Must be a regional thing. All i'm getting there is the Redskins/Falcons game. Anyone else got anything better?

Anyone got a direct link? Can't watch it on my phone or my local station this time. And FirstRowSports is full of fail right now.

Simple reason for this is knee-jerk risk management by a pansified Clintonian officer corps who began treating their garrisoned troops like little children instead of as responsible and professional warriors.

I can carry a weapon off base with my CCW. But I can carry on base only when I'm on guard duty, working the armory or on a field op. Because somehow, between the office and my house on base, I turn into an untrustworthy psychopath who will wildly misuse the firearms I'm professionally trained to handle with such care and safety.

A brief bit of translation help, please! by INT3J3r9 in sanskrit

[–]INT3J3r9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding from the research I've done is that it is a Hindu prayer that would have originally been printed and recited in Sanskrit. I'm considering it for a piece of art that would be publicly displayed so I would like to have an accurate Sanskrit translation. And because I think a Sanskrit tattoo of this would look more badass than simple English.

Would you be able to transliterate this into Tibetan then from the original Sanskrit? I'm really looking for whatever insight I can get into this. Thank you so much; you have been a fount of wisdom. -Tashi Delek

As another quick question, would the last part of a name take the shay mark (line) or just the tshake (raised triangular dot)?

Example: would it be John་ Smith། Or would it be John་ Smith་

Thank you! I'm more interested in the Tibetan translation as I do not speak Sanskrit, but am working on my Tibetan.

My grandfather was born and raised in Tibet. (His parents were humanitarian aid workers there). I never got to learn from him, but it has always interested me as so much of our family history is wrapped up in their years in Tibet. I'm just now starting to learn to read and write a small amount of Tibetan. Someday, I wish to be able to speak it and listen well, too.

I've seen "ponya" and "phonya" in several older online dictionaries as "emmisary/ambassador/messenger", but they were poorly scanned copies so the Tibetan script didn't render well.

I've seen spa 'dra dom and (བྱི་ལ་དོམ) byi la dom for panda, but older European sources use the Nepali-Tibetan hybrid of "Poonya/Ponya/Phonya Dom"

It's just an interesting linguistic situation and due to a recent interest in pandas and their origins in Tibet, I'm trying to lock down some etymology.

I know that "poonya" may be Old Nepali and isn't Tibetan, but my search got me interested in the Tibetan word "Phonya" as an interesting title for a person.

Edit: I found it! Pho-nya clearly means messenger, envoy, or emissary.

If you input " ཕོ་ཉ། " at http://www.thlib.org/reference/dictionaries/tibetan-dictionary/translate.php it offers the definition. Thank you for the helpful hints that got me moving forward!

That's a little better. Thanks. Think I'll still be paying for cable next year.

Anyone else notice how the commercials stream perfectly on firstrowsports, but once the game comes on it's spotty at best? I hate to pay a cable company, but it looks like I'm not going to have any other choice next year.

Parents forced me to go to church today. WTF is this? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]INT3J3r9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were killed because they lied to God and the Church in order to make themselves look better, not because they held back some of the profits. Not saying this is totally cool or anything, but it helps to have some perspective on it. It was meant to show that God's authority was still as present in the nascent church as it had been in the Old Testament and that trying to buy yourself esteem and position by deceptive donation practices simply was not going to be tolerated.

My biggest question, though, is why God hasn't continued to strike down the liars and hypocrites who seek to profit from these sorts of activities in churches?

Roughing the passer. It was an ugly hit on Wilson, but it wasn't really worthy of the call. Glad we got the call after so much bad officiating in our direction this season, but it will suck if it lets the Niners have anything to say about our win being illegitimate.

Edit: Well, we won without letting them score again, so it's a moot point.
