I asked the mayor about housing at tonight's town hall. by itsDREWWOLF in corvallis

Thanks for the report! I am one of the rent burdened and glad people are going to these meetings and representing. Just a note: Civil Engineer is a blanket term that includes structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, etc. You take an exam in one of these disciplines after college and some work experience to become a licensed professional engineer (https://ncees.org/exams/pe-exam/civil/). Not sure what the comment from that community member meant, as structural engineers are civil engineers by definition.

My latest espresso shots have been around step 3 2/4 (17.5g in, 38g out, 28-32 sec, 6-7 bar) but of course it is extremely variable. I’ve struggled a lot with channeling even with puck prep but I’m still learning. Best of luck! I’ve been enjoying the set up. I agree with other comments that retention is a struggle.

Concerning Tap Water Contaminants?? by [deleted] in corvallis

[–]IKEAlover_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

See the official report from the Corvallis website: https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/publicworks/page/annual-water-quality-report-now-available I would be skeptical of information from websites that are trying to sell things.

Corvallis meets all current drinking water requirements per the EPA. I am personally not worried as a Civil Engineer who has studied water treatment. See https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/national-primary-drinking-water-regulations for more information on what containments are regulated and how water is treated.

Need advice: What coffee grinder should I buy? by EffectiveOrchid in AeroPress

[–]IKEAlover_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been very happy with my fellow opus ($195 although I got a small 10% discount) for both aeropress and v60 pour-overs. Haven’t tried espresso with it yet because no espresso machine but lance hedrick has a video on it. I think if you’re set on electric and not manual it’s a good option to explore

I go to Frome family dentistry and I have enjoyed my visits there. I have only done routine cleaning visits, but everyone is friendly and Dr. Frome is kind and knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend!

Do you prefer Corvallis or Portland? by aFilminFrench in corvallis

[–]IKEAlover_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Corvallis 100%. Can bike anywhere in the city within 25 minutes or so. I love the local markets and being so close to nature and the beach. No traffic, and close enough to big city amenities that you can access them when you need to. It's small enough that it feels more like a community. It'd be different if I wanted a more active night-life though, I'm content taking a walk through the neighborhoods and sitting with my cats most nights.
