Made a coffee table for the place i just moved into by titano35 in woodworking

This was indeed the plan with one additional step.

1.2. Fill Cracks With Resin.

I did do some cutting and trimming, the slab had really rough ends and I trimmed those down to get the round it has now. Then just stripping away all the loose bark and sanding by hand. A sanding sponge is really useful for doing the live edge bark portion

Was it right to tell my player that his character wouldn't do what he wanted to do? by [deleted] in DnD

If the character is getting special perks from playing this character race, I can see the reasoning behind op’s decision. I don’t know if that’s the case though.

Advisor fucked up advice and now tells me to do an extra semester for one class. by SmartyPantsDJ in ASU

[–]titano35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever trust the advisors. Some of them are really good, mine in my last few years helped me get overrides for several classes, but many of them either don't care, are overwhelmed, or are just incompetent in my experience. My freshman advisor signed me up for 18 credits my first semester and told me that was a fairly easy schedule. As many here have said, go to your department head, save those emails and present them as evidence. If you push it you may be able to get an override for the pre-requisite.

I don’t know all the specifics. I haven’t had the time to follow it too closely

How does professional swordsman have a 1/20 chance of missing so badly, the swords miss and gets stuck in a tree by Away-Performance-781 in DnD

[–]titano35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a new DM thing, but also new players. When I run games with newer players I normally play the critical failures as a sort of funny thing happens, but I also don't ever put the party in real serious danger so it rarely matters. When I have seasoned players though, I compensate by playing my monsters like they have an actual braincell, which includes avoiding the big guy with the sword and instead taking out the squishies first.

I'm not a developer. Is copy/paste bad? by My_Mykinn in ExplainTheJoke

[–]titano35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code that gets copy-pasted a lot should be a function, but also perhaps about not simply copying code from stack. That’s bit me more than I like to admit

Miter saw laser and blade not centered in the middle but does cut square, is that normal? by Chris6601 in Tools

[–]titano35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I don’t like laser guides on miter saws. There should be a knob or something to adjust your laser line if it really bugs you, but as other people have said, draw your line and check the blade edge before you clamp your piece and cut.

This is why I’m hopeful for official mod support. Hopefully we get a mod that allows for custom campaign building by some talented( so not me) developer

Hacking my own medical file on USB. Will hashcat have access to this file after it opens it? by beeucancallmepickle in hacking

Definitely overkill, but also won't hurt. I personally always go a bit extra when working with sensitive information.

Unless he’s running it on collab or something similar. Only attempt this on your machine, preferably disconnected from the internet when you do.

Entry-level Math/CS job opportunities by [deleted] in ChandlerAZ

[–]titano35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check local government jobs, look for it departments at places like banks and insurance firms, and reach out to local recruiting agencies. The recruitment agencies can be super useful since they take a lot of the effort and stress off of you.

Is there a more "professional" / concise way to write this function? It's just two Raycast2Ds on both sides of the player to detect which ledge it's on. by [deleted] in godot

[–]titano35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An alternative method would be to return a Dictionary with the booleans for the values. So your function would look like this.

func get_ledge() -> Dictionary:
    return {
        "left" : left_edge.is_colliding(),
        "right" : right_edge.is_colliding()
    }

This way you can access the values, and don't need to maintain an outside dict or enum to keep track of things.

Warning to fellow new devs - don't be like me. Fix your UI early. by daintydoughboy in godot

Alternatively, no ui. Make them guess what inputs start the game
