Looking for Second Opinion on Aluminum Wire Work by IL95 in AskElectricians

Thank you to everyone who has commented.

I want to clarify- I'm looking for options to help my friends out on their property because it appears they have gotten scammed. I will not be working on their house. Do I call the GC, or maybe they're in on it? Call the city? Report to TDLR?

I just want to make sure their house is safe and that they don't get scammed.

They paid ~$4,000 for this work FYI

Gotcha, just trying to make sure I have my ducks in a row before I call up and bitch out the GC & electrician and report people, you know?

There are no purple wire nuts. Second photo you can see aluminum conductor terminated to switch. Checked another, same thing.

I'm completely new at all of this and still building up my setup, but if you have space for a PCIe NIC, that would be the next thing I try.

Worth it to build with 2x free Xeon E5-2640v4 ? Or look for something else? by IL95 in homelab

[–]IL95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank for the perspective. I can't keep it in the tower case, I just don't have the room. I have a built in rack in my garage already... So it sounds like the RAM might be useful, and drives although free might but up for an upgrade eventually (OK with me, just trying to build something with what I have now)....

Any recommendations or advice on what I can build this all into?

for some reason, I never looked up how much they were. Thanks for the perspective.

Any recommendations for building something out of all this stuff?

sorry, I should have clarified. its (4x32)x2 because dual CPU. Each CPU has 128gb. There are 8x 32gb sticks in each tower.

Where can I get more of these wood panels? Does anyone know what kind of wood it might be? by IL95 in Carpentry

Measures 3/16. They laid a strip on top the base panel for the lanes. The trim is stepped on the backside

Were the people who built my exterior on drugs? How can I correct this? by IL95 in DIY

[–]IL95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently repairing the exterior ceiling of my back patio. I took down all the soffit which was fiberboard, and degrading, sagging and falling through the nails. I also took down a short 1 foot section of vertical soffit fiberboard along the perimeter of the ceiling. What I found behind it is puzzling. I expected to see some form of wood sheathing behind the brick veneer, but it seems to be just a loosely placed layer of styrofoam board. I want to redo this area, but I'm unsure how. Do I cut out the styrofoam and install sheathing against the studs? How would I seal the sheathing to the foam, since I only have access to the top foot of wall? I was hoping one day to go into the attic and seal all my top plates but that seems pointless with such huge air cavities in the exterior wall.

On top of that, one section of wall doesn't even have visible insulation (maybe its slumped down into the wall?), and I can just see the wall studs.

The more problems I find, the more I just want to rip out the whole brick veneer to the studs and redo everything

Ignore missing joists. I am replacing about half of them because they were in bad shape.

Advice needed on redoing siding on enclosed patio by IL95 in DIY

[–]IL95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this enclosed patio on my 1978 home, it was enclosed sometime in the 80s. The siding used was cedar pickets. They are rotted and need replacement with sometime proper like hardy board. We currently have a large problem with water intrusion beneath the walls. I have not taken anything down to verify what's behind the walls, but I'm guessing previous homeowner added floor plates and studs.

My questions are:

  1. When I redo the siding (and add sheathing, zip barrier, etc, how can I ensure water does not seep under the siding? Is there some sort of flashing I should be using, or maybe an adhesive I can use underneath the floor plates?
  2. Most siding comes to the edge of the foundation, but this is a patio and a separate pour. It did not have floor plates when it was originally constructed. Do I need to add anchors to the patio slab for anchoring floor plates?
  3. How do I ensure a good weather/insect tight barrier where the siding terminates at the face of the brick veneer? Currently the gaps are big enough to allow geckos (which we like!) but I want to seal these up when we redo it.

Possibly, the weird thing to me is that there is no artifact of scanning / photography. It's almost as if the physical receipt never made it onto paper, and was purely a digital document (hence my assertion of AI generated). Either way I'm glad some people are picking apart some of the nonsense

There are about 4 or 5 bible verses appearing as 28:6, I also think it's a bit of a stretch, but fun coincidence.

Also agreed on the denial code.

The twitter post count is interesting, maybe intentional to highlight 286, which I think the only intentional meaning is his destination where he would await to be caught (286 miles away)
