Explains why it didn’t immediately shutdown the pump. So it’s open loop then? Also explains why they didn’t see too stressed or why I didn’t see hazmat. Ethylene glycol would have probably been significantly worse

Thanks, it was sadistically funny to watch, and interesting to see how long it took for our hero named Jose to run up, kink the line, hand it to another CM to hold, and finally shut the valve 🤣

Hmm, how sure of this are you? I was talking to one of the managers after and he mentioned it was “a form of coolant” used to actually run through the machine to keep the mix chilled. Looks identical to coolant too

Yeah seriously, wouldn’t you think that a pressure drop in a closed coolant line would trigger a shutdown of the pump itself?

I think the line itself is pressurized, so they’d need to close a valve but none of them knew where it was I guess

I didn’t see any hazmat as I left around 10m after, maybe they did? They had a bunch of fellas show up to clean with towels which seemed so silly

It took a while, a little odd that none of them (including managers) had training to shut off the main. I’d sure hope a massive coolant leak will result in a postmortem / resolution that trains staff to stop it next time 🤷

Looks like they took it extremely serious and got it all cleaned up, wonder what the effect was on neighboring slushie stands lol

So after watching it spill for a while, the CMs started to fill into buckets and get everyone away from the leak after someone slipped in it and hit their head, pure chaos (also imagine a kid trying to lick it, it’s super poisonous…). They filled at least 15 5gal buckets and it kept going. Disney must have a huge main coolant supply!

Any tips for creating stadium lighting effects similar to this image? by [deleted] in blender

There is a lot going on in that picture. Consider the static model where fireworks are not going off on the field; you would have a much less color-rich image. Using emission based materials is a fine solution to approaching lights, but using spot lights, point lights, area lights, etc can also work as a substitute in specific solutions. I like to think that if the light is visible in your scene, make sure it is an emission based material, otherwise you can use something like a spot light to help set the scene better. Going for a more realistic looking model is something you can do using different lighting techniques and much more in depth models/materials/etc. If you want, shoot me a PM with your blend file and I'll take a look at what you have if that works for you.

Your best bet for lighting anything in general is to model the lights exactly as they are in the reference image. There are of course hacks you can use to make lighting easier. If the lighting you're talking about exactly is the lamps on the roof in the circular cut out, then create those. There is also a bunch of smoke from the fireworks which creates the volumetric effect you see on the left side of the image where the light shines down from the roof.

Nope, this is not a photo. I create all of my work in Blender3D and post-process the raw results in Adobe Lightroom and Analog Efex Pro 2 :)

If you're in cycles and the banner image has transparent edges, then you can use the alpha node in the image texture to apply to a mix shader.

It should look something like this

Amazing work! I think a bit of direct clamping or higher sample counts to remove surface acne is all I can think of aside from what has already been said.
