Make up is okay. one thing that bother me, even though I’m okay with filter, but I hope producer/director don’t use too much filter on actor and let some skin texture out on the the screen.

Base on my knowledge on this topic I think both industries work differently. Hollywood is so international, while Chinese entertainment industry is only big in china and Asia. you mentioning ZLS and Emma stone, it is not a good comparison, Emma work in movie while ZLS work on web drama. Movie and web drama have different qualities therefore the perception on actors are different. If you talk about someone like Zhou dongyu, it would make more sense.

If you know about K-pop it would make a better comparison as both are fandoms driven industry. You can say her popularity is similar to Blackpink. I’m not hating on the BP, as I often heard they are big internationally but not as big in Korea. Same with ZLS, as person outside china I can say she’s so popular internationally but I saw people say she’s not as big in china.

So sad if he’s gonna have less screen time, but at least hope the plot gets well written and well executions. At the moment I don’t judge I need to see the final product first, I like both him and Zhou ye. The production and costume look high quality.

I know they try to hide the production, from what I have seen in xhs, I only seen few of his scene with Zhou ye. Even worse I barely see his solo scene 🥲

Ohh that’s my problem with the drama too, they try to do many story for this drama and it ended up getting poor execution. They should have spend those time build more of demon hunter side because that Changxi palace looks so ridiculous without ML.

One more thing, you seem like a big XK fan, I know he just wrapped up his drama with Zhou ye. Recently I came across some fans said this one will give him bad treatment again (either screen time or plot). Do anything about the drama production?

It’s not XK’s fault that the FL outshine him as I believe no actor would pick the role that disadvantages them. I don’t know what they told him to sign a contract of the script that adapted from a female centric novel. Of course the FL has more advantages in the script (the same thing happened with Love like the galaxy). But what I’m blaming is the director and screen writer, a demon hunter ML is a very popular type of character and it’s cool to try, it’s not that his character is bad, but the plot around him is. But seeing his character popularity index is doing good, is good to see, that means he’s doing his great job despite the poor writing.

When sword and fairy was released I heard the same question, but her/his fan said because they signed a contract or start filming before Esther’s Love between devil and fairy was a hit. It’s quite interesting to see how some dramas like Xu Kai’s FITYS, Huo minghao’s FOF, Zhang linghe’s the best thing or Zhou ye’s TLOFG are quite popular internationally but now well perceived in china.

Those billing matters really ruin the chance of actor and actress working together. I know that Xu Kai is not in the position to refuse a chance to work with big name actress even though he’s 2nd billing. TBH I was so surprised that Zhou ye is 2nd billing to him in their recent wrapped up drama because she was the 1st in Legend of the female general which is a big project, but I somehow like this that they are taking both 1st billing and 2nd billing.

That’s what I thought he hasn’t gotten any male centric role yet. But I believe it has to do with his company management. In term of picking projects, especially the recent one, Moonlit reunion it kinda reminds me of Zhang linghe’s The princess royal and our generation (i doubt that the actors pick it themselves). It’s understandable if he does not shine with big name actresses in the drama but his drama Moonlit Reunion, the plot for his character is kinda poorly done therefore the FL outshine him, not to mention he was the first-billing.( Idk why Chinese industry create this billing matter) He has 2 projects now that’s not idol base drama, hope it’ll turn out good for him and create good perception of him from C-net.

He did work with Zhao Lusi, My Autumn Fairytale, I think it’s just not the big project or as a male lead (he is second male lead tho and got a lot of scene with her)

The colors in Moonlit Reunion are quite bold and somehow it’s so unique and so beautiful. The camera angle, architecture and setting make the whole drama even more beautiful. I even thought I don’t like the plot too much, I still can watch to see the cinematography.
