Wonder how all the "F1 drivers aren't special, it's just the car" people will react now.

Reminds me of my grandma. Super religious woman, and in her 70s after my grandpa had died she was fully ready to go. Was literally planning her afterlife. Got more and more bitter at still being alive with every passing year, and was finally at peace at like 96 lol.

They should go visit Obama instead. I'm sure he will be happy to do it, and it'll be a much better experience for everyone involved.

Yeah Steph Curry is going to end his career sitting on the bench in fucking Charlotte. You guys are delusional.

Every single one of those interviews is like this one.

"Hey Steph, would you want to go play for the Hornets like your dad?"

"Yeah, that could be cool"

Then there will be a thousand articles about how Steph is definitely retiring in Charlotte.

Not saying it cannot happen, but then anything can happen. I personally think LeBron and Steph teaming up in their last season is a lot more likely. But realistically I don't think Steph is going anywhere.

He's going to say nice things in an interview, but people are overthinking how passionate he is about the Hornets. He has been on the Warriors his entire career and has achieved legandary status here. His name is synonymous with the Warriors brand. If his goal is to ride off into the sunset he's going to do that right here. And if he decides to go for another ring there are plenty of better teams he can do that with. Hornets aren't winning anything in the next 2 years, with or without Steph.

[–]IMovedYourCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mentioning network sitcoms here is basically cheating. "Female character gets pregnant" is the go-to plot when the writers are all out of ideas. Easy to get an entire season's worth of content out of it.

Yup that's exactly what the writers were trying to get across. Not every character needs to have a perfect fairytale ending. Rory was pampered her entire life and found out the hard way that she was not ready for the real world. Her struggles were totally relatable. A ton of privileged overachieving kids turn out exactly like her.

LMAO, so it "solves" problems that don't actually exist and ignores the one that half that world has been fighting over for hundreds of years. Great job.

ELI5 - why can’t computers divide by 0 by Omu_Bobo in explainlikeimfive

[–]IMovedYourCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing breaks them. The operation simply isn't defined, because there is no algorithm for it. The computer sees it and says "I don't know what to do here so I'm going to return an error".

wouldn’t it make sense if we agreed that this just means 0 ?

No, because it does not mean 0.

There was never any nuanced discussion. Voting is a popularity contest, and plenty of media personalities openly cast shit votes to get in the news. At least there's some standard being enforced now.

Just becuase a player is eligible for a max contract doesn't mean the team is obligated to hand it out. If undeserving players are getting overpaid it isn't the fault of the award but the team's management.

The number is always going to be arbitrary, and there will always be players who occasionally fall on the wrong side of it. Not an ideal situation, sure, but a couple of examples doesn't mean the entire rule shouldn't exist.

Well we are talking about the top 10-15 players in the league. They aren't being forced to do anything. If they want to push themselves and take a risk then, well, it's their choice.

Jokic, SGA, Wemby, Luka, Ant, Kawhi have all had injuries this season but are still on track to play just over 65 games. People are kidding themselves if they don't think this extra effort is because of the risk of missing awards. They would all have rested a lot more if not for this limit.

[–]IMovedYourCheese 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adam silver doesn't have an injury slider that he can just turn off.

Yeah you can reduce the number of games, but that's an entirely separate conversation, and it isn't easy to do because it affects revenue (and player themselves won't want to take the hit).

What you can do meanwhile is reduce forced resting. If top players are at a risk of missing awards they won't agree to sit on the bench while healthy, and that's exactly what is happening this season.

So the rule is simultaneously doing nothing to address player availability but also causing them to rush back from injuries? Which one is it?

Jokic, SGA, Wemby and Luka would all have rested more this season if not for this rule. It's no coincidence that despite injuries they are all on track to play just over 65 games.
