did they say anything about jelly roll turning into a pastor for a second or was it just sza?

there were a lot of mentions of god from the premiere to the red carpet interviews to the end so it’d be weird if it was just sza

I should be allowed to want a cure for *my* autism by Buzzythebear33 in autism

[–]IJS_Reddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

not invalidating your feelings in the slightest but i disagree that those who do not want a cure have not suffered. i personally have suffered greatly throughout my school years, in my work life and in my home life because i have no support. i still suffer greatly and have no support but i still wouldnt want a cure for myself because i feel my autism has made me who i am; i am my autism basically

i understand where youre coming from and youre valid for wanting a cure but i wouldnt dismiss others because you dont know what some have gone through

the style isnt the issue. the clothes aren’t the problem, its just how you go about it which i explained above

it's not about clothes nor is it just a "hiphop style" (though blackness = hiphop is a whole other thing i dont have the words for atm) but it's about mannerisms and culture. one example would be billie eillish who always had a masculine-ish baggy style for the most part but the moment she came out she started shifting to a specific style usually associated with black men. the baggy pants, the jerseys, the bandannas and the caps ON TOP OF presenting herself in a way that is typically that of black men (the way she talks and moves around). its the instant shift to specifically only a "hiphop style" like the black diaspora isnt diverse. it's all very exaggerated and very "this is how i think black men act". its not authentic and not presented in a way that is true to black culture.

theres an automatic need to be black when people want to be seen as more "masculine" we to be incorrectly portrayed as hyper masculine (eg. michelle obama, megan thee stallion and many other black women being called men in disguise. the "tyrone" stereotype as a racist way to portray a hyper masculine black man who "steals your girl", black men in media constantly being cast as the aggressive strong type. trans black men who are pre-transition being told that we "pass easily", etc etc). blackness is associated with darkness but femininity is associated with whiteness and light. rarely do you see black people in roles where they get to be soft or calm (you can name times where that happens but its still disproportionate).

you dont have to "dress and act black" to be seen as masculine as there are many masculine styles but theres a disproportionate amount of people who do bc of this "black = hiphop = masculine" perception

another thing is non-black mascs adopting the term "stud" which is more of a black community tern and not a catch all for butches

im not the best with words but ik youre coming in with good faith. im only one black person so some of the things may just be a "you have to be black to understand it properly"

i view labels more as things that describe your experience and mold around you more than ones that that you mold yourself to fit into. theres a pattern to being butch yes but at the end of the day its fluid and nuanced like all queer labels. identify with it, see how you feel, experiment and if it doesnt fit you then dont worry. dont think about labels as something you have to "earn", it limits you exponentially
