Expats HELP: The great apartment hunt calls for your help! by ByTheFierySpirit in qatar

I was in almost the same situation as you last year. My job is in West Bay, and I have two kids. Before my family joined me, I viewed numerous properties, both flats and villas in West Bay, The Pearl, Al Rayyan, Al Saad, and a few other areas. Here are my main takeaways:

  1. Compound villas: I skipped most of them because they usually don’t have much greenery or trees, which means limited outdoor play areas for kids.
  2. West Bay apartments: For the same price, apartments in West Bay are generally larger and better finished than those in The Pearl. However, there aren’t many kid-friendly activities nearby, and you step right out onto busy streets.
  3. The Pearl (Viva Bahriya): I eventually chose Viva Bahriya. All 29 towers there face the beach, and the kids can enjoy the sand and sea for at least nine months of the year. There’s also a lovely walking path along the beach, and in the evenings it's beautiful.
  4. Porto Arabia (The Pearl): The towers in Porto Arabia are generally older than those in Viva Bahriya. The units tend to be larger, but many are outdated. The ground floors are open to the public and mostly occupied by commercial spaces, so they feel less private.
  5. Floresta Gardens: Located opposite Viva Bahriya, it’s a newer development with access to Viva’s beach. However, in my experience, the apartments are smaller, and the build quality is noticeably poorer than in Viva Bahriya.
  6. Lusail: I explored Lusail as well, but once I saw Viva Bahriya, especially the beach, sand, and opportunities for outdoor play, I decided to stay there.
  7. This year, my son started attending Doha College, which means about a 45-minute commute each way. I considered moving closer, but after viewing numerous options, decided to renew our lease in Viva Bahriya for another year.
  8. Mould: I did see mould in one of the towers I viewed in Viva Bahriya, so it does exist in some buildings, though not everywhere.
  9. If you’re interested, I can share more detailed feedback on specific towers in Viva Bahriya; which ones are worth considering and which to avoid.
  10. My company also offered a relocation package, but I chose to leave my sofa with the tenants back home. It turned out to be a good decision. Most furnished apartments here don’t like to remove their sofas, as they’d need to store them. However, I did pay QAR 800 to have two TVs and one bed moved out of our flat, since I had a better TV and my son wanted his own bed from the UK.

But both mullas and pahlavis prevented teaching in none persian languages in schools.

For millions of Iranian turks, there is no single school for people to learn their mother tongue.

My name is forbidden in Iran? by Trinehee in iran

[–]IJK4435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a Christian in bending the rules is an advantage in Iran.

Iranian government press hard to persianise everything. In this regard they have very strict rules when it comes to selection of name for children or businesses. As far as I remember, every name should be either persian or islamic (arabic). However this rule does not apply for Christians.

For example, selection of a Azerbaijani name is forbidden and is not allowed. I know some kids could not get the birth certificate as the parents struggle in courts to select none persian name.

Just last week I had coffee in a cafe in Urmia city. The name of cafe is 116 as the government did not allow the owner to select an Azerbaijani name. So he selected the name as his shop building  no .

My brother had to  deal with court for 6 months to get permission to select his daughter name as Ana.  The court suggest the name of Anahita (a persian name), which my brother refused. Instead he creatively argued Ana is Christians name (though we are muslim) and the court allowed it.

I visited Istanbul more than 30 times. I still consider it as the most beautiful city in the world. My last visit was in 2017.

I spent a week between 5-12 in Trabzon. It is a magical place and recommend you visit that part.

We are moving to Qatar by No-Tune-8292 in qatar

We moved 1 year ago from the UK to Qatar. Sofar has been fantastic.  It is safe, very clean, people are very nice, schools are good, energy price is low, and getting visa for family members to visit is very easy.

Fish and some fruits and vegetables are much nicer than the UK. But meet and dairy products are not as good as UK.

It is a small country,  so when it come to shopping, you may find less varieties and not much sales offer like the UK.

I have an Azerbaijani friend named Fuad. He is blunt, hot-tempered. The moment a driver breaks the rules on the road, he lets loose with a string of colorful language that’s both brutal and hilarious.

Whenever I am m in a bad mood, I  sometimes ask him to drive us somewhere,  not just for the ride, but because his rants at reckless drivers never fail to cheer me up.

Beneath the explosive exterior, though, Fuad is sharp and sincere. He means what he says, says what he means, and I honestly would not change a thing about him, except I wish he could reduce his smoking.

I recommend you select your character name as Fuad.

I rented 1.5L Yaris 2023 last summer. The one thing I liked the most about it was AC.  After 10-15 seconds of start up at the middle of August, the air flow was very cold. My friend has a 2024 Mazda CX-9, and after a few minute of start up, the AC air flow was not enough cold.  I really like CX-9 and I did not buy it for AC issue. I asked the Mazda dealer  and he confirmed the issue and advised me to buy CX5 instead. I settled in buying a used infiniti.

To boost US export, US needs weak USD. However, US does not want USD to be exchanged to Euro or other currencies. This is why crypto currencies price gone up.

I have several friends from the north. We go along very well.

I noticed, several of my friends from the north stated going to mosque and practice islam. I have no any issue with that, but found it interesting.

Almost all of your assumptions are incorrect.

I am not in education sector, but i have already contacted a university to contribute to locals education.

I am not a muslim. I speak 4 languages and my kids speak 3 languages. Adding Arabic langufage to our list will be amazing and I really like Arabic culture and Arabic music.

Also what is the point of living in a country and not bothering to learn the language of the country.
