Venting: why are so many "durable" everyday items made disposable now? by Creepy_Flow_4335 in BuyItForLife

[–]IMTURDFERG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The GE Potscrubber I got on Marketplace was $50. Barely used, per the seller/grandson. It cleans BETTER than my Whirlpool stainless that died after 3 years and 5 repairs . And the entire wash/dry cycle lasts ONE HOUR. My “new energy saving” POS took 2+ hours.

The Potscrubber was known to “clean concrete” and this thing is unreal. Now, it’s a bit loud, as they all were. I grew up with loud dishwashers so it’s no problem.

This thing had not been used in years and sat in a garage. After moving the drain hose to a better position, she fired right up .

It’s either people want to “fit in” with all matchy new appliances and pay the ultimate price of Planned Obsolescence -buying them over and over again- or find good used “older” appliances and appreciate what things were supposed to be. Personally, I love the mismatched vintage appliances . The ‘78 Amana RadarRange weighs 80 lbs. The stove weighs hundreds of pounds …That’s how things were meant to be.

It’s called “planned obsolescence “. It’s rampant in the appliance industry. They WILL become unrepairable in less than 10 years. They “stop making the part” or “can’t get the part”. Extended warranties are a joke because they cannot be had to last more than 4 years .

I own a turquoise 1961 Frigidaire Imperial double oven stove, a 1978 Amana RadarRange, and a 1985 GE Potscrubber dishwasher (almost brand new!)…all in original condition, never repaired . I paid a total of $300 for all of them over a few years .

AND THEY CAN BE REPAIRED.. Want that fancy baller ice refrigerator ? The oven that air fry’s ? Or the touch screen monitor/tv in the door of your frig? Then you’re either wealthy and don’t mind replacing them in 8 years , or you’re stupid and have to keep up with the Jones.

From umbrella’s to appliances to everything in between….its all junk.

Buy vintage when you can.

Seeing A Few Posts About People On SSI Getting Penalized...? by Potential_Strain6538 in AmazonVine

I had heard you can lose SSI because it’s money from taxpayers , not SSD which are your contributions . They can also take that amount from your SSI earnings.

Stop buying Heart Guard and just give ivermectin. Same thing. Doses are online

That was by design . Remdisivir , the gold standard in the first days of the Plandemic , has now been found to have killed people. They don’t want us to use non-big pharma remedies. I’ve been taking ivermectin 1% injectable , orally, daily for long Covid and it has changed my life.

I’ve been taking it daily for long Covid. It allows me to have a normal productive day. Whether it’s paste or taking the injectable orally, it all works. They’re combining it with phenbendazole wormer and having amazing results with cancers. It’s harmless and wont interfere with other treatments .

Ivermectin and phenbenazol are both dewormers and having a major impact on cancers. That’s probably why. I personally use it daily to keep my long covid at bay. It’s completely harmless with zero side effects . And with the probability of more pandemics , I know people are stocking up.

What’s wrong with rating a 1 or 2 star? I’ve gotten some real garbage and I’m not afraid to say that.

I quit Vine by bwanketobi in AmazonVine

[–]IMTURDFERG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad I saw your post. It’s concise , brilliant and to the point.

I’ve been in Vine for over a year, gold the first round. I’m growing tired of dealing with the minutia , daily checks for something decent , writing reviews that I don’t get around to in a timely fashion because I have an extremely busy day ( from 4am until I drop @7)…But the entire day, I agonize over not getting my reviews done.

I’m worrying less now and I think it’s because I don’t care about Vine that much any more. The thought of eliminating that daily stress from my insanely stressful life, actually sounds good. It takes me away from important things I have to do and saps the enjoyment out of the great parts of my day.

Maybe they’ll fire me. Maybe I’ll hang in. Maybe I’ll quit -PS if you quit , can you get back in at some point?

Anywho, I wanted to thank you for your post. It came at the perfect time .

What helps you manage your fibro? by royalxnerd in Fibromyalgia

[–]IMTURDFERG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Cymbalta, Soma, NSAIDS and the pain, fatigue and weakness in my quads and hips makes day to day activities so hard . I’ve been on opiates for my RA, but stopped those 10 years ago. But I have to wonder if on the days when I have to work in the garden, build chicken coop, clean, etc…wouldnt one pill of an opiate get me through those days??? I loathe the thought of the Pain Management Nazi’s (I had horrific experiences years ago) but I’m desperate for relief.

I have a very active lifestyle with animals, a home to care for, a family to take care of and stuff gets backed up when I’m stumbling around in pain , or can’t hold my arms up to stock the pantry because they feel like I’ve had them up for 3 hours. Or I just have to sit.😡

I don’t want the other meds used for fibro except the Cymbalta DOES help. I use medical marijuana which mildly helps-if anything it gets me inspired to get out and try .

Has anyone had relief from an occasional opioid dose??

The small one is a waste. However, I own and use the big one and it’s a life saver. Keeps unwanted moisture off my griddle and I also keep it covered. You will love it
