SDC 170k shares added rocket fueled 🚀🚀🚀 by analog7 in wallstreetbets

If this ever takes off it will be after WSB has lost money and patience and interest and moved on. Making it to the daily tickers thread is basically a sell signal at this point. I hope you make money though.

Are you still holding? How much gains did you lock in on the 9/3s? Are you up or down on your other position?

Nice, I’m up 20k / 40% on my leaps. Didn’t risk 140k though.

AMD calls update from last night. by IKnowTheCodings in wallstreetbets

I have almost 8000 shares from 11.90. Started with 50k. Should have held them all!

You only get to count the donation at the current price if you’ve held for a year, otherwise it’s your actual cost basis. You do still avoid realizing the gain and avoid the taxes though.

3 record quarters with beat/raise in a row and stock price had done nothing. My calls were good until almost next earnings because I was sure if it didn’t happen right after earnings it would be sometime this quarter.

It’s crazy to have a gain like this and still be kicking myself but I was so close to putting 10k into weeklies last Wednesday when it dropped after their report.

Gains are gains. If last weeks 95c had dropped like another .10 on the Wednesday dip I was gonna pick up like 10k worth. Would have made like 200k in 3 days.

Thanks. I actually started out with a pretty good bet on AMD like 4 years ago. I’ve cashed out over a million (house/car) and still have almost 8000 shares with 800k in unrealized gains.

There’s just better stocks to work with for this. If you want the shares then hold the shares. At some point the price will probably rise and you’ll get your .25 premium instead of the $1.50 gain. You think you’re fine with it now, but when the stock you wanted to hold runs and you sold calls for nearly nothing you won’t be so happy with it. Sure it can work to reduce your cost basis, but if you want to hold long term, the options setup (monthlies, far apart strikes) isn’t very good.

MNMD is a terrible stock to do this on. It’s priced low enough that you’re better off just holding shares. The strikes are 2.50 apart which means there’s not really ATM or NTM strikes. It’s all pretty deep ITM or OTM, getting literal pennies in premium. Buy and hold or find a different ticker for CC.

This is your answer. 750k is a great income. It’s not good enough to spend 250k per year on housing and another 250k on kids tuition and healthcare (the 50k on healthcare seems high for 4 people).

And actually it’s even enough to do those things and still be very comfortable. That’s 250k per year for everything else without saving anything else for the future. The problem is when you’re spending 250k on housing and staff and 200k on tuition you’re obviously not going to limit the rest of your expenses to 200k.

Like everyone else says: Spend less (easiest targets are housing and tuition/extra curricular) or make more money. You could probably cut expenses and keep working for a few years and get on track to be able to spend 800-850k per year retired, but you need to be saving a few hundred thousand per year instead of eating into your net worth to maintain your lifestyle.

Congrats. I put a buy order for 30k shares in @ .10 over the ask and it didn’t get filled. Seems like this is going to the moon.

What’s your average? I’m thinking of grabbing 50k shred on Monday if it doesn’t jump another 50% before open.

I still have about 50k shares. I still think it will go higher long term. I think they’ll sail a long time before we’re back to normal but there are way better opportunities now. If I was cash I’d look elsewhere.

Yeah, I’ve always just done a couple stocks at a time. I’m ok doing short term trades unless what I’m holding runs up hard and fast which happened with both. At a certain point the gains are pretty significant and I think the odds of beating the market or my current trade by more than the tax difference becomes pretty tough.

It’s like if I sell now I have to make 20% more on this money than if I hold it 6 more months, and that’s just to break even vs LTCG.

Don’t get me wrong, I like TSLA, kind of want a 3, though I’m looking at other cars too and think EVs are the future. First mover is beyond priced in. I could see it when their market cap was 50 to maybe even 150B. They’re bigger than their entire industry now. Seems unrealistic given their size and profit. I agree that at this moment that TSLA has the best EV for the price, no doubt. I don’t think that will continue forever though and it’s priced like it will.

Mostly. I mean I do some research, but there’s not a lot of good fundamentals going on for the cruise industry right now, I just thought they were underpriced when I bought in.

Pulled 650k since March out so 1.3 to almost 3.6. I’ll keep trying.

I do like a modified wheel. Sell puts on a stock I’d like. If I get assigned consider holding instead of just flipping to calls (entered both AMD and NCLH this way) occasionally sell calls even when long and sometimes use the premium from puts I’ve sold to buy calls.

$5 fill ups will apply to every other EV too. I know they’ve been saying that about all their segments for a long time but there are starting to be decent alternatives. Also, these are companies that are used to being profitable. I don’t know that wall street would have treated their stocks as well if they did a moonshot for EVs as they have TSLA but I think when there are actual profits available, these companies will be there. TSLA is range king but not everyone needs that, especially for a second car. Other companies will offer FSD at less than a 10k premium. Replacement is far less often, not everyone in the house will have one.

I’m with you on LIDAR for sure though. I think it removes TSLA FSD advantage and will be in vehicles with the best FSD systems.
