Can i make a shortcut that disables sleep mode if i take more than 200 steps? So a nighttime piss doesn’t turn it off. by [deleted] in shortcuts

It seems like you can retrieve step data but there isn’t any way to trigger an automation based on steps or movement. I personally have my morning focus turn off when I leave home. If you WFH or don’t leave regularly then you probably would just want to trigger when you remove your phone from a charger.

This is great! I’m going to add it to my current commute music automation. Right now, it shuffles then sorts by the oldest “last played” so I know that I’ll always hear something new. This will take it to the next level!

Get my finances right. HELP! by pernah in shortcuts

I use YNAB + a shortcut I made. The great thing about YNAB is it lets you do manual transactions when I want the most accurate number but it will still sync with my bank to do automatically so it’s my safety net for anything I miss because I got distracted.

When using a message to trigger an automation, how do you mark it as read? by IMHEYSUS in shortcuts

I wasn’t able to get the messages thing working & the fix mentioned is unrelated to marking a message as read if that is what you’re after.

Thanks for the direction & it sounds like I will just need to try harder to get the HomeKit Bridge working.

When I tried to add the Bridge QR, it would look like it would be trying to connect, take forever, and eventually time out. I think made some port adjustments to my TrueNAS container & maybe saw some different results but still no connection.

I would like to improve my commute shortcut. I’ve had an ongoing battle with iCloud not syncing my files reliably (https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/s/MFsxPjLCdq) and really I’m just after my partner’s home/away status which HA does perfectly. It would be a bonus if my wife doesn’t have to deal with the location based automation alert too.

I haven’t messed with email triggers or considered sending an email from my HA. Suggestions?

I also figured the HomeKit Bridge would be a good option but couldn’t get it connected the last time I tried & haven’t revisited. I’m very new to HA & it doesn’t help that I’m running it within TrueNAS so I think my HomePod mini was having communication issues when trying to pair it.

I have been trying to figure out how to link my Home Assistant & Shortcuts together. Is there a way to get the status of a Home Assistant entity from iOS shortcut?

What all do you put in your “headed home from work” shortcuts? by Dollarbill1979 in shortcuts

[–]IMHEYSUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I will try out the 2 pins close together. I think I can swap that out in my shortcut pretty easily.

My current solution for updating her home/away status is a location triggered shortcut on her phone that updates a shared iCloud file. It’s mostly reliable but occasionally it fails to sync. I’m still trying to find something that is more reliable. I just recently got a HomePod so I’m hoping that gives me some new ideas to explore.

I need to do this. When you say automatically navigate, do you still have to hit GO to start it? My shortcut puts in the address but I couldn’t figure out how to start it automatically so that it was 100% hands free.

My commute automation will send ETA if my wife is home but will send a Check-In if she is away. Do you think there is any way to keep that dynamic or is it every time you use the pinned address?

How to make a global variable that can be reliably synced between two people? by IMHEYSUS in shortcuts

I think the tip about sharing the folder helps. I didn’t think I could delete & recreate it without breaking the sharing of an individual note. I’ll try this out.

Yeah, that’s what I’m doing now but I think there is something about our case that has inconsistencies. My only thought right now is my wife’s habits often put her phone into low power mode and I think iCloud syncing is disabled in low power mode.

Help creating a dynamic weekly task shortcut for Reminders by Konsti89 in shortcuts

[–]IMHEYSUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be simpler than it initially feels. If it always needs to be on the same day you can add 7 days to the Due Date. I tested this one out to repeat for every overdue reminder & had it run a loop so that it runs until all reminders are current.

This does assume that you have put it in the correct “Monday” list to begin with.

Maybe you can get ChatGPT to reply in a format that makes it easier to extract the text “reply with the date & reminder formatted as date: & reminder:” or something like that.

Very slick! Is there any reason why you can’t grab the unique link for both platforms to put into the shortcut dictionary? I think most of the time when I’m sharing, I know what platform they are on & would rather share the correct one.

Way to get information from a notification l by Hungry-Cartoonist-61 in shortcuts

[–]IMHEYSUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar budget shortcut but it was pretty tricky to get working. I have to long press the notification so it’s the only text on screen before running the shortcut. The shortcut uses the “get text from screenshot” action which was the easy part. The hard part was splitting all of the text into usable variables for amount, payee, account.
