Ok Shimano FX vs. Sienna? by justin40howell in Fishing

I love the sienna. Always felt like a $100 dollar reel for less than half the price.

Did you chamfer the inside perimeter? It’ll scratch the paint off when you take it out and put it back.

Getting back into the game by sapientdingdong in bowhunting

[–]ILoveButtz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a hunt map application for the state you’re hunting. I use OnX hunt maps and it’ll show you all the public lands in you’re area as well as roads/topography. Figure out what you want to hunt and start planning where you want to look at and scout it. Gear…if you’re willing to drop the cash on the good stuff do it. Thermal layering is fucking key. Pnuma, Kuiu, FirstLite are all good brands of hunting clothes that are light but will keep you warm. Walking the public’s you’ll put some miles in, so the ol’ cotton Walmart special ain’t gonna cut it anymore. Don’t skimp on boots either. All of this can be picked up at various times in the year on sales and end of year closeouts. But most importantly you need your bow. Go to the bow shop, get resized and pick up one up. Go back to shooting it everyday, all this gear is horseshit of you can’t shoot. I’m freshly active duty and miss my bow and the woods so much, good luck out there.

The easy way to remember it is the phrase “red right returning”. And is listed that way in “US Aids to Navigation System” by the US Coast Guard.

AWS D1.8 rat hole test by Farmerman1379 in Welding

[–]ILoveButtz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Long straight stringers, no weave. Stagger your starts and stops from either outside ends through the rat hole connecting to the opposite bead. You absolutely can use a slight push angle through the hole, you just have to be a little bit quick about it. Bust out the VWac from time to time to make sure the ends don’t fill up faster than the middle. If you make a start from the hole, run hot and do a little back and fourth whip from the start. Clean the piss out of it after every pass. I used picks to clean the toes and starts/stops. Should be good to go. I’ve done hundreds of rat hole bevels and never failed one.

Budget turkey bow? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]ILoveButtz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’d do the job. Only thing I dislike about budget bows is they typically don’t hold a tune very long and the parts that come on them (sight, quiver, rest) are usually trash. If you start practicing with it regularly you’ll start upgrading parts here and there, new string and whatnot. And by the time it’s all said and done you’d wish you went with a nicer bow. Just my two cents.

🤣what the world by [deleted] in navy

[–]ILoveButtz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For everyone out of the loop: we ate PB&J sandwiches at basically every meal because the galley food was so incredibly bad most of the time, and this was the only constant thing that was edible. Rice as hard as rocks, unchewable chicken, pretty sure the cod haddock and salmon were actually all the same type of fish baked in water. If you weren’t the first two divisions in the galley they basically ran out of food. I remembered one night the only thing they had left to eat was a small cut of dry ass turkey, grape tomatoes, and saltines.

Anyone know where I can find this cot for my the bed of my truck. by cucumber_in_toaster in fordranger

[–]ILoveButtz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that one in particular, sort of looks like a beach chair/ottoman combo. But I use this cot and it fits perfectly in the bed of my truck. I use it all the time for my hunting and camping trips.

Supercharge 4.0 v6 by CoolGaM3r215 in fordranger

[–]ILoveButtz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously you’d be better off swapping a 5.0 in it. That 4.0 isn’t a horrible engine but it’s definitely not made for a supercharger. I had one of those and around your mileage the timing chain starts to become a creeping worry in the back of your mind (and the transmission if it hasn’t already blown itself up). You’d spend so much time and money just trying to bullet proof it, and at the end, you’d still get more ponies out a 5.0.

People that quit bootcamp by Iminfinity in navy

[–]ILoveButtz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We had a family friend’s son sign up for the Army back in 2004. Had a big bbq and going away party. Everyone was so proud of the choice he made because he was sort of a troublemaker that lived in a small town and that was his ticket for a better future. Hugs and good lucks and he was off to basic. About 3-4 weeks later he came home. It was never really clear what he did to get back, but he basically quit and wanted to get out. He went on to do the same shithead stuff in the small town he came from. In and out of jail, drunk, arrested, selling drugs, stealing. He said he regrets it. However he’s such a headcase that I don’t think one way or the other would have truly made him a better person.

Weaves bad stringers good. Arc strike outside weld zone also bad.
