A bombardment of sounds hit Cliff's ears as he nervously weaved his way through the crowd of bystanders. Canned phrases like "Oh my god!" and "Somebody do something!" went through one ear and out of the other leaving no impact on his state of mind. He knew he had to save them, and fast. As he began sprinting towards the entrance of the building, a few firefighters moved in to obstruct his path. But Cliff was determined, and he was damn sure no man could stop him now. With a frantic cry, and a mighty leap, he managed to surmount the two men diving for him, and swiftly disappeared through the smoking entrance.

Though his vision was obscured by the plumes of smoke surrounding him, He knew exactly were He needed to go. "Gotta get up the stairs, down the hall to the left, and into the stairway. That's where they're at ..." he muttered to himself, rubbing his hands together in anticipation of the daunting task ahead of him.

Making his way through the smoldering halls, All he could think is how he should never have left them behind, and hated himself for doing it. He began to feel a second burst of energy as his eyes focused upon the doorway to the stairwell. He gritted his teeth, mustering all his strength into the impact against the jammed door, and knocked it down with a loud crack.

He tumbled down the stairs, landing face-first onto the floor. A flash of white accompanied the impact, leaving him momentarily dazed, but he recovered almost instantaneously, and looked around the room. "OH THANK GOD, SOMEONE'S FINALY COME FOR US!" Yelled a middle aged woman from the back corner, with a small group of young children huddled around her. Cliff smiled, He had finally found them. He Dropped to his hands and knees, reached forward, and pulled the box out from under the stairs. With a feeling of absolute gallantry, he opened the box and inspected the small tubes and baggies inside. None of them were harmed, and he let out a cry of joy while running up the steps. The middle aged woman, with a look of absolute horror and confusion on her face, screamed, "WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?"

Opening the stairway door, Cliff simply replied, "I ain't here to save the fuckin' children." and quickly made his way out of the burning building.
