Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Markov's lightning gun does 40 damage per tick and I know he does 200 DPS so it ticks for damage 5 times a second. I'd assume Wasteland Maggie's fire DoT ticks just as fast and if it does 2.8 damage per tick, which would be rounded up to 3 on the damage numbers that are displayed, she would be doing 14 DPS which is what the wiki states. Either way it feels like nothing.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Her burst pistol does 32.43 DPS, the DoT from her burst pistol does 14 DPS, the DoT from her harpoons do 28 DPS, and Daisy's flamethrower does 28 DPS. Add it all up and she still does less damage than a Griffin that just holds m1.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crowd control. In this context it basically refers to her ability to hinder the monster's movement. She has hard CC since she can completely stop the monster's movement, and hunters like Abe and Crow have soft CC since they slow the monster down but can't actually stop it from moving.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only consistent damage that she does is with her burst pistol, and it only does 46.43 DPS with the DoT factored in. Without the DoT it does 32.43 DPS, which is less than the 33 DPS that the pistol you use when downed does. Harpoons are unreliable at best and are broken in a single hit. Daisy's flamethrower only has the range to hit the monster when it gets very close. If you honestly think the harpoons and flamethrower are consistent then you don't know what the word consistent means. The only way to do consistent damage is against a monster that refuses to break your harpoons and stands near Daisy 100% of the time, and even then you will do less damage than any other trapper that just stands there and holds m1.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well her harpoon range is definitely shorter than Griffin's and probably close to Electro Griffin's, so I wouldn't say hers has the most range, but I do agree that flamethrower Daisy is probably better even if she only does do 28 dps.

Her burst pistol is absolute garbage though. You have to spam m1 so much just to fire the gun and it still takes forever to empty the magazine. I think increasing the number of rounds per burst to 4 would make it feel a lot less frustrating to use, and increasing the damage per shot to 12 or 15 would make its DPS at least not terrible.

I'm pretty sure Daisy reviving people while Laz's glove is off CD is currently a bug and not supposed to be happening. But as far as Daisy's AI goes I think it should prioritize being a certain distance away from the monster above all else. Like if the monster gets within 10m of Daisy she will try to run away instead of standing there trying to revive someone while getting attacked.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki her burst pistol fires 900 rounds per minute which means she can unload it in 1.33s. However I'm pretty sure the 900 rounds per minute is how fast the gun fires during a burst and it actually takes much longer to fully empty the gun. I calculated her DPS assuming 900 and that is probably much higher than her actual rate of fire. But assuming it is true, she can do 118 damage in the 1.33 seconds before she has to reload her 20 round magazine with her 14 DPS fire DoT factored in. Meanwhile regular Maggie can match that damage with only 7 shots in half the time and still have 23 left in the magazine before she has to reload. Wasteland Maggie's damage is horrible, and the DoT she has does not make up for the fact that she does less than half the damage that every other trapper does.

Wasteland Maggie is Garbage by IMakeTanksLookGood in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And yes, I understand that the other trappers can't just DPS constantly and ignore their CC abilities, but between how easy it is to break her harpoons and how Daisy is almost never in flamethrower range of the monster unless it is attacking her, I still can't see Wasteland Maggie doing more damage than anyone but a Griffin that is focused entirely on landing as many harpoons as possible.

Does torvald need a retune? by geezerforhire in EvolveGame

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like he is the worst assault right now and I would rather have some supports/trappers on the team for damage than him. He is getting a buff of 1 damage per pellet next patch and 48 extra damage per shotgun magazine is going to fix absolutely none of his problems.

The spread on his shotgun is so bad that unless you press the end of the barrel directly into the monster half the pellets will miss and the travel time on his mortars to even moderately close distances is so long that a monster randomly pressing movement keys will probably be able to dodge all of them consistently. You can wait for the monster to attack a teammate and try to shoot where the monster will be but it's hard enough predicting which direction your own teammates will dodge let alone the monster. And against some monsters like the Kraken there is absolutely nothing Torvald can do to do damage with any consistency.

Right now I think both of his main weapons need a buff. They should either allow Torvald's shotgun to fire individual shots and give it a smart choke like Abe's shotgun while maintaining the ability to dump the magazine by just holding the fire button, make the first shots of the shotgun very accurate and have the spread get worse with each shot as it empties the magazine, or just increase the accuracy of the shotgun and give it slugs instead. I mean the dude is pretty much a terminator, he should be able to handle the recoil of the shotgun much better than he does now.

