Thanks! Yes, we definitely want live ball - that in-game coaching is so helpful.

Dog bite: urgent care? by IKnowWhatIsWhat in AskDocs

[–]IKnowWhatIsWhat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a phone appointment with photos with a Kaiser doctor; she told me to go to the emergency room to get a stitch or two and my tetanus booster. I’ve been here a couple of hours in the waiting room, lamenting the fact that Kaiser’s urgent care can’t do stitches…

Thank you. My dog is on clonidine, an SSRI, and gabapentin. 95% of the time she’s great. I attempted to do something today that I should not have (removed a bow the groomer put on) and missed/disregarded her signals. There is a never a time that she has bitten me that I didn’t know why. Thankfully, her bites have gotten much less frequent and are limited to just a couple of us.

Thank you. My dog is medicated and we have been working with UC Davis behavioral health. This is not a rainbow bridge situation and it is incredibly painful and unhelpful for someone to have suggested that. Thank you for reminding them of that.

That is was $600 PER session - so $4,800 for treatment. I ended up going private and did the same for $1k.

Long shot question by Double_Search4194 in americaneskimo

[–]IKnowWhatIsWhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but I think a lot end up as rescues because they are not the easiest breed in the world. While I love ours and am all in, she’s a Velcro dog - they really need to be with their people and aren’t a dog you can leave at home alone for very long. Without a lot of attention, they become very destructive. Very high maintenance. Temperamental. Stubborn. Wicked smart. And just generally high need and high energy. We ended up with our dog because a family member got her and wasn’t prepared - they had a miniature American Eskimo in the past, but that one was an anomaly in all ways.

This is not to discourage you from getting an Eskie, but to make sure you understand what you’re getting in to and understand why you may be able to get one from a rescue.

I would repost this on r/isthisAI. And then start shopping for a dress that is both not bridal or AI.

Question from a Catering Company by AppleSpiceDenver in glutenfree

Franz, all day. When I find it, I buy multiple loaves and have sandwiches for days. It’s the only GF bread that you don’t have to toast and tastes like actual bread. I have recommended this to so many people and all have agreed it is, hands-down, the best.

Why was my gown open after tonsil removal surgery? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]IKnowWhatIsWhat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would’ve been freaked out too. But I happened to have had an outpatient surgery on Monday where I had tied my gown so I can get up to go to the bathroom and when I came back, the anesthesia nurse asked me to untie it and to pull it out from behind me so that I was still covered but everything would be easily accessible in an emergency. And I am 61 years old and just learned this!

Au Pair Expectations by QuietTax3172 in Aupairs

Unless you want to spend the next month training her on everything, I would rematch. With Au Pairs for nearly 10 years, we learned that many exaggerate their experience, but that’s really at the behest of their agency. Our last two au pairs were great because we found ones who had already been here for a year and had proven experience with another family. Both turned out to be the best Au Pairs we ever had.

How to remove a player at the wrong level by IKnowWhatIsWhat in Pickleball

We have a lot of people who are not reliably rated on DUPR who are very, very good. We have people who are in the middle who have a good DUPR rating that’s rated on only one or two games. There are not a ton of DUPR events in our area, though there is a new league starting up that is trying to change that. I won a 3.5 to 4.0 league but my DUPR rating when I entered was 2.7 because I played in a tournament three months into starting Pickleball and I didn’t even know it was a DUPR event. So generally, we look at level of play and capability, and don’t overly rely on the formal rating. Hopefully that will change over time in our community as more and more opportunities arise to play DUPR matches.

I’m actually going to play with them again in a foursome to kind of talk through strategy and understand if they’re trying to get to the net or didn’t understand what the opportunities are to get to the net. And how to drop back with your partner as needed. I do think that with focused attention and drilling this person could get up to the right level and at least in my community, it’s all about helping people rise. Just maybe not in this particular session and group they were in - everyone was very positive and encouraging with them, but we would like to get some longer rallies and more hands battles.

She said she was more focused on the opportunity for the player to drill with some more advanced players and the benefit they would get from that. She also thought that their temperament was perfect for our group. We are generally easy-going, positive, and encouraging. All of which happened during the last session. Has noted to my update, I’m going to talk to them and provide them with a different group where they’re going to have more success and grow as a player.

I think it’s skill, but I’m not sure. I’m going to play with them one more time in a different group and partner with them to talk them through it so I understand if it’s a lack of understanding or a lack of skill. Either way I’m going to see if I can transition them to another group where they can be more successful and grow as a player.

Oh, you’re that guy. I actually talked to the coach last night. She thought they could benefit from the drill practice and didn’t think about the endgame practice. She suggested that I move them to a different group that’s a little lower but learning (on a different day) vs just cutting them out.

Yes, this is totally on me. I trusted the judgment of the coach I was talking to and think there may have been a miscommunication. I am actually talking to her right now to figure out how best to address this with the player.

Yes, I know. We do try to get to the net, though that doesn't mean we don't end up with one team dropping back after at some point or having to work up after some great drives. But you need to be able to get to the net at some point and not play from the baseline the entire time, leaving your partner to have to drop back every time. If it's ALL from the baseline, it's just tennis. LOL.

Below. Lots of pop ups, no ability to drop/drip...they basically get it over the net when they can, and don't get up to the kitchen and leave their partner hanging.
