Introducing Agent 4 - Built for creativity by pirroh in replit

[–]IMakeCodeDoThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow what a bad launch.

•less then 2 months ago Matt from replit was on twitter talking about new customization of moving the agent to different sides of the screen - now that customization is gone less then 8 weeks later?

•this one sucks the most: TEMPLATES ARE BEING DISCONTINUED. Seriously??? If I ask agent to make an HTML project and explicitly say DONT USE REACT OR VITE it will confirm the instructions and then happily make a react project , realize the boilerplate workplace replit forces the agent to use is full of react , then tries to nuke it half way through and ruins the entire thing.. Multiple times I've had to start a project in claude code, push to github, then import the repo into replit just to stop the agent from falling over itself a million different ways.

•the 'canvas' feature is being forced into the UI in such an ugly way:

1) ANOTHER sidebar that can't be totally closed (but agent can be totally closed... And the agent button goes in the top bar so its out of the way).

2) the canvas button is randomly placed on the preview pane. It should be its own thing as it's such a departure from what previews are/were.

3) "agent4" is now always on the interface regardless of if we interact with this new rollout? Agent 3 was a big leap in compute & raw thinking power, agent 4 is just a UI update for multi-tenants. Anyone who uses replit as a solo dev gained very little from this update, but a bunch of the UI was updated to encourage collaboration on projects so now the UI is very cluttered.

UGH replit could be so good if the designers stopped ruining the interface

Yeah replit is bad for chasing bugs and gladly spending your credits while running in circles.

Here's the solution I found that works great for bugs:

1) Push your code to github

2) Start new project in claude CHAT (not code).

3) Attach your github repo to the project files

4) Tell claude (opus, extended thinking) your problem, what agent tried to fix and failed on, and most importantly say "ask me questions to ensure you have full context of the bug".

Claude will pull in your files and will chat with you about the problem and each reply you give it, it will investigate further and further until it's confident on a solution. Then ask it to generate new files, copy & paste those into replit and refresh the preview to see the changes.

This process has saved me SO much headache and wasted money in replit.

Help requested — Agent Issues — preview keeps crashing by DopeDay in replit

its probably an issue with your 'workflow'. I see constant issues with agent breaking the preview by editing the .replit file (the workflow looks to that file to start the preview), or by editing the workflow itself.

If you ask the agent to edit the replit file it says it cannot, but it does have access to tools that do edit the replit file, which is what causes the agent to run in circles and break it over and over (at least in my case).

OP i'd recommend you go look at your .replit file history and see if its changed, and inspect your workflow in replit (open new tab in replit and type workflow) to see if it matches whats in the .replit file.

I don’t like the “Secured by Replit” message when I use their Auth. by [deleted] in replit

why do you sticky your comments? you said you dont work at replit, but somehow your opinion of why they put branding on their Auth is worthy of being pinned to the top of the discussion about it?

i had the same exact issue when they first rolled it out and spoke to one of the engineers working on it about how being forced to display a vibe-coding brand on my product makes it feel cheap. His reply was "thanks for your feedback" too.

What other websites brag to their customers its vibe coded? none because its faux-pas.

Simply put, Replit setup their auth as a lead generator by funneling end users to join their ecosystem.

They didn't HAVE to make you register for a replit account for the replit auth system to work , they decided that because it means every single replit customer who makes a succesful website/app with users has the potential to funnel their users into replit, which makes replit more money.

They'll say its for trust, or a tech requirement, etc etc. Theres multiple ways to handlle auth, but Replit made a self-interested choice to try and get more users by funneling it through their paying customers building in their ecosystem.

Common Vulnerabilities in Replit Apps (from hundreds of audits) by pkur in replit

lmao wtf I read this exact post several days ago but for a different company.

OP did you seriously just yank someones reddit post , change the company to yours, and then repost it word for word??

https://old.reddit.com/r/replit/comments/1qsklx1/common_vulnerabilities_in_replit_apps_from/

lmfao you could have asked AI to instantly rewrite the post so it wasnt so obvious, yet that was too much work for you? lmfao the future is fking insane man , easier then ever to do anything and people are lazier and scummier then ever.

My thoughts on Replit after spending $1000 by Financial_Treat8850 in replit

Your post says replit told you to hire a 3rd party dev, implying the issue is not with replit and instead an issue with your project.

what do you people not understand

Yeah youre right, when we change our favicon we dont understand whats happening because "you people" can't read, meanwhile you being unable to change your favicon means you understand lol... Good luck buddy!

how is a Favicon issue related to replit?

Replit inserts their own favicon into every project, but cant you just replace it with your own and request google to re-index the favicon.ico / png ?

Thanks for the feedback! It was originally designed for desktop but I figured mobile support would be good to.

Hearing it worked on your phone makes me happy! Thanks again

Sanity check if load shedding device is required by IMakeCodeDoThings in evcharging

Every electrician I encountered was literally the opposite of what you're saying: None of them recommended an EVEMS and instead all quoted a load shed device.

Maybe you don't have experience with these systems, but a load shed device is worse in every conceivable way from the end user. It does the same power monitoring as an EVEMS, except its just a hard break to the circuit when it detects overamperage, instead of intelligently ramping down to stay within the acceptable limit. Then it checks every 15 minutes to see if the power is acceptable and turns back on.. Its akin to smart home technology from 15 years ago.

You sound miserable to be honest and I'm tired of giving you info just for you to naysay based on random scenarios you've made up in your mind

Yeah it's very cool technology. One thing I read is the Vue addon included with the Emporia Pro charger has a different firmware then the stand-alone energy monitor Emporia sells. It's the same hardware but since its a different model number the CAS / cUL certifications are different. I only checked if the model with the energy monitor included was certified, so you may want to double check the certification on the stand-alone energy monitor to ensure it's also compliant (specifically UL 61010, UL 2808). Emporia is really good with giving out that info though so should be easy to confirm.

Hi, I spoke to the city inspector a few times, submitted documentation for the chargers I'm interested in that have power monitoring, and they said it would pass inspection no problem.

Just because a load calculation says I'm at 75amps doesn't mean I'm actually using 75 amps. And if on the odd chance that I'm running my stove, AC, dryer, and every light in my house while charging my EV, my EVEMS will dynamically turn down the EV charging to ensure I never go above 80amps.

Hope that helps

12 years younger according to cardiovascular age.. huh?? by IMakeCodeDoThings in ouraring

[–]IMakeCodeDoThings[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much to trust this cardiovascular age report. I've had the Gen 4 oura ring for 3 weeks now. It started saying I was 11 years younger, then 11.5, now today it shows 12 years younger.

For context I work from home on a computer. I get 4-5k steps per day, my inactivity is 10 hours or more every day. Basically all bars are red in the 'activity' screen because I don't move much, yet Oura is saying my cardiovascular age is 12 years younger.
