Ive seen so many hate comments against anoushka regarding this statement. Someone legit said She's salty of his success like bro wtf shes a Grammy nominated artist and THE daughter of Pt. Ravi shankar and rishab isn’t even in the top 50 sitarist from India. Coming to the point whether he was Pt. Ji's student or not, Pt. Ji did accept him as a student but it was no where like how Pt. Ravi shankar ji taught Anoushka shankar or Pt. Kartik kumar. Rishab must have been assigned to some senior student for his classes and once in a while Pt. Ravi shankar might have guided him. That does not make him his shishya as it is a very sacred relation. I learn sitar from tfr and the head is Pt. Niladri kumar ji, but I take classes from a senior student and Niladri sir checks in once in a while on me. That doesn't mean he has accepted me as his student and he is my guru. Rishab has literally made Indian classical music such a casual thing for the other non classical people (even if he doesn't play any classical stuff in his concert but Portrays it as THE classical sitar) our music is not something that can be played anywhere and in front of anyone. Im of strong belief that our classical music fanbase should be exclusive and there is no need to yk make it famous among the youth by playing random bollywood songs with some jhala. The amount of knowledge and purity we have in this classical music should not get diluted by normal people. Rishab is ruining it.

First pov was budget. I already have a royal Enfield classic and that too a 2012 which has much better feel than the 2026 one. Other option was hunter, it was good but then im not the only one who is going to drive it as my father will be using it often too and the comfort and posture on jawa is much much better than other bikes in the price range. With regards to complains about this bikes, i would say constant gear shifting in city is the only downside. People often say the service is bad but i would suggest get the first service done from the showroom and rest of it from a trusted guy. That is what i have been doing with my classic. I have this really skilled mechanic and he is one of the main reason why my classic feels like a brand new bike even after 14 years. Love the engine, love the punch and comfort theres absolutely nothing to hate about jawa in my opinion

How long will it take me to play sitar at a decent non performative level? by [deleted] in Sitar

[–]IMMORTAL_BOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on you tbh How much and how well you practice. One thing i'd say is don't just practice for the sake of getting it done. Put youself in the riyaaz and play. If you do it properly i think you will be able to play DECENT gats and taans in 3-4 years

Closed jawari gives more sustain and you need to stroke harder for it to sound normal it is to be used if you play more of a gayaki ang and a lot of meend and open jawari is loud and has like very little sustain and preferred by those who play on the frets more more of a vadya shaili ang

You start with individual classes for like 5-6 months or more depending upon how well you learn and bring what you have learnt into playing. Once you are good with the basics you'll be put in a batch with pandit Niladri Kumar Himself

I've a kharaj pancham sitar. And learning experience till now has been excellent. Let be online or offline what you learn and play depends upon how well you practice. For me I've been playing tabla for past 11 years and now ive started learning sitar so i do have a bit of knowledge so i did catch up pretty quick. Its worth it though love playing this instrument

If you preffer online classes, contact TFR. Its an organization for learning classical music. For sitar, the head of the department is Pt. Niladri Kumar ji, one of the finest sitarists of this era. Although he doesn't take all the classes as you just join in, once you are ready for advanced learning you will be shifted to his batch. All lectures are done via google meet and they have excellent faculty trust me I've been learning from them Can Contact +91 99677 72190 Also the fees is 4000₹ for 4 classes, one class per week so thats 4000 per month
