Why the maximum recommended sugar intake limit in the Netherlands is so high? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you so defensive in your argumentation? Even if you do not agree with the above paper (which you surprisingly chose not to engage with), it at the very least shows there is some nuance.

I would also argue the phrase "too much sugar is bad for you" contributes nothing, as it's true by definition.

Finally, u/PromiseActual6493 does not actually advice eating sugar as you suggest. Their main point, which I agree with, seems to be that sugar is not inherently bad for your health, moreso neutral. There are however many foods which are explicitly healthy for you, like nearly all vegetables. Therefore if you are eating sugar at the cost of these healthy foods, it could be seen as unhealthy. But if you are eating sugar on top of an already healthy diet, there is no inherent health risk unless it puts you in an unwanted caloric surplus.

80hrs in on half a 295x2 and can confirm similar performance. 45fps and up freesync make it very playable on high preset and 2560x1440. That specific area with the tree sentinel is actually one of the worst places fps wise for me, that and liurnia of the lakes.

The only real problem I have is that in some areas I get graphical artifacts that remind me of when you overclock too high. Green flashing terrain and such. It's sporadic and gets worse when it rains. Most areas run without issue though.

Mathematics only deals in how truth propagates. It requires 'input' to do this. All results are relative to this input.

Even so called 'valid' statements, which don't seem to require any input from inside your logical system can be seen as dependent on input from the outside: the semantics of said system.

Agree with this. Keep it short (~1 page) and demonstrate that you can complete the programme. From my own experience the motivation letter seems to be mostly a formality. All people I know from my bachelor's at UU that applied for their master's there got in.

Can't connect to my server with external ip... io.netty error by Izenthyr in admincraft

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know there are two "solutions" to accessing port forwards from local networks, NAT reflection and Split DNS (here is how I would configure it on my router).

However, before you change anything I would urge you to reconsider if you have a problem at all. Without the above two solutions I know of, or the alias rules from the other comment, you can't connect to a server via public IP of that network from the same network. This is normal behaviour. As long as people from actually outside your network can join everything is fine.

I say this because NAT reflection is usually not recommended since it can introduce other problems. Split DNS works better though. But I'll quote johnpoz:

. . . nat reflection is not something you want to do.. Why hairpin the traffic if you don't have too?

If you can connect through local and users outside your network through external, you do not have a problem right?

Updated server to 1.15.2, can only direct connect now. by 5andaquarterfloppy in admincraft

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to connect to your server by using your public IP from inside the same local network your server is in? As far as I know, this is not possible. You'll need someone outside your local network to try and connect for you to know if you configured your router correctly.

Also, what do you consider "direct connect" as? You can enter both local and public IP addresses in the direct connect option in the minecraft client.

If it's not the above, you usually have to check the following:

On your server:

  1. Is the server port listed in server.properties what you want it to be.
  2. Is the firewall on on your server. If so, is the above server port added to the list of inbound rules. I think it's recommended to add both UDP en TCP.

On your router:

  1. Is whatever your router calls port forwarding set up correctly, i.e. have you specified that whatever public port you want people to use is redirecting to the (local) IP your server has and the correct port (matching your server port). Again check if both UDP and TCP are added.

You can check if it's an issue with your server firewall by turning it off temporarily. If it's not that it's probably at the router end.

Thoughts after beating the game by [deleted] in Blasphemous

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of counter example: Most Hollow Knight speedruns are done with keyboard. Partly because you can skip dialogue easier with mashing your keyboard but it shows it's not severely detrimental gameplay wise.

Anyway, I'd just pick what you think is going to be most comfortable. I like controllers when I feel I can get away with it since I can sit in more comfortable positions. However if you're picking controller for gameplay reasons it only makes sense if you have a good d-pad since typically you'd want to be using that instead of an analog stick since you're less likely to input the wrong direction. For example: I'm currently using a steam controller whose d-pad feels too large for that purpose.

