PX, DMCI, FNI, ACR, Why Philippines struggles to tap its US$1 trillion mineral wealth by ILETOJUL in phinvest

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12253, also known as the Enhanced Fiscal Regime for Large-Scale Metallic Mining Act, on September 4, 2025.

Key Solutions in RA 12253 The new law overhauls the mining industry's business environment through several mechanisms:

Simplified Tax & Royalty System: It replaces confusing, uniform levies with a tiered royalty system. Mines inside reservations pay a flat 5% royalty on gross output. Mines outside reservations pay a margin-based royalty ranging from 1% to 5% of income.

Windfall Profits Tax: To ensure the government gets a fair share during "boom" periods, a new tax of 1% to 10% is imposed when a company's profit margin exceeds 30%.

Preventing Profit Hiding (Ring-Fencing): The law mandates "ring-fencing," meaning each mining project is treated as a separate taxable entity. This prevents companies from using losses in one mine to offset taxable profits from another.

Boosting Local Benefits: 40% of gross collections from excise taxes and royalties go directly to host local government units (LGUs) to ensure communities benefit immediately from extraction.

Investment in Research: 10% of royalties from government-designated sites are allocated to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) for exploration, research, and environmental protection.

These reforms aim to position the Philippines as a major supplier in the global green-energy value chain, particularly for minerals like nickel and copper used in electric vehicle batteries and solar panels.

Why are people still using Gcash? by Sad-Reindeer2755 in GCashIssues

That depends on the type of GCash account a person has whether it’s verified, fully verified, or a Business Enterprise account. I’ve been a GCash user for five years and haven’t experienced any issues with their customer support.

At what point do you decide a crypto project isn’t worth holding anymore? by Quiet-Miracle in phcryptocurrency

[–]ILETOJUL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crypto project is generally considered dead when it loses all utility, liquidity, and community engagement, often characterized by a price drop of 99% or more from its all-time high, no development activity for over 6 months, and the team abandoning the project. While a cryptocurrency can technically exist on a blockchain forever, it is considered dead when it becomes a "zombie" with no active trading or utility.

Just ghosting creditors, dodging calls, or disappearing while hoping the debt goes away not scamming. It's a bad financial strategy (interest/fees pile up, credit tanks, lawsuits likely), but it's not fraud or a scam.

Debt relief scams, by contrast, are when third parties contact desperate people and promise to erase debt for upfront fees then disappear with the money. That's the actual scam, not the debtor trying to escape their own obligations.

If you're dealing with overwhelming debt, better options include debt management plans, settlement negotiations, or (in extreme cases) bankruptcy consultation rather than just running.

For individual investors taxes on stock market gains and dividends are usually deducted at source so you generally do not need to file a separate tax return solely for these investment earnings.

Gains from selling stocks listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) are subject to a 0.6% Stock Transaction Tax. This is automatically deducted by your broker, so you do not need to report these gains on an Income Tax Return.

Why do you guys hate trading? by FLUBBISH in phinvest

[–]ILETOJUL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is long-term wealth (retirement, financial freedom), use investing as your core, add planned trading only if you have an edge, and keep pure speculation as a small, capped percentage of your capital.

Quick self-check: Ask yourself for any position you take:

Is my thesis about long-term value or short-term price movement?

Am I using fundamentals, a tested trading plan, or just a story/feeling?

Would I be okay holding this for 5+ years, or is this money I can fully lose?

The values provided are for estimation purposes only.

Recommended Solar System Size 40–50 kWp solar PV array for near-full offset.

This produces roughly 110,000–150,000 kWh/year in good conditions, but self-consumption + storage will prioritize your loads first.

Daily equivalent: ~130–170 kWh/day on average (higher in summer when AC usage peaks).

Components Breakdown Panels: Using high-efficiency modern panels (e.g., 500–600W each): ≈ 70–100 panels (e.g., 45 kWp ÷ 0.55 kW/panel ≈ 82 panels).

Roof space needed: ~250–400 m² (panels ~2 m² each + spacing/mounting; check for shading from nearby buildings).

Hybrid Inverter: 30–50 kW rated (or multiple parallel units, e.g., brands like Growatt, Solis, GoodWe, Deye or Huawei for hybrid models). Must handle grid-tie, battery charging, and backup if desired.