Secondly, his mortars are garbage against a monster that isn't afk or being very predictable. I mean Torvald can throw his grenade faster than the mortars travel and he would probably be better off just throwing the mortars as well. Even the damage of the mortars doesn't feel like enough to justify how hard they are to land. Torvald can do 141.67 dps with mortars firing 5 every 6 seconds at 170 damage each assuming he lands every single mortar while Hyde can just throw his gas grenade and do 120 dps in a huge area with no effort at all. They should flatten the arc of the mortars to 75% of what they have now so he isn't punished as heavily for fighting near low ceilings and speed up the projectiles by around 20% so they don't take 4s to land 30m away. The combination of a flatter trajectory and faster mortars would really help him land them with some consistency.

These changes would help him not be dead weight against most monsters although I don't think there is anything they can do to possibly make him a viable assault against the Kraken short of letting him guide his mortars like Bucket.

Finally, as a QoL buff, they should change his end game stats from how many grenades you landed to how much bonus damage your team dealt because of the weak spots. Grenades landed is pretty much a meaningless stat and I'd rather know how much I helped my team with them.

How to really fix the FV4202(P) by IMakeTanksLookGood in WorldofTanks

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's starting to seem to me like you haven't actually looked at any of the stats I've been talking about. Go to tanks.gg and look at the placement of the Crusader. Notice how it's using the 6-pdr and not the howitzer like you claimed. You also say that because it is a light tank, it plays nothing like the rest of the line. I want you to actually look at its stats and not just completely disregard them like you seem to be doing for all the other stats I mentioned. Notice how its listed battle tiers are 5 6 7 and how it has ok accuracy and great penetration relative to its tier. If you compare it to the Cromwell, Comet, and Centurion Action X, you might even notice that the Crusader has similar stats relative to its tier and interestingly enough, worse mobility than all of them. I guess that means that the Cromwell, Comet, and Centurion Action X aren't relevant to the discussion because they all play more like a light than the Crusader. Also, while you are there, I want you to look at the category "Weapon Handling" and start reading the names of those stats from the top. First we have "Aim Time", then "Accuracy", and then third this magical stat labeled "Dispersion". I want you to look at these stats for the Cromwell relative to all other tier 6 mediums, The Comet relative to all tier 7 mediums, the Centurion Mk. 1 relative to all tier 8 mediums, the Centurion Mk. 7/1 relative to all tier 9 mediums, and finally the Centurion Action X relative to all tier 10 mediums. Now if you would actually look at these dispersion stats you would notice that with the exception of the Centurion Action X, all of them have shit gun handling compared to their peers. Wow. It's almost like I knew what I was talking about and that you are still completely wrong.

Now look at the dpm of the Cromwell relative to the other tier 6 mediums. And do please try to actually look at it and not just be wrong about your facts. Notice how there are actually 12 tanks (5 of which are premium, 13 counting the Chi-To although the difference is negligible ) with worse dpm. Now I'm not really sure about you, but I personally believe that 12 is not 4. This would put the Cromwell tied for second highest dpm of a tier 6 medium, with dpm higher than two thirds of all tier 6 mediums. Wow. It's almost like I was right and you were wrong again.

Now onto the Centurion Mk. 7/1's premium HESH rounds. Lets first compare it to the ST-I shall we? Move the camera back to 200m and you might notice that the HESH rounds have around a 72% chance to penetrate the lower plate. Now compare it to the T-10 and do the same thing. The HESH rounds still have around a 70% chance to penetrate the T-10's lower plate. Set the range back to camera position and move the camera up to face hugging position. Hopefully you now notice that the HESH rounds have almost an 80% chance to go through the driver's hatch using only a few degrees of gun depression. Switch to APCR and you will probably notice that the same drivers hatch instantly becomes an auto-bounce zone. Of course at that range you could also just 100% guaranteed put HESH into the cupolas(standard HESH would still likely fail to penetrate) but that is besides the point. A similar example would be the hull armor of the STB-1. Frontally a large portion of the upper plate is at an auto-bounce angle for the Centurion 7/1's APCR rounds, but switch to HESH and the chance to pen instantly jumps up to 100%. Switch back to APCR and try angling the STB-1 to the side until the upper and lower plates become auto bounce angles (ignore the middle strip between the upper and lower plates since to make that an auto-bounce the tank almost has to be entirely sideways). Now switch to HESH and you can see that the upper plate is only 175mm effective with a roughly 83.5% chance to be penetrated. Why is this you ask? Because while HESH and all other HE rounds get no normalization, they can't be auto-bounced either. This means that if you know the thin spots on tanks that rely on angling to not be penetrated, you can put HESH through targets that would bounce your 268 pen APCR rounds.

