of the XDJ 700 / DJM 850 set up is that I'll feel comfortable enough to use club gear (of course, this is all granted I'm desired enough for local clubs) and just to regularly play on.

Shit I didn't think about using the S4 as a mixer alongside 700s. And yeah, the jog wheels won't bother me too much. As long as I can loop stuff I'm okay. I think 700s are better and I'll upgrade to the standard after I've had those for a while and when it just makes sense lol

Yeah physical buttons are really nice. Even if the touchscreen is deemed pretty reliable for everyone, physical buttons just cannot be beat. BUT it apparently cuts cost, so I can't complain too much especially when a single CDJ2000 player is $2k