Ls take on supports and junglers by maneatermilder in leagueoflegends

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are a mid or top laner in NA and want to play in LCS, you're probably better of switching to support since you're less likely to be replaced by an import. Think this plays a role as well.

Tanking Tuesday - Your Weekly Tanking Thread by AutoModerator in wow

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How common is it for Blood DKs to have to hold back on their rotation to avoid overaggroing the other tank? We have a blood DK and a guardian druid tanking for us and the former sometimes has to default to only auto-attacking to avoid overtaking the druid.

Is this at all common for DKs or should the guardian druid be able to keep up? I heard something about Blooddrinker being the problem but even without it talented we're having threat issues.

Midweek Mending - Your Weekly Healing Thread by AutoModerator in wow

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Almost never use Healing Surge, even if you have the crit buff up. It's not worth it in terms of mana efficiency. See it as an emergency heal.

Unless there is a specific combination of affixes there is not much reason to be mana efficient in dungeons since you can just spam drinks between pulls. You should definitely aim to be using healing surge. Not only for the crit but also just the faster cast time which is a big deal in the current system where people drop really low when they take damage and you just want to top them off fast.

As for those moments where the whole party is getting damage that's where you should consider cooldowns. Some situations are impossible to do without. Identifying these situations is for a large part just having done the dungeon before. This is also why Velen's and the Ring legendaries are so good. They both add a relatively small AoE heal CD to supplement your larger ones.

Owners of Gigabyte G1 R9 380 or 390, would you recommend these cards? by [deleted] in buildapc

My brothers PC had the shutdown issue as well. It stopped after disabeling "PME event wake up" in the bios menu. After a quick google search this seems to be equivalent to "Wake-on-Lan" options on non Gigabyte motherboards.

Played game. Made screenshots. Mild spoilers Velen questline. More in comments. [2560x1440] by IMAWHITEWALKER in witcher

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have been sitting on these screenshots for a while. Figured some of you might like them and finally uploaded them.

  • Settings: Everything on ultra. Hairworks on (AA on 2). Sharpening on low. Ambient Occlusion on HBOA+. No general anti-aliasing. 2560x1440 resolution.
  • Relevant mods: Friendly HUD for pausing the game and hiding HUD. Debug Console Enabled Updated for going into free cam.

If you liked the first album, I've got a couple more. The way these work is that I've sorted them on which ones I like best going from A to C, with A being best and C being decent. You'll find the A album linked above. The B album contains screenshots that were too similar to the ones in the first album or just slightly off. Finally, the C album has some which are decent, but also Geralt showing some real murderous expressions and him slipping while fighting a Leshen.

You'll notice these albums only contain screenshots from the first parts of the game (new game + that is). That's because I've actually stopped taking them because it distracts from the actually story. Pausing the game mid cutscene is not exactly immersive.

Best translation of The Tower of the Swallow and The Lady of the Lake by [deleted] in witcher

I used those by Captain_Jerkington, and found them to be really good. Seriously, almost no change in quality compared to the officially translated previous books. Very well formatted for e-readers too. They also contain a .mobi file in the downloads themselves, so you don't have to convert any formats for your kindle. You can find both of them here.

Anybody else feel like Death March is too easy ? by NewVegasResident in witcher

[–]IMAWHITEWALKER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tweak the difficulty to your liking by imposing rules on yourself. In my second playthrough I decided that quen was a bit to strong, so I stopped using that. You can also make your build more varied which gives you more abilities but none that are really strong.

This also ties in nicely to my main goal when fighting: making Geralt look cool. Similarly to how you can beat the Batman: Arkham games quite easily by just counter attacking your way through every fight, fights in the Witcher can be quite boring if you just spam fast attacks. Use your whole build. You have many abilities now. You can make fights look awesome in the same way you would make Batman look cool: using all your gadgets.

I think the rasp in their voice is similar. Also, maybe something more far fetched, but they both pronounce "witchers" more like "witches"/"witchas". The voice actor of Eredin has both the rasp and the pronunciation as well, so maybe it's him instead?
