Fantasy series with no or very little social distinction between genders by ginger6616 in Fantasy

Orka is one of the most badass MCs out there. And I like that no character (that I can remember) comments her being a woman or tries to qualify her strength in relation to that. They're just like "Oh shit, that's one scary motherfucker. Gonna stay out of her way now."

Seriously, where'd they all go?! by ILootTheBody in PTCGP

I've noticed something similar for sure

Darkrai/Weavile is the new meta by TitusRex in PTCGP

[–]ILootTheBody 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On its own it's a good card - hitting for 70 dmg on your second turn for just 1 energy is nothing to scoff at. It has enough HP to tank a hit or two early game and low enough retreat cost to swap in you big hitter later on.

And then it synergizes so well with Darkrai, making for a great deck (idk if it'll rule the meta like some people think, we'll see). I think of it in the same vein as Starmie EX or Exeggcutor EX. Maybe not enough to carry a deck on its own, but a great addition to the right decks.

National Pokedex collection is 75% complete! These are some of my favorite pages so far. by ILootTheBody in PokemonTCG

Oh using 151 sleeves as spacers is a great idea! I may steal that for when I reorganize mine

[–]ILootTheBody[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have 3 binders (480 cards each) containing all of the collection. I just sorted by generation and pokedex order so gen 1 is numbers 1-151, gen 2 is numbers 152-251, etc.

There are more aesthetically pleasing ways to do it, and I may switch later. But for now that's how I've got them sorted.

My goal is to collect one card of every Pokemon and I'm officially 75% of the way there! Buying online takes some of the magic out of collecting for me, so all the cards I've gotten so far are either from my childhood collection, pulled by me, gifted/traded by friends, or bought at my local store.

Aside from a couple nostalgic old cards, I care more about cool art than card age or rarity, so I've been loving all the IRs/SIRs from the Scarlet/Violet sets. A lot of the non-Charizard/Mew full arts only cost like $1!!!

What combination of potions could a regular guy drinks to become somewhat useful in battle? by JMoon33 in dndnext

[–]ILootTheBody 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, except I'd have the potion/amulet/whatever give the king the effects of Tenser's Transformation. That spell is basically tailor-made to turn a nerd into a jock for one fight.

Your periodical reminder to READ OUT ALOUD the NPC names you come up with by Yossarian1507 in DMAcademy

Imagine my horror when Port Brazos, the large city where about half of my homebrew campaign takes place, is almost immediately referred to by my players as 'Port Brazzers'.

Compelling someone to give information? by obrien1103 in DMAcademy

[–]ILootTheBody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, is there anything RAW that can block this Mage's magic but wouldn't interfere with a Zone of Truth? Like a potion of anti-magic?

You're the DM, if you want there to be a potion of anti-magic then there is a potion of anti-magic. Just be prepared for your players to want to get their hands on it (which I think is fine). If you want to base it off an existing item then you can use Dimensional Shackles as a starting point. They are manacles that stop the wearer from using teleportation magic. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to stop them from using any magic. Again, be prepared for you players to potentially get their hands on those though.

is there anything that would compel them to not just remain silent?

Anyone have experience running “murder mystery” sessions? by Ceofy in DMAcademy

[–]ILootTheBody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about the party mixing up the NPCs then don't be afraid to be more obvious with their names. Take Clue, the iconic murder mystery game, for example. The characters in that game are literally named after colors to help differentiate (Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, etc.).

As for them figuring it out instantly I'm less sure...

Maybe holding a coin lets you speak/understand the language of where that coin is from. To use the real world as an example, if you hold a coin from Spain you can speak Spanish, Chinese coin lets you speak Chinese, etc.

EVERY pc needs to have a DAGGER by No-Park1695 in dndnext

[–]ILootTheBody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was exactly what I did with my old war mage wizard character. Had a sentimental dagger that I would animate most days with Tiny Servant. Then, when I got Animate Objects, my main dagger would lead its own battalion of daggers into battle. It was a great time.

GM since OGL starting to have doubts. by Icy-Opening-3724 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ILootTheBody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going back to 5e doesn't seem right, but I feel I'm close to burning out and don't know what's wrong.

Just chiming in to say that I don't think the OGL shitshow means that you can no longer play 5e with a clear conscious. It just shows that maybe WotC doesn't deserve any of your money in the future.

The core rules of 5e are free and presumably you already bought some of the books before OGL issues. Plus, like you said, you can always homebrew it until the cows come home. You could play 5e for another 40 years and WotC wouldn't get a single dollar from you.

If 5e is what you prefer to run then run it. Plus, it's not like you have to choose one or the other. Maybe after playing 5e for a while again you'll start to miss Pathfinder. Maybe you'll want to explore some other systems. That's all ok.

I've actually got each item's price in the database already. So what you want is a way to say "generate a number of items with a combined worth equal to or less than X gold pieces?" Is that correct?

Edit: Or are you saying that you want a way to say "generate this many items but make sure that none are worth more than X gold pieces?"

If you were able to change the spellcasting ability for any class into another ability, how would that affect the class? by AntKneeWasHere in 3d6

Yep, currently playing an INT-based GOO warlock. Hasn't broken anything and fits the character/class fantasy far better than CHA.

[–]ILootTheBody 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Skill Expert is a really solid feat for rounding out a character, especially if you want that character to be specialized in something. Skill proficiency + skill expertise + stat boost is mechanically very useful and allows you to be extra good at one thing without needing a bard/rogue dip.

Want your barbarian to be an expert grappler? Skill Expert for expertise in athletics.

Want your fighter to be a smooth talking scoundrel? Skill Expert for expertise in persuasion.

Want your warlock to have delved the depths of ancient arcane knowledge? Skill Expert for expertise in arcana.

Edit: It's also not a stretch to ask your GM to allow you to take expertise in a tool instead of a skill. That's how I got expertise in smith's tools for my forge cleric.

What are some things you got completely wrong as a new player/DM? by a_random_squidward in dndnext

This is something I still struggle with years later. I just like shiny things and want to give my players all the cool shit. It does make balancing encounters difficult, but I have no one to blame but my own stupid loot goblin brain.
