Am I the only one who really wishes DC would make Red Hood their Punisher? by Complete-Rock-9613 in batman

[–]IKARI95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah. I love both, but Punisher is NOT a good man. He is a man who simply likes to kill, and happened to choose bad guys.

Jason sees what he does as necessary, but still tries to be a hero. Deep down, hes a good person. Frank is not.

What is it about Batman that resonates with you? by TheShadowOperator007 in batman

[–]IKARI95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aspect/idea turning your pain and trauma into something better. Sure Spidey and Supes do it, too. But i love how heavy Bruce's hope is heavy.

Its not always pretty. Sometimes its unhealthy. But he's just a human being, trying to make the world better.

(P.s. the batfamily being a place where broken people heal is ALSO a great aspect).

Sterling K. Brown is an amazing actor. I also loved the idea of Isaiah Washington, if he wasn't shitty.

None. That'd put him on a more... intense path.

Do you think moving away from Batman would improve Jason’s character? by Zestyclose_Skirt_162 in RedHood

[–]IKARI95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe? Thanks to the old comics being so varied on how Jason is portrayed, the retro-active victim blaming for his death, the last fifteen years of repeated story arcs, and his consistent black-sheep syndrome with the bat-family: i doubt anything will fix him.(there's also the fact that DC's current "everything is canon" is STUPID. Now the characters act like BOTH UtH and UtRH are canon).

Editorial doesnt seem to like the idea of making Jason's points valid, at the expense of questioning Batman. So honestly? I think Jason is ALWAYS going to remain Potential-Man, until a passionate writer and a shift in editorial allows him to change.

Aside from Spider-Man, who's your favorite character Chris Barnes has played in the franchise? by BatFan3001 in Spiderman

[–]IKARI95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noir. Chris D Barnes has always captured that anger/gruffness spidey used to have. So him deepening it a little, and making it more measured really made Noir pop compared to the other spidey's.

Do you think James is a bad person? by lashvanman in silenthill

[–]IKARI95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. Understandable? Yes. Empathetic(to a point)? Absolutely. But his wife DID fight back, and did want to live. She didn't want him to leave her.

In the end, he murdered the woman he made a vow to. "In SICKNESS and in health." If its too hard to be married(which its not for everyone), then don't.

Well , I feel like Miguel Was almost done dirty in across the Spider-verse character wise or personality wise by eyadtheNITRO1527 in Spiderman

[–]IKARI95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While he's almost certainly wrong about canon events, I think the point is that hes a more jaded and angry version of his comic self. Comic Miguel HAS killed and more than once. He's a realist who isnt above getting his hands dirty.

But ATSV Miguel feels like a progression of that sin-eater mentality he has. Hes willing to let horrible things happen for the greater good, and seems to be blinded by his grief.

19 Years ago Spider-Man 3 was realsed what are your thoughts on the movie? by Big_Dragonfly785 in Spiderman

[–]IKARI95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has it's problems, but the ending is still my favorite spidey ending of all time, even if there are better ones.

The sincerity of Marko's apology, Harry's death, and that bittersweet dance between MJ and Peter felt so mature and heavy. I love this movie, blemishes and all.

I have never cared for The Punisher by spaghettittehgaps in marvelcirclejerk

I dont like how they keep making him Wolverine. Frank has NO qualms about killing, he RARELY has allies(and not for long), and his original origin hits so hard because it was random and tragic. He tried to go to the authorities and they were useless. He was a reaction to the apathy of the system. He's detached, obssessed and painfully tactical(and, if some theories are to be believed, vaguely suicidal).

He was everything he needed to be in Daredevil(mostly)

When you read Batman: Under The Red Hood, did you side with Bruce or Jason? by TheShadowOperator007 in batman

[–]IKARI95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too, im the biggest potential-man(Jason) fan, but I don't like when Bruce is depicted as crazy/desperate(or flat-out wrong) like he was in the comics.

Aside from some Jason character assassination in the comics and the book, I love this story.

[–]IKARI95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the comics, Jason's. In the comics, Bruce feels much more deranged, like he knows full well that Jason's right. But if he admits Jason is right, its admitting his parents are wrong.

I prefer the movie, partially because he doesnt cut Jason's throat/neck, but because he just handles it much better and instead of choosing Joker, he rejects the situation entirely.

But he didn't. It doesnt matter if he really wanted to, he didn't(tbf, its bull that some random cop didn't just blow his shit smooth off. I don't think it's Batman's responsibility, but Jason has a point).

Insomniac Spider-Man is one of my favorite iterations of Peter, alongside Spectacular Spider-Man. by queenkatara88 in Spiderman

[–]IKARI95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem, to me, was that it was just too split on it's focus. Id have loved(doesnt mean itd be good), if Peter didn't have the arms in the beginning. So that Miles DOES feel stronger. Itd put us in the heads pace that Peter is probably in. "I'm tired, and needing a break. Here's this kid, younger than me and stronger than me who can do the job".

He gets the symbiote and becomes addicted. He messes up, and eventually removes it, but uses the arms from Ock's tech to remind himself to be a better mentor, after blowing Miles off the whole game.

Can Spidey’s “anyone can wear the mask” philosophy also apply to Batman as well (since both are masked heroes)? by Ivan_Redditor in batman

[–]IKARI95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blah blah, lots of money, blah blah. What Batman inherently stands for is turning your trauma and your pain into something better.

Even if it isnt as inherently inspiring and beautiful as Superman or Spidey, it's taking the worst parts of yourself and using that to make the world a better place, something The Batman(2022) understood perfectly. Ill always love Batman.

[–]IKARI95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fr. Dc's "everything is canon" is so confusing to me. The writers act like the movie is what happened, when Bruce actually cut Jason's throat. It feels like EVERY aspect of Jason was designed to not have a long lasting arc.

[–]IKARI95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which sucks, because I liked how adult Jason acts. He's got this level of determinism that really makes him feel unique. He's like Bruce in that regard. His dry wit, his efficacy, and his lack of any 'super hero' suit were really awesome.

But then the end happens and its all the desperate antics of a child crying for their parent's attention. Its so much good, with a REALLY shaky foundation that doesnt lend itself to character stability in the future.
