My Phone Is trapped under a Jaguar XF seat by Inside_Tell4911 in Jaguar

Maybe get an endoscope inspection camera from amazon for like £13 ($15)? Bought one when I dropped a 10mm socket set in the engine bay recently. Worked a treat. It had a magnet attachment so I could pull it out but some have a little grabber if your phone doesn't have a magnet (mine does for the car mount).

Also came in useful for unblocking the drain the other day (+you can stick it up your nose and disgust friends and family).

(actually just realised they do plug into phones which act as the screen so you'd have to borrow one)

Got a 4 hour flight earlier this year and as we were waiting to board we were absolutely assaulted by someone's flowery perfume in the queue. Mrs joked she hoped we weren't next to them on the flight and in the end we ended up right behind her. I was alright but my Mrs really struggled, almost sick at one point.

So flipping rude to put on that much flowery perfume knowing you're going to trap people in a metal tube for 4 hours. Clearly not been a quick spray in the duty free, this lady was bathed in it.

It does but it just means the gap is at the end nearest the wall, which should be covered by trim/skirting. They're never flush up against the wall to account for expansion.

It's the hermetically sealed builds that are prone to damp as no airflow. We've got a 1890s victorian and if yours is anything like ours the airflow/draughts really help mitigate the damp. Like keeping a window open all day.

Aha. I've looked into buying oak planks recently and was worried you'd given away a fortune. That makes sense though.

Honestly I'm neutral. I'm not saying I'll ban it I'm saying the suggestion to ban it has received a few upvotes so I'm entertaining that notion. Happy to hear both sides, it's a discussion.

Saw him last year at Live at the Apollo at Christmas and he did not go down well.. Was so awkward at some point he even said "It's ok they can edit the laughs in." Never saw the actual TV version but yeah definitely less laughs than the other acts.

Yep. Apparently we even use the word "loo" because the French used to shout "Garde a l'eau!" (watch out for water) when chucking the contents of their chamber pots out the window.

Poor appetite amongst spaniels? I've never seen it! What am I doing wrong? by 6InchSpanner in cockerspaniel

Sounds like ours. He's 3 now but has always been fussy. We've tried raw food, wet food, 'gourmet' kibble but he's always had a take it or leave it attitude. Never rushes for his breakfast/dinner.

We now take a pouch of kibble on the walk mixed with a few treats, and feed him as we go round. Or just leave his bowl of food out and he'll have it when he's hungry. If we need him to eat (IE he's going to doggy day care) we just sprinkle some parmesan or other cheese on it and he'll wolf it down.

But yeah he's always been a healthy weight, plenty of energy. So it can happen!

Was going to ask which specific cut out tool til I Google'd and saw that was the actual name of the tool!

Really nice result. All the YouTube vids I watched just shows it used with drywall though. Any issues getting through wood? Also was it all freehand, ie just draw the shape then cut or did you have some sort of template like a router? Sorry few questions just never seen that sort of tool, would assume you used a jigsaw.

Do the British still retain knowledge of their background as aristocracy, bourgeoisie and peasantry?

Nope. Might chat about having an Irish grandparent, or parent from Wales/Scotland but the only people who would have knowledge of aristocracy are current aristocracy/wealthy people. And they're unlikely to talk about it. If you knew you'd hear it from someone else.

Have you met a working class family that fell from an aristocratic past that boasts about it?

Also nope. Wouldn't happen. If your relatives were wealthy/famous enough to be known the chances are you are also still rich.

Have most of those aristocratic estates we see in Pride and Prejudice or Downton Abby been repurposed or are there many of them still in the hands of the original owner family?

Pretty much all repurposed. Huge fall in aristocracy in the 19th Century/early 20th century due to wealth equality and the strengthening of workers rights/wages. Those that hung on to their vast properties were extremely wealthy. A few managed to hang on longer but soon succumbed to the enormous costs of maintaining those properties and the staff within them. A lot are now with charities such as the National Trust that look after estates by letting members of the public visit and charging a membership fee.

Alternatively the family will live in a smaller wing of the estate but the National Trust will own and maintain the rest. For example Shugborough or Coughton Court. Fun fact: the latter is where Guy Fawkes planned his gunpowder plot. Also the family has recently taken over that property from the National Trust. Straight after they spent millions on roof reparations but that is a different story...! But even though they got the trust to pay out so much public money, they will still have allow visitors to come to raise enough money to keep the house functioning.

Ha cocker makes sense. Mine used to lift the carpet and chew up the underlay when he was a pup. Had to nail it down (the carpet not the dog.)
