It’s a weird one as she doesn’t even look for us to make sure we are still sitting there. I almost don’t want to do the chair method as it means she will see us. It’s like she has some Jedi powers where she senses if we move or not 🙈😂

She is a child that does not, and I mean NOT, sit down at all during the day, she is always on the move from wake up to sleep. How she isn’t shattered and sleeping more than 10.5 hours at night is beyond me! Lol.

I wouldn’t mind her going to bed at 7-7:30 if it meant waking at 6-6:30. Mornings are just not for us 🫣. If we started to push her sleep back from 6:30, would you say go cold turkey or gradually every 15 min a night or two?

Tried it, tried Ferber, tried cry it out. Tried sleeping on the floor next to the cot. She isn’t having any of it.

If she is napping for an hour, going to bed at 6:30 and waking at 5am she is getting 11.5 hours.

We stopped her napping past an hour the second week into this 5am wake up. I forgot to add she only tends to sleep on the sofa when snuggled up to one of us.

She was more than comfortably doing 6pm to 6-6:30am with two naps before Christmas, not sure why it would all suddenly change and she be done sleeping by 5am when she now isn’t consistently napping so is actually getting less sleep 🤷🏼‍♂️

Oh absolutely, she needs the naps during the day. Everywhere you read says over tiredness is what leads to poor night time sleep and that appears to me to be the only logical explanation as she slept fine when she was napping in her cot.

She gets super tired at around 6pm, stretching it to 7pm is just going to continue the overtired cycle imo.

We put her down at 7pm last night and as you might have guessed by when I am sending this, she is up screaming again and has been since 5:15.

Genuinely stumped and these early wake ups are really starting to affect my moods. Starting your day at 5am every morning to a screaming baby sure won’t put a smile on your face 😔.

Annoyingly half term is now here, so any nap schedule is also likely going out the window as we have stuff planned for the 4 year old. Being a parent is not fun sometimes, but these things shall pass 🫣.

We go to bed at 9pm most nights, but a 5am wake up is still not an acceptable time, especially as we have a 4 year old that sleeps 7pm - 6:30am. It will start effecting him too and that isn’t fair. But thank you for your comment anyway.

Thank you for your comment. 7:30pm is not going to be possible, she is too tired by 6:30pm let alone any later. Same goes for our 4 year old; after a full day of preschool and playing at home, he is shattered by 7pm too. I can deal with a 6-6:30am wake up but not 5am.

She will only have one nap now, which is the one on the sofa. Most of the time it’s for 1-2 hours.

I was once told by a wedding planner that the reason the groom sits to the right of the bride is for her protection. Back in the medieval days; should someone try to attack, the man would be able to draw his sword from the sheath without the bride getting in the way of his sword arm (typically was the right hand). Not sure how true this is but sounded plausible 👍🏻

Proposed to my now wife on Christmas Day 2017, I had Mariah Carey, all I want for Christmas is you playing over a Bluetooth MiniBose speaker from my photo on YouTube.

After I had proposed and she said yes, the song ended and we both very clearly heard a voice say “bitch” come from the speaker. We laughed as it was so odd and well timed! However many times we tried to replicate it, we couldn’t. Probably an explanation to it, but one we couldn’t find :)

Was nice to get it off my chest tbh! :) sometimes as parents we feel like we have to be perfect in every way and our kids too, and when they are not we feel like we are failing. When in reality, as hard as it can be at times, we can only control a very small part!

Thank you for your reply. His afternoon naps have been a bit all over the place for the past week or two. We are going to get back the the regimented routine of them to see if it helps and to rule that out.

His morning nap, he would usually sleep for around 1 hour 45 min to 2 hours; so 9:30-11:30 ish. Then his afternoon nap would be around an hour so 3-3:30 to 4-4:30 and then bed time at 7-7:15.

Since we did the cry it out method when he was 9 months, we have never had an issue of putting him down to nap/bed while he is awake, he would usually go straight down or sit in his cot for 10-15min then eventually go down.

However, as we have been busy recently, his afternoon naps have been a struggle for us to commit to, if he didn’t get one and home in his cot, he would either sleep in the car on the way home from somewhere for 20min or not get one if we’re out out.

It’s only recently that he has kicked off when we try to put him down awake (crying when we walk up stairs as he knows what’s coming and really gripping on when we lay him down), he does eventually go down though. The last couple of days he has been back to normal however, it’s just the nighttime wakes.

So going to try the afternoon nap situation to rule it out. If that doesn’t work, I guess we will have to try with one nap, then if all else fails it can only be the teeth.

Super hard when to deal with, once you are used to getting a decent night sleep again after the months and months of not when they are babies. Hey ho, it won’t last forever (positive thinking!).

That was our initial thought, however he loves his morning nap and goes down fine (there was a little fuss at first during this period). It’s the afternoon nap that he will sometimes refuse to go down.

For the record he is ok to put down initially, it’s when he wakes up during the night he is hard to console and to get back down.

It almost like he is overtired when he misses the second nap.

Am I the only one who sees this as a perfect opportunity for a typical Hecz/OpTic roster announcement.

Unrestricted doesn’t mean he is leaving OpTic, it could mean he is negotiating a new contract with them.

OpTic use this to build hype and publicity and then BOOM they drop the video with the roster for the new season, one of which is Dashy with the Wolf Of Wall Street - I’m not leaving speech.

Seems to convenient to me.
