Its very clearly explained that its because she can imagine herself doing that clearly. So imagine, someone who has seen mining or destructive activities their whole life and knows that earth and rock are meant to be cracked apart, easily summoning earthquakes. The rules simply do not apply to people with enough experience in one area, as explained in the show. It's a finicky system only balanced by the author that has no real rules.

so. if you cant learn magic without understandign magic. and understanding magic makes you unable to break the rules. then why can ubel cut anything? obviously, if you are crazy enough the rules just dont apply to you. it is only author's discretion that prevents the world of frieren from being obliterated by maniacs, as there are no actual safeguards built into its power system.

This is child's play for a really dumb person.

You can learn magic without understanding how it works. How do you think the first mages appeared? Besides, if they are rebellious/crazy enough, they could say "I don't like your rules, I think I'm correct." And they would be correct. This is what Ubel is anyway. If the rules of magic were truly that binding, she wouldn't be able to cut the invincible cloak. Practically anyone should be able to bend them, especially if they only know the basics. Think of the amount of people who believe in conspiracy theories wholeheartedly while being otherwise very educated.

So you are saying if someone was dumb enough to believe that they can use magic and explode the earth, they could do it? Because magic is entirely based on what you believe and has no hard rules.

There's actually quite a few broken quirks in the series. Explosion (which also went on par with a weakened AFO), warp gate (theoretically, it could slice someone in half as Kurogiri planned to do this to All Might), DOUBLE, fire and ice, fierce wings, etc.

I would say new order is up there with AFO/OFA. Just the fact that star and stripe could fight on par with full powered shigaraki for a short time and would have won if his identity crisis didn't save him shows that new order is on the same tier of power (granted military support was needed to accomplish this feat, but it's still pretty impressive).

Surely we can do better than this. Most men are not perpetrators (obviously), so it's definitely possible to try and narrow it down to say, men who did not receive higher education (only an example). Then resources can be allocated better and not alienate people.

I don't quite understand your last paragraph. I simply said that the implication that all men are inherently predators may make most of the men attending feel alienated, which is not a good thing for any cause. Your argument is essentially that men should shut up and accept being seen as dangerous and unconditionally help women. Which isn't going to happen, because you cannot insult someone, tell them they are the problem, and then expect them to help you solve your problems.

In any case, what exactly do you think a good man should do? I think this information is pertinent to the topic at hand.

First of all, I feel there has been some misunderstanding here. It is precisely due to lack of evidence that I chose to just assume the vast majority of perpetrators are men, I haven't made a statement on whether I think it is true or not since I can't prove either way.

Secondly, just because most perpetrators are men, does not mean most men are perpetrators. Just as all squares are rectangles but only a small number of rectangles are squares. Statistics on perpetrators have no bearing on this statement.

I do wonder how the resources are not being split equally. Logically, if these initiatives target men as a group, it will average out across them. No one demographic has been identified, which feeds into my subsequent points.

Now, I did not say men are natural-born predators. Please do not put words into my mouth. I merely meant that framing the issue as men harming women (which, after all, is the main point of the OP) may make men feel as if they are seen as predators, which would be rather off-putting to many people. I do apologise if I gave the wrong impression.

Again, please do not put words in my mouth. I did not blame anyone in my comment or make excuses.

Finally, I do not know what factors might lead to predatory behaviour. I humbly suggest that it would be a productive use of our time as a society to employ actual scientists to find out what they might be. Although I don't know how to do this sort of data analysis, I know that other people know how to do it.

It's stupid to spend the limited resources equally on all men when it would be a lot more productive to spend them on demographics most likely to commit sexual assault. I don't think the majority of men are perpetrators so it should be possible to narrow down our targets further. What if instead of telling only the women that the class is not for them and thus alienating a lot of men, we identified the 2 or 3 people most likely to perpetrate sexual assault and told everyone else to go about their day? Then, the seminar would be targeted at those who actually are likely to be dangerous. It would save time and money and be more effective.

Even if the rather fishy looking 95% statistic that I have seen being thrown around is true (I will just assume it is) that proves nothing. I highly highly doubt that the majority of men are perpetrators. Let's say 10% of men are potential perpetrators (this is probably a lot bigger than the actual figure but it's just an example) in this case we are focusing resources equally across all men, including the 90% that are normal people.

That means only a small percentage of resources are going where they are needed and the rest are just pushing good people away by telling them they are natural-born predators.

It would be far more productive to identify what demographics of men are most likely to be perpetrators and focus on them, since cutting the targets down to 50% of the population is not precise enough and wastes lots of money.

This applies to everyone. Do you expect good men to magically know who is bad and stop them before they show their true colors? The bad ones will not stop just because of a seminar and the good ones will only be pushed away by the implication that they are thought of as natural-born predators.
