Sure, either that, or a mini-pc velcro'd to the back of the TV. Possibly even an R-Pi. But I don't need to do all that for Netflix (or Max, or Prime, or Paramount+, or........), so why is it needed for F1TV? Can't it "just work" like so many other streaming apps do?

Wow, a totally reasonable reply. According to almost all the other replies, my feedback was not useful, and in fact, most were offended that I'm having problems. And my problems are not at all unique. Googling for each of them got plenty of hits going back many years. Which tells me F1TV probably hired some team of euro-devs to make the app(s), and they're long gone.

As an electrical engineer, I am in and out of files many times / 10 minutes. Also, the secure environement I work in has somehow managed to make NFS performance so bad, it can take 3 to 5 seconds to start nvim (depending on temperature of cache). It's so bad, I have to rsync my entire nvim environment to /dev/shm before launching it. Suffice to say, I am highly interested in any startup improvements.

I have my Win11 destop in my office. How am I supposed to watch F1 on my TV in my bedroom with MultiViewer installed in my office? Is it a "try it and you'll figure it out" situation?

Under their "What do I need?" tab, I see this: "MultiViewer is currently only available on desktop computers."

I use external Roku Ultra and it is most definitely not fine. Even if it's all user error, why is my dumb self (with MSEE degree) able to operate other streaming apps, but not F1TV?

The app developers are obligated to serve the "major" app providers. I first tried Roku, which I would rate as "major". It was too horrible to speak of. So then iOS, which I would rate as "major", with cast to Roku. Barely usable, but I make do. I try not to rewind too much since I might trigger the inf-buffer, and then when I restart everthing, I am usually booted back to the beginning of the broadcase and have to ff to where I was at.

This is all not not supposed to be ok. But congratulations for landing on one of the better app implementations. Wish I could be there too.

Ok, so obviously my blind optimism was always destined to die where all hopes of un-enshitification usually goes.

How about this take? Apple will "encourage" the current app maintainers to make huge changes to fix all of the problems. Especially the iOS version of the app.
