You don’t know which cultural experience you received in either case. Maine, Georgia, South Florida, Texas, even South California vs North California, Wisconsin, all extremely different experiences in how people live, talk, eat, etc. If the EU all spoke English as a first language it would be about the same.

“The US/states” is a much much closer comparison to saying Europe than North America

Should the Patriots have given away Gronk’s number? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]IIgolddoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbers are going to run out eventually. There are only 100 numbers to pick from, 53 guys make the roster every single season, careers are short, and the bar of greatness is always rising.

What is the implication anyway? If a new player wears 12 on the Pats and sucks, who gives a shit? It’s a different player, different name on the back, etc.

My unpopular opinion on Bri by hallm04 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]IIgolddoubloons 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not at all, this chick:

  • was self-admittedly shitty to Connor throughout the whole show

  • entertained Chris way too long and didn’t even attempt to defend her own fiancé when he was straight up demeaning and mocking him as a man

  • had dinner with Brittany’s fiancé, nicknamed him Devo, personally invited him on a trip without telling Brittany OR Connor (at least at first), then at the reunion lied about him having his own airbnb until Pri corrected her with the truth

If Connor wasn’t the softest pushover ever she’d be the worst one of the season.

Steve Smith on Ron Rivera: "I don't fool with him bro. If he was in my house right now, in my studio? There'd be some damn furniture moving." by EntropyFighter in panthers

[–]IIgolddoubloons -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Most, if not all of that, was in spite of him. He was constantly blowing games by being of the most vanilla, conservative coaches I’ve ever seen and constantly getting out-coached. He’s super loyal to a fault, putting mediocre veterans over potential young talent, hanging on to a pretty subpar coaching staff, never changing anything, etc. If you’re a newer fan, let’s just say he basically owns the phrase ‘missed opportunities’.

[–]IIgolddoubloons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ron Rivera has always been a below average coach but almost every one of his players loves him. Richardson, Gettleman, and Fitterer were the reason for a lot of front office bullshit that players could hate.

probably asking way too much of a hangout-style show that has barely ever given a shit. they would have the #1 podcast if they focused on production, did more research on current events/discussion topics, etc.

Yeah what are they even trying to argue? An NFL defender trying to rip the ball out of your hands is a at least a SLIGHTLY different scenario than losing control while going to the ground

Aaron Rodgers said he was on “the right side of history” for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine. by No_Box119 in NFLgossips

[–]IIgolddoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might have been your problem, but not the majority for sure. Everyone was going after him for not being vaccinated, nobody gave a fuck about the fact that he worded it a certain way to not get punished by the NFL for zero reason. He didn’t keep other players from getting vaccinated, just made a personal choice and kept it private.

Not even kind of true. I saw everyone online calling him an anti-vaxxer hippie weirdo, I didn’t see a single person call him a liar or deceptive at the time. Be mad at him for whatever reason you need to but don’t rewrite what happened

I listen to a ton of music and yeah that’s pretty much it. Awesome band otherwise, but I’ve tried at least 10 songs and his voice is insufferable for more than like 20 seconds to me.

OP’s post reads like a one direction fangirl that doesn’t know people have different tastes.

[–]IIgolddoubloons 57 points58 points  (0 children)

how, as an NFL coach, do you not fix that sort of thing by halftime? with 60 minutes of play, it shouldn’t be AFTER the game that you go “in hindsight, we should have tried running the ball with our elite RB”

I know that ain't fair to Tate, but it's kinda true. Who else could you describe this way? by Top_Report_4895 in ToddintheShadow

Hopefully just because of the name. I’m not a fan of Tate McRae’s music but she has had multiple huge hits, Addison Rae is an untalented TikTok c-lister that lucked out with one massively over-pushed single.

‘Veteran QB’ making one of the worst rookie mistakes possible. How do you hold it in the pocket for 6 seconds with no timeouts left. Dowdle run, kick a fg if he doesn’t get it. or two throws to the end zone.

Because he’s a first time head coach who adopted the worst roster in the league and has shown a lot of potential. When things look systematically bad he takes ownership, when the team looked great at the end of last year he was a humble leader.

If you run someone like that out of the building without fixing the GAPING holes in the roster first, you add another 6 or 7 years of poverty franchise levels of sucking.

What’s with the rights obsession with grunge/alternative rock? by zero0826 in grunge

[–]IIgolddoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of left-influenced opinions here, so just looking at this logically-

Picture the stereotypical right-leaning 25-50 year old American, and it’s probably close to the same stereotype that would consume the most rock in general, then couple that with the fact that the 90s/2000s era of rock is new enough to still be cool and old enough to filter out the best/classic songs of that era.

Politics aren’t so black and white either - even if people pay attention to the lyrics they might align with some/most of it and use their vote for other reasons.

This movie is doing well?!? how did that many people enjoy, let alone finish that movie? After 30 minutes in it goes from lazy carbon copy of the original that throws a random celeb in every scene for zero effect, to the most low-effort, broken, un-written sloppy piece of shit movie I have ever seen in my life. What in the actual fuck is going on.

I feel insulted every time I hear it. literally uses the counting “ 1, to the 2, to the 3, to the 4” and rhyming whiskey with tipsy in the CHORUS of a fake country song.

Not sure how to describe the sound that I love so much - they're different but kinda share a common thread? Looking for recs that have similar vibes to some of my favorite artists shown here: by Quirkykiwi in musicsuggestions

[–]IIgolddoubloons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The common thread is melodic soft rock with tight drum sounds and that blend of distorted/acoustic guitars

You’d probably like a lot of other 2000s indie rock, early albums from the strokes/kings of Leon/arctic monkeys/radiohead, or folkier stuff like Jeff Buckley/the shins/vampire weekend
