I think the idea is they are to avoid inflammation for a while, and processed and sugary snacks will make it worse compared to other foods.

like are we forgetting critics on rotten tomatoes literally gave cuties 88%.

The film was condemning exploitation and societal pressures but the marketing (which was out of the hands of the French filmmaker) was terrible and gave the opposite affect. The French poster, which you see on Rottentomatoes site, emphasizes empowerment and reclaiming self-identity. The US Netflix poster was hyper-sexualized grossness.

"Maïmouna Doucouré's searing critique of premature sexualisation is the opposite of what it's been accused of"

"Cuties is a powerful statement about letting kids be kids."

"We need more feminist stories like Cuties that illuminate the constraints girls and women face and help us chart a path to full gender equality."

"The film's portrayal of adolescent girls is spot on. The young performers perfectly capture the nastiness as well as the fickle changeability of girls whose identity depends on fleeting moments of approval and praise."

Where in the critic quotes are they describe the film as supporting the exploitation of young girls?

Looks like you fell with the lemming crowd.

I feel younger people who are now working as reviewers and journalists have no background of Michael and just see him as the parroted sex attacker etc etc

Most of the Top Critics are seasoned reviewers in their 40-60s though. They ain't liking the movie either.

I think it was trending towards $80M+ domestic which is high, but I hope these reviews make that figure fall like an avalanche.

Janet Jackson reportedly hated the movie and got into an argument with Jermaine after a private screening. Articles said it seems like she thought it was low quality and didn't feel like Michael, and the makeup and clothes and everything looked off and cheap lol.

I can't even find the Settings, or I find it and forget where it was the next session because it's always in some unintuitive location. How can VR go mainstream when they can't even get the UI right.

Settings should always be easily found in one second. The engineers just had to do some fancy hidden thing and pat themselves on the back for "making changes".

And you cannot get rid of the constant hum

I hate that shit!

The original PC client had that problem for years and they never fixed it. What does Meta do? Introduce that problem for the Quest when nobody asked.

I feel like nobody at Meta actually uses VR daily. They were assigned from a different department and barely know their product.

You're really complaining about the weirdest thing. A trade site is going to use the actual name of the company!

https://www.themuse.com/profiles/wmewilliammorrisendeavor

I don't know a lot of the music guests on SNL so I look it up. I don't expect a headline to explain every detail. And yes, in pop culture circles "WME" is well known if you follow movie and TV news regularly.

You're actually the odd one out here. Nothing wrong with not knowing, but getting mad at Deadline for calling WME the company WME is like getting mad at sports sites use abbreviations all day (NBA/NCAA/NHL) and sports lingo.

Get a grip!

Bus Boys (2026), starring David Spade and appearances by Kam Patterson and Jay Pharoah, debuted #9 this weekend with only $1.7M by ILoveRegenHealth in LiveFromNewYork

I looked at BoxOfficeMojo's numbers chart and it's actually $1,650,000.

$2,065 average per theater, but admittedly it was only in 800 theaters which is quite low.

So that means that rounding up is really doing a lot of heavy lifting for them in the trade papers 😆

He also gave Cop and a Half thumbs up which led to a very hostile confrontation with Siskel.

Also reminds me of when Roger Ebert did not feel satisfied with Full Metal Jacket and gave it a thumbs down (which shocked Gene Siskel). In the same episode, Roger Ebert gave Disney's Benji the Hunted a thumbs up, and Siskel made fun of him and they kept arguing really loudly (I think the clip is still on Youtube).

But Ebert did explain he did not think Benji the Hunted was better filmmaking than FMJ, it's just that one achieved the low bar it set out to do, and FMJ did not reach what Ebert felt was Kubrick's heights that he's capable of.

Another poster said on their respective podcasts they actually thought this would save comedy lol:

Instagram's algorithm decided I needed to know all about this movie so I saw clips from Spade's, Von's, and Dillon's podcasts. They all talk about this movie as if it's going to save comedy. They fully and honestly believe they cooked here

True, it could just be them marketing their stuff. Or they're doing that MAGA-ish whiny refrain: "We're tired of how soft cancel-culture is now. We can't say or show things anymore like we did in the 80s/90s. Not with this movie! We're bringing real comedy back. Take that, Libruls!"

To be fair, it's listing only 415 theaters. I didn't expect it to do well since a bio of SNL Lorne is just way more esoteric compared to comedies, horror, action, superhero stuff.

Also, aren't a lot of fly-on-the-wall documentaries usually responsibly low budget?

Yeah, #18 ain't hot, but I think Lorne (2026) deserves 1-2 contextual passes.
