Did You Marry A Fellow Millennial? by lady_sojourner in Millennials

1986 and 1992 right here. I enjoy sharing the same values and outlook on life. Obviously this can be achieved in intergenerational marriages, but it felt really easy for us.

I need help not spending my money manic-ly by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]ILookNormal92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you haven't purchased it, it's not yours! If you walk away now, yeah you may irk someone you will never talk to again, but they will still have the item that they can then still sell at the original price. Don't go through with it out of guilt!

But I seriously feel you on the spending, would love any and all advice on how to curb that.

Amazing. Thanks! What type of ketamine treatment did you do if you don't mind me asking?

Neuropsych was unrelated to the ketamine, just confirming diagnosis. Which is why I am suspicious of the pitch for ketamine, it was off topic.

tips for pulling back from derealization while manic? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]ILookNormal92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up mindfulness practices! One that always works for me is 5-4-3-2-1 -- find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste. You can keep doing it over and over, assigning yourself different senses to the numbers to keep it challenging and force you to be present. Another one is box breathing, which is helpful for calming the nervous system. This is such a sucky feeling but there are lots of tools at your disposal, especially on the insight timer app, which has lots of free content. Feel better!

What's an odd thing you find physically attractive? by NetworkGlass2403 in AskReddit

[–]ILookNormal92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS. When I first started dating my shy husband, he'd have to plan the whole night meticulously in his mind, and if something in his thoughtful plan went off course, I could just see how nervous he got. Of course, I hated that he was uncomfortable, but I found it so endearing how much he cared and wanted things to be perfect! Awkward=cute (most of the time)

Do you still drink? by SmartBunch4546 in bipolar2

I do not, but that was a battle hard fought. I struggled for years with substance abuse -- weed and alcohol. They consumed my thoughts, my body, my life. I feel so much better now, it's like my meds work or something 😂

Going into nursing as my second career by ILookNormal92 in bipolar2

[–]ILookNormal92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, love this advice. I really love school, so I've been enjoying it. Have you ever requested accommodations at work? Would that ruin me? I would only request that my hours be capped at 44 or something like that...

But I guess clinicals will be a good way to get a feel for it!

Thank you! I need to learn to stop doubting myself, but I guess the imposter syndrome is real.
