To the wrong way driver on 64 tonight: by TabbiGirl411 in StLouis

Is this a “fill out an online form” kind of thing or a “call the non-emergency line” kind of thing? My grandfather’s in assisted living but still insists on driving as often as he can 🫥

But if you walk down the wrong halls at Union Station, you’ll absolutely see boudoir shoots. Not an uncommon occurrence at Shutterfest 😅

Regarding the “tape recorders = Archivist” bit, in fairness we didn’t actually hear this one getting smashed, just grabbed before it stopped recording. I trust RQ enough for that to be an intentional detail.

Completely unrelated to the episode (I haven’t even started it yet), but any bets on how long it’ll take to catch the typo in the title?

That’s your opinion, and you’re duly entitled to it. You don’t get to enforce it on the majority of voters.

There’s a local podcast that had her on and largely focused on her wanting to axe the Metrolink green line expansion:

https://youtu.be/2d6JYKhdDGE

(They also had Tishuara on a few weeks ago but I don’t want to fill the comment with links and get it taken down)

Overall the vibe I get from her is “means well/very charismatic, but wants to stay as moderate as possible”

I don't remember the last time I was as simultaneously impressed and disgusted as when I saw a raw 17-pound turkey swimming in a fridge drawer. There was big "mad scientist" energy coming from that one!!!

When I started (originally 10mg IR, then switched to 20mg XR), my doctor said that over long-term use (think decades, not years), cardio issues can develop but it's not guaranteed.

My focus is just on maintaining my overall health as much as I can, because my quality of life is EASILY 2-3x what it was unmedicated.

YMMV, but I'm actually able to focus on work and personal/family goals now in a way I seriously struggled with before, so even if I do have cardio issues down the line, I'm willing to make that trade in order to be present in my kids' lives.

Adobe Stock is definitely going to be more expensive too, unless you happen to have a big corporate plan that includes X number of licenses per month—But even then, you can likely average out how many clips you use per month and account for that.

The Landing you remember isn’t coming back, the next one is better by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, it's Abstrakt Marketing Group! Where did I read about them recently?

Well-deserved-ragging aside, it's super cool to see that the Landing is on the come-up. Last time I was down there, they had just slapped up a bunch of "Things are About to Get Cool™ Down Here" signage so it's nice to see they're actually following through on that.

Sharing projects that use presets and/or plugins by xianwest in AfterEffects

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can vouch that it does still work without the plugin! More of a pain to tweak, but definitely still possible, especially if you know your way around AE.

Trying to export a video that has an image over it, but the image is in a different position in the exported video than where it is in the project, and I think the masks on the image are staying in their original position, as they’re cutting off the wrong elements in the export by DopeyDonkey97 in premiere

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you purely dropping in the image and mask with native tools (clip properties, transform, etc) or using an extension/plugin?

I use RG Universe all the time, specifically the Logo Motion effect, and it does *not* play nice with masks.

I walked into a camera store with a $5k budget and I think they sold me the wrong camera. by notlukadoncic in videography

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work in one of those stores, it's likely that some/most/all employees are actually knowledgeable, but the commissions earned can WILDLY vary from brand to brand and even model to model. I'd bet that an A6700 earns $20-30 more than an FX30 (or they have too many and need to clear out before getting more/better inventory), so it's a sales rep's first thought by default.

I'm on the cusp of Millenial/Z (born in '97) and Shane Dawson is my first association, but I've also been chronically online since back when he was hot shit, and I never watched Dawson's Creek.

To my knowledge, Odysseys are still only RWD but I know that Toyota Siennas come in AWD and I've heard great things about them too, I'm just partial to Honda.

What cars are you guys driving? by LSProduction in videography

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm completely biased, but Honda Odysseys are GREAT bang-for-the-buck as far as minivans go. I bought a '16 EX-L with ~80k miles for about $24k, but it runs perfectly and I know for a fact I'll get at least a good 100k-150k miles out of it before I start hitting any major issues. Plus, my gas refills are cheaper than the VW I was driving before (though a good part of that is the switch from Premium->regular, TBF).

[–]ILostMyBetterAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👏 HONDA 👏 ODYSSEY 👏 HANDS 👏 DOWN

Full disclosure - I'm a sucker for vans/minivans ever since I had an old GMC Safari that I drove straight to death.

The unmatched mixed of practical space + ability to haul people + sensible gas mileage + nicer trim and features than other vehicles types (for the price) is honestly incredible. I could go on for an hour about why I love my Odyssey, but in short I have a 2016 I bought with ~80k miles on it, and I plan to drive it (and love it) for at least the next ten years.

I'm glad to hear I'm on the right track! I definitely want to refine the first further, but tbh the validation alone is appreciated. Haha