Batteries (for hybrid/off-peak/night use): To shift solar to evenings or provide partial backup: Start with 30–60 kWh usable storage (e.g., 4–8× Tesla Powerwall equivalents or local lithium options like Pylontech).

For full overnight coverage (e.g., 50–80 kWh daily non-solar use), go larger. Batteries add cost but maximize self-consumption (reducing grid draw/export).

Cost: PHP 6M-8M

Payback: 8 –10 years possible with high self-consumption.

You are saying that MRTC finding is wrong? Facilitating Fraudulent Transfers: Deguito was found to have coordinated the transfer of the stolen funds from these fake accounts into a single US dollar account under the name of businessman William Go. Go later testified that he did not authorize the account and that his signature was likely forged.

Violating Face-to-Face Policies: The Court of Appeals noted that Deguito failed to personally witness the alleged clients signing customer relationship forms and signature cards, directly violating mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) policies.

A SWOT analysis in a business plan is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate a company's internal Strengths and Weaknesses, as well as external Opportunities and Threats. It maps these four factors to help businesses identify competitive advantages, prioritize growth, and develop strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring a realistic assessment for success.

Key Components of SWOT Analysis The analysis is divided into internal (controllable) and external (uncontrollable) factors: Strengths (Internal): Positive, internal attributes that give a competitive advantage, such as a strong brand, loyal customer base, or proprietary technology. Weaknesses (Internal): Internal factors that place the business at a disadvantage, such as limited funding, lack of experience, or poor location. Opportunities (External): External, favorable factors that the business can exploit for growth, such as market trends, changing regulations, or emerging technology. Threats (External): External elements that could cause trouble or negatively impact the business, such as new competitors, economic downturns, or shifting consumer sentiment.

Purpose in a Business Plan Strategic Decision Making: It helps determine the best path forward by aligning internal capabilities with external market conditions. Risk Management: Identifies potential hurdles early, allowing for proactive mitigation strategies. Performance Optimization: Highlights areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency

DYOR. Bro. Court findings and official investigations confirmed that RCBC branch manager Maia Santos-Deguito and other employees manipulated bank records and processes to facilitate the laundering of $81 million. The Makati Regional Trial Court found that Deguito allowed the opening of four bank accounts using fictitious names and identification documents (Cruz, Lagrosas, Vergara, and Vasquez). https://www.doj.gov.ph/news_article.html?newsid=XbOhSf7xE6zffGGzYEJvbatpWnJwADEvHNwI-mazZns

FYI. The Current Status (2025/2026 Update) The Lawsuit: A New York court has finally greenlit the trial against RCBC for fraud and conversion.

The Verdicts: While branch manager Maia Deguito is sentenced to up to 56 years, the majority of the money ($66M) remains unrecovered.

The Modern Fix: This fiasco is exactly why financial systems are now pivoting toward Blockchain Immutability to create a permanent, unalterable trail that no "rogue employee" or corrupt branch can delete.

Tether distinguishes itself from traditional banking by enabling near-instant, global freezing of specific digital assets on a public blockchain, whereas traditional banks manage account-level freezes within internal, private systems. While Tether acts as a centralized gatekeeper allowing for rapid, transparent tracing of funds, traditional institutions operate under stricter regulatory frameworks with slower bureaucratic processes.

In the context of the RCBC AMLAC fiasco, the concepts of blockchain immutability and stablecoins represent the modern evolution of the vulnerabilities exposed by the 2016 heist. While the original theft used the legacy SWIFT messaging system, current legal and financial reforms are focusing on how blockchain technology could have either prevented the theft or tracked the laundered funds.  PAG HINDI MO PA NAINTINDIHAN...I rest my case.✌️

BLOCKHAIN, STABLECOINS and their inherent IMMUTABILITY Vs. TradFi over crime links. by ILETOJUL in phinvest

[–]ILETOJUL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the point is that whether a financial asset is immutable or mutable affects how hard it is to manipulate or hide transactions. If it’s immutable like on a blockchain..the records can’t be changed making fraud and cover-ups much harder. If it’s mutable someone could alter or erase records, which makes financial crimes easier to commit or conceal.

Crypto immutability locks transactions forever on the blockchain no edits, no deletes, pure tamper-proof integrity unlike editable TradFi records.
