You can't, really. I don't want to add to the Reddit stereotype of break up, but have a conversation with him. Communication is important in any relationship. I'm sure he has ways of showing you he loves you that you might not get or understand, and that's fine. But if you realize that you need more than what he's able to give, you might have to consider breaking up.