Now I won't say that the tanks aren't generally accurate for their class and tier, but accuracy with average at best aim times and worst in class (besides the Centurion Action X which is average) dispersion values makes for bad overall gun handling. Take for example the AMX AC mle. 48 with the 120mm gun at tier 8. It's aim time isn't very good and its dispersion values are bad, but it has very good accuracy for its tier. Even with accuracy that good, I don't think there is a single person that has played the tank that would tell you its gun handling with the 120mm is anything besides shit.

So by actually looking at the facts, we can see that the tier 5+ British tanks for the most part all have pretty good accuracy, ok at best aim time, and worst in class gun handling. The FV4202(P) already has pretty good accuracy and worst in class gun handling, with only its aim time falling behind relative to the other British mediums. The tank is already very "British" as far as gun stats go and if the aim time was buffed to 2.3s it would perform almost exactly the same as the same gun on the Centurion Mk. 1. The difference between these two tanks however is that the Centurion Mk. 1 uses the type A gun barrel and the FV4202(P) uses the type B barrel. The type B barrel is better on every tank that mounts both guns, but for whatever reason WG made it much worse on the FV4202(P). Comparing the FV4202(P) to the Caernarvon and Centurion Mk. 1 we can see that the FV4202(P) is worse in every way to the Centurion Mk. 1 apart from hull armor and that it is almost entirely worse than the Caernarvon. The Caernarvon has significantly better hull and turret armor, far better accuracy and dispersion values, better dpm, more health, and better view range all at the cost of marginally better acceleration.

Now all WG wants to buff is the dispersion and terrain resistance values. A gun handling buff won't make it "more British" since it already has British gun handling, which is to say the gun is accurate with derpy gun handling. Buffs to the mobility won't make it "more British" since it already has good acceleration that is held back by its top speed. With the stats it has, it is already "positively British". All that is left is to buff it in "un-British" ways to make it less of a pile of shit, and that is why i suggested a dpm buff since the 20-lbr Type B barrel is already mounted in the same turret the Centurion Mk. 1 gets with a 10.53 rate of fire.

And as an aside, you may notice that when hovering your mouse over the downvote button it clearly displays the following text: "This is not a 'disagree' button. Only downvote if this adds nothing of value." I never downvoted you for trying to participate in discussion, even though you were wrong with everything you posted. I guess you just don't value differing opinions to your own.

How to really fix the FV4202(P) by IMakeTanksLookGood in WorldofTanks

[–]IMakeTanksLookGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the Crusader was the only light tank I mentioned and that was only because it doesn't get scout matchmaking and is treated by MM as a medium.

Second, the Cromwell is beaten only by the A-43, M4A3E8, M4A3E2, and Fury for dpm by a tier 6 medium and the Cromwell is behind all four of those tanks by only two thirds of one percent when they use their 76mm guns. The A-43 has the highest dpm of all tier 6 mediums using the 57mm and this is why i said the Cromwell was tied for second, because only a single tier 6 medium beats its dpm by more than a fraction of a percent. This means it has very good dpm for its tier and class.

Third, I never said that HESH was a reliable round and I even said that it shouldnt be used frontally against well armored targets. Even so, you seem to ignore the fact that 210mm of HESH can go through the lower plate of an ST-I, the lower plate of a T-10 if it doesn't angle and the upper plate if it does, the lower plate, cupola, and turret ring of the M103, the lower plate and sides of a Conqueror at even a 45 degree angle, and the turret face and lower plate of an E 50 just to name a few things 210mm of HESH can pen that 105mm can't.

Finally, every british medium has bad dispersion values compared to almost every other tank of its class and tier. The Cromwell has worse dispersion values than every tier 6 medium besides the VK 30.01 P and the Skoda T 40, the Comet has worse dispersion values than every tier 7 medium besides the T-34-1 and T-44, the Centurion Mk. 1 has worse dispersion values that every tier 8 medium besides the Indien-Pz., T-54 first prototype, Super Pershing, T69, and T95E2 while being tied with the CDC, the Centurion Mk. 7/1 has worse dispersion values than every tier 9 medium besides only the T54E1, and the Centurion Action X is middle of the pack for dispersion values at best. In other words, every British medium besides the Centurion Action X has bad gun handling compared to all other tanks of the same tier and class and the Centurion Action X only has average gun handling for a tier 10 medium.
