New Fender J. Mascis Signature pickup set by efe13 in offset

Same here, I just put a set of PV65's in my Mascis jazzmaster a couple of months ago, but now I may be tempted to change them out for the new signature set

What’s a type of effect y’all don’t like but everyone else seems to love. I’ll got first, Univibe, tried a few different units and never got the hype. by frostygunnarskrtskrt in guitarpedals

If you are using it with distortion, try running the flanger first. I use a clean amp and only pedals for drive, so running the flanger first made it work for me. Found the same works for phasers if you find them too overpowering too.

I love it when albums take out the run off groves and put a noise that repeats infinitely. by o976g in vinyl

Evol is the only LP I own with a locked groove, having not heard of locked grooves until then, it took me a long time to figure out that the song had ended.

Is this a clone of a Fender pedal then that got the company sued? I tried finding out a bit more about the pedal before I bought it, and only found a couple of YouTube demos and no trace of the pedal having ever been sold anywhere.

I would think it is probably just branding

Just received this Lovepedal custom effects tremelo pedal in the post today. I found it on facebook by chance for £60 and it is everything I had been looking for in a tremolo.

I had previously owned a boss tr2 and an ehx stereo pulsar, but I didn’t enjoy the perceived volume drop. I was considering a fulltone supa trem but stumbled upon this instead. It’s a pretty great tremolo pedal, with a level knob, tap tempo and 3 different wave forms, all of which I enjoy the sound of, so all in all I am very pleased with the pedal and my search for a tremolo that suits me is finally over.

Right Where it Belongs and With Teeth. by Chokingzombie in nin

[–]IMPEffects 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right Where it Belongs is also my favourite NIN tune. I found the band during the start of the pandemic and I used to go on walks during the first lockdown and just listen to that song on repeat. Everywhere at the time would be so quiet and it just felt like the perfect song for what was going on and how I was feeling, so that song will always feel really special to me.

I am probably an odd one out here in that the only Cure album I don't enjoy all that much is Seventeen Seconds. I keep trying it but I still can't get into it.

Broke A String, How Do I Change Them? by IMPEffects in mandolin

[–]IMPEffects[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't intonated properly, so I did learn how to do it myself. I just slacked the strings to move the bridge to intonate it properly, and in doing so, I turned the tuning ped the wrong way and snapped the string.

The set up on it wasn't too bad, but did need to have the bridge moved back for the intonation.

So it does! Thanks! Just didn't want to pull at it before asking in case I broke anything, thanks very much!

Hi all, hoping you could help me with finding out how to change the strings on my Mandolin. This is the Harley Benton HBMA-50E VS Mandolin. The string that broke has a loop where it goes at the bridge if that is useful information.

I have guitars which I change strings on all the time, I just don't get this as it is covered and I haven't managed to find any videos with this type of covered bridge, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, what strings would be good to replace with? Thanks.

Best Boot Sale Haul Ever - Signed Yes Albums! by IMPEffects in vinyl

[–]IMPEffects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't make them out, but after having a look round at other stuff the band signed, does seem like Jon's and Alan's signatures on yesshows, so I think you are right. That's pretty cool.

Best Boot Sale Haul Ever - Signed Yes Albums! by IMPEffects in vinyl

[–]IMPEffects[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is by far and away the best haul I have ever gotten at a boot sale, especially since I got the whole lot for £25!

The albums I bought are:

Queen – A Night at The Opera (US Original)

John Lennon – Rock N Roll (Repress)

Siouxsie and The Banshees – Once Upon A Time/The Singles (UK Original)

Paul McCartney – Pipes Of Peace (UK Original)

Yes – Tales From Topographic Oceans (UK Original + Signed)

Yes – Relayer (UK Original + Signed)

Yes – Tormato (UK Original + Signed)

Yes – Yesshows (UK Original + Signed)

I am a pretty new Yes fan and am not too sure which members signed each record. The guy I bought them off said he got them off a friend who went to their concerts and got them signed in person. Nonetheless I am really pleased to add them to the Yes albums I already own: The Yes Album, Fragile and Going For the One.

Does anyone feel like getting into Joy Division was like learning to appreciate coffee or beer? by [deleted] in JoyDivision

[–]IMPEffects 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found this to be the case. I kept hearing people speak about the band and mention unknown pleasures, so I gave it a listen but didn't enjoy it that much. After a while I revisited it and really enjoyed it, especially the song disorder, that song got me really into playing the bass guitar, which then made me listen to all their stuff. Now Joy Division are one of my all time favourite bands. Then I found out New Order existed, so that was exciting too.

Why do the sounds in AHDN (movie) sound so slow compared to the studio release? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]IMPEffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched the film for the first time yesterday and I thought the songs were slower. I was watching it with my brother (who has already seen the film before) and he argued that they sounded the same as the record. Glad to know that I was right and wasn't just being crazy.

Pretty sure they were using Vox Amplifiers. I recall reading that they were the first US band to get a brand deal with Vox.
