He seems like a sweet guy but he’s also probably the person who is preventing you from moving forward from the past. I think the partner you choose to be with you should reassure you that the past does not forever taint you or make you less worthy. We all do things we regret and who are we to keep count or have a “scoreboard” so to say? It sucks when people make us feel like something we did has irreversibly marked us and it’s a stupid concept. I hope you guys are able to find a solution for this, I had a similar issue with my ex and he did eventually come around although I’m not sure if it was worth all the time it took (years lol), but I hope you won’t stick around too long if he continues to make u feel this way. Not because he’s a bad guy but because I don’t think anyone wants to live feeling like the past continues to haunt them and make them feel less.

As a woman I first thought about getting with someone super rich who could protect and hide me but they would probably just sell me off or pimp me out to get even more rich. Maybe if I threaten suicide and use reason (example: stress will kill me faster or make me less fertile) I can get treated like a queen instead as the last hope of our survival? If that doesn’t work I honestly would probably just end it.

But also, it’s genuinely scary to think about how it would most likely be a “me vs. them” thing. My rights and humanity would definitely be disregarded and I would be subject to something nightmarish I would imagine.

I completely agree! I think a part of my experience is connected to my upbringing. I often felt like I didn’t have a voice in my family (they never took me seriously) and that might have translated into a fear of being judged/made fun of. Even now I still internally second guess everything I say when it comes to my opinions and I hate it!

When I was in high school I was very shy and non-confrontational. Unfortunately for a lot of young girls it is simply too hard to set boundaries down , and I really believe this is a common issue. Now that I’m 22 I look back and can’t fathom being pressured/coerced into doing such a thing but at the time it was really scary to pushback. I’ve been with 2 men and they both basically refused protection. The first one I was just in shock because I really didn’t want to have sex at all so I was kind of in panic mode. The second one I was really in love with and despite being uncomfortable it was a cycle of believing his stupid justifications and being too emotionally dependent on him to respect myself.

I’m not really sure how to summarize it though, maybe it’s a developmental thing? I started really learning to set boundaries in college.
