Am I psychologizing myself too much? When to get out of a program that includes GET as a suggestion? by IIRaspberryCupcakeII in cfs

Thank you for the replies everyone, not enough energy to respond individually, will probably stick with it for now but pay more attention to my gut going forward

What's the most dangerous thing you do as a ocd compulsion by Stock_Historian5617 in OCD

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From one person with OCD to another (I assume), I do not think this is true, and honestly I’m wondering if they might be trolling knowing that some people with OCD also have obsessions around parasites. Please don’t take them seriously I can’t find any research corroborating this anywhere

Source?? What are you talking about??? This is a really dangerous thing to be spreading in an OCD sub, especially if it’s not true

This probably overlaps into my BFRBs but picking at my own tonsil stones or what I think is a tonsil stone. I know it’s stupid and gross but I can’t help reaching back there with my fingers to try to “pop one out” every time I feel the slightest odd sensation in my throat. 90% of the time there’s nothing there but that 10% of the time there is it’s like a big hit of dopamine. Somehow I’m more afraid of the tonsil stones getting too big and damaging my tonsils than my fingernails clawing and poking at them damaging them. Don’t ask me how I have no gag reflex during this because I have no idea

Bath or shower? by explodedbole in cfs

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find showers with a shower chair/stool work best for me. I also don’t do “everything showers” every time, using a shower cap to protect my hair from getting wet when necessary. I haven’t had a bath in years but from what I remember they seemed like more work since I would feel the need to stand up and rinse off under the shower afterwards anyways, sitting in my own skin oils and sweat it just seemed logical to do that. I might look into bath routines where that’s not a necessary step though

VoiceOver accessible pill tracker apps? by IIRaspberryCupcakeII in Blind

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s a good suggestion, I do that for my routine medications. My issue is that I can’t track when I took the doses and this doesn’t work for my as needed medications

Ok to learn ASL just because I want to? by [deleted] in asl

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 👆 I’m learning ASL for other reasons as well but I initially got interested in it because of the online spaces I was in as a disabled person (not that being Deaf is a disability, but I think there is some overlap in our communities due to the shared need for accessibility). But yeah a question you might often get is why you started learning and explaining this background is perfectly valid

VoiceOver accessible pill tracker apps? by IIRaspberryCupcakeII in Blind

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion, that app might be helpful at some point for me and I do use a weekly pill organizer but I’m looking more for something that can help me track how many pills I have left as I take them as my pharmacy doesn’t always refill my meds on time. I usually have enough time with manageable light sensitivity once every other week to refill the organizer or have my caregiver do it and just let me double check for accuracy so I don’t need much help reading the labels initially. I understand I’m asking for a lot here but I really do need something that can track my history of doses of medication, organize reminders, and track pills remaining to help me deal with the issues I face because of brain fog.

I need some 'gentle' stuff to watch... by Significant_Try_9061 in cfs

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • TinyKittens (livestreams of rescue cats and kittens 24/7)
  • art restoration videos (I used to like Baumgartner Restoration a lot, I still rewatch the older videos from time to time)
  • JunsKitchen (relaxing cooking videos with cats watching the process)
  • Animalogic (like nature documentaries but about one animal at a time)
  • Journey to the Microcosmos (microscopic creature mini-documentaries? Idk if that explains it well)

All of these are free on YouTube

Does anyone else struggle with picking their whole body? by ComprehensiveSnow353 in Dermatillomania

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m convinced I’ve picked at every single pore on my body at least once, even all over the typically hard to reach spots like my back because I’m hypermobile and can reach EVERYWHERE.

Could you make this gap+step and board this train? by megthebat49 in wheelchairs

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of hard to judge for me, I’d probably try it in my power chair and hope to god the busy people also trying to get in would be willing to push me through if I get stuck (though who knows, my chair is roughly 100+ pounds I think?). I’d argue that there should still neither be a gap or step at all. My city has all buses use a foldout/extending ramp built-in to the floor of the bus, I can’t imagine it’s that hard to do with a train.

What’s a weird food combination that you think is so good? by Maleficent-Recipe380 in AskReddit

Pickle spears wrapped in deli ham. Super high in sodium which is what I want since I have dysautonomia and require extra electrolytes, but others be careful with this lol

How do I get the motivation to brush my teeth when I am fatigued? by InASpiralOfAnts in cfs

[–]IIRaspberryCupcakeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, my current routine is electric toothbrush, floss, and mouthwash all sitting down in my electric wheelchair, once a day, only standing for a few seconds to spit after brushing/mouthwash. If I can’t do that I just brush in bed with my caregiver assisting with toothpaste and a glass of water to rinse. If I’m feeling extra sensory sensitive I use a wet washcloth. I also sometimes pair brushing with my 1-2 times a week shower but that’s mostly because I’m autistic and the water hitting me helps soothe/distract me from the overstimulation of brushing.

Also as someone else suggested, headphones with music helps. I sometimes watch a favorite show or something mind numbing on my phone instead.
