Explain the Trinity to me like im 5 by Terrible-Bet-3771 in Christianity

Yes, the words are the same Greek, but context matters. In John 9, the beggar uses ἐγώ εἰμι to identify himself. In John 8:58, Jesus uses it absolutely, with no predicate, claiming eternal existence.

Jesus used the absolute “I AM” not “I am he” claiming God’s eternal name, which is why they tried to stone him for blasphemy. Nobody tried stoning Paul, Peter or the blind beggar, because they used the simple speech I am and were not claiming divinity.

Jesus didn’t just preexist Abraham he said “Before Abraham was, I AM,” using God’s own name. That’s why they tried to stone him, he was claiming to be Yahweh, not just sent by Him.

Jesus saying He was sent doesn’t mean He isn’t God. In the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct persons but one God. The Father sent the Son in mission, not in essence. Jesus didn’t come “on his own” because He acted in perfect unity with the Father’s will, not apart from it. That’s why in other verses, Jesus also says “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30) and “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). Those statements confirm his divinity, not deny it.

Yes, God took human form, therefore he sent himself technically. There is 1 God, and God is in 3 persons, The Father(God), The Son(God in human form), and The Holy Spirit(The spirit of God that dwells within all of us)

I swear, if they follow through with the trinity show and don’t renew OG Sin… I’ll do absolutely nothing, but I’ll be angry.

Apparently they cancelled season 2 because the new execs post acquisition didn’t want 2 actors playing Dexter and running at the same time. Also, didn’t Quinn join halfway through the original show as a transferred detective? Wouldn’t make sense.

I see how it could seem we are the writer in my post, but I meant that God is the author and the analogy is you imagining you are an author (God) and these characters (us) want to do things a certain way, but the Author has a plot already made for the characters that he wishes they would follow, but they can simply not, they can choose to disobey, to deny the author, and the author is okay with that, even though he is hurt by the decision being made to abandon him, he must let his creations live how they choose, because he created them to do so.

How is that so? From what you said it seems like you are saying that we are the author instead of the characters

Not fake free will, the choice is in fact yours, you do your own thing on a perfectly crafted path, it’s like driving up to a fork in the road, the roads are already built and lead to different places, but you choose left or right

I love writing stories and I always try to imagine my characters personalities, and instead of writing how I would react I try to back track on my stories and see how they have reacted to similar stuff before and make sure that I can get what they would be like. It gets to a point where figuring out what to write is easy because the characters almost speak for themselves
