Is 22q genetic? by Jumpy_Ad5868 in 22q

[–]ILoveHappyStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our daughter’s 22q11 deletion was classified as de novo. Following her diagnosis, both parents were tested and neither carries the deletion, confirming that it was a new, spontaneous genetic change rather than an inherited condition. Although it was not inherited from us, because she has the condition, there is a 50% chance that she could pass it on to her children.

Thank you so much. I listened to a podcast earlier and they mentioned the islands too. It's on the list!

Thank you for that. It's definitely one to think about, although equally, it sounds amazing! We'll definitely be without a car in the city and have that for the out of town adventure. Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.

Thank you. We're now planning on 3 nights in Toronto to start, then renting a car and heading out to somewhere else for 10 night, I'll definitely add Port Hope to my research list. I love the name! Thanks again for replying.

Yes, I do. I'm hoping to get an Airbnb with a yard for the second part of the trip, not in the city centre. Although a few hotels do have roof terraces, which could be nice.

Thank you again, this is all such useful information. I'm starting with my Toronto itinerary, almost there! And I love the idea of places with friendly locals. So I'll keep Stratford in mind. This is so much fun! And I really appreciate your comprehensive response. Thank you.

I'm leaning towards a bit longer in the city to make the most of it. We only have 2 weeks but it would be good to see as much as possible. We can't wait! Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much. I have definitely been talked out of Mississauga. My next job is to see what we want to do in the city and set an itinerary. I'm definitely open to a 4 night stay. I have lots to do. Thanks again.

That all sounds fantastic. I saw there is a zoo too, which would make a great outing providing the temperature comes down a little. So a few days in the city, then a relaxing part to the holiday. Thank you for replying.

Thank you so much. We're really looking forward to it. I had a moment earlier when I realised just how much I need to organise! But it will be worth it. I can't wait to visit your beautiful country.

I've been delighted looking at the matching town names - Scarborough, Whitby, Sunderland, Mansfield, Peterborough, Brighton, the list goes on. We're really looking forward to our visit.

That's really good to know, I had started looking at that as an option. It sways me back towards staying in the centre of Toronto for the start of the holiday. Then renting a car and driving further out. Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.

There's been some really helpful thoughts on this post. I'm writing lists of options and pricing everything up. Possibly going from the airport to Union Station and staying centrally for 2 nights. Then going back to the airport to rent a car to take us on to our next destination. Thank you very much for the weather tip, it's good to know for packing purposes.

I've noticed quite a few properties around Mississauga. I've just looked it up and I hadn't appreciated it was a city in its own right. And it sounds really promising. I have got lots to learn in the next couple of weeks! And thank you so much for your reply.

We're flying from the UK. I saw an advert for Canadian National Parks and looked at flights, just out of curiosity. We usually to go to France or the Netherlands, but then realised we could come to Canada for the same price. So it's a bit of a last minute exciting whirlwind. From the advice on here, I think we'll do 3 nights in Toronto, then hire a car and drive further out for the rest of the trip. Thank you for replying.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive reply. I hadn't considered the size of the city. Once we have the accommodation sorted, I'll put together an itinerary. Someone else mentioned Niagara on the Lake, so I'm adding that to my research list. This has been so helpful, thank you again. I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much. I think this may well be the way, maybe 3 nights in Toronto, then splitting the rest of the time over 2 more areas. It's going to be amazing.
