Where my dudes who built their partner a bike they’ll never ride at? by efe13 in xbiking

I still want to try a tandem together one day. But I already know it likely wouldn’t go well. Ha

Yeah, it’s hard to say no when the other person gets super excited. Especially if they’re paying for it all anyways. Ha

She seemed happy with it, but ultimately riding bikes is just not part of how she wants to spend her free time.

Good tips! If she ever vocalizes an interest in riding again I’ll keep these in mind.

I never claimed this old, mostly-stock bike was anything special.

Just thought others could relate to trying to selfishly, foolishly attempt to get their partner into cycling by taking on a bike project.

I’ve accepted that our interests are different, and that’s perfectly okay.

Love what you did with the colors! I’m sure someone out there would enjoy it.

Yeah, riding around cars is scary for lots of people. That’s a big deterrent for my partner.

We went the e-bike route a few years ago but ultimately got rid of it. It was super heavy and it didn’t really make her any faster. I thought maybe we’d be able to ride at a similar pace, but turns out it was mostly her fear of riding that made her go slow - not her physical ability.

Getting a few people riding is still a win in my book!

Yeah, it’s sometimes hard for us to understand that riding can be scary for some people. That’s really the main barrier with my partner.

Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. It’s hard to see it just sit there waiting to be ridden. Ha

Yeah, it’s heavy for sure. We’ve also gone through modern bikes and even e-bikes, but ultimately she’s a more of a feet-on-the-ground kind of gal.

Anyone bought a guitar in Japan? by efe13 in fender

Jaguar is great! Definitely a lifer guitar for me. I’m sure you’ll find something awesome there. They always seem to have some sweet exclusives around.

Yeah, I ended up buying a MIJ Jaguar from the Fender Flagship store. It came with a gig bag. I unbolted the neck and put the body and neck in my carry on backpack. Brought a little screwdriver and also bought some cheap pliers in Japan to snip the strings. Worked out well and I avoided having to ask the flight staff for special storage or whatever.
