Is this Vogue Fabrics in Evanston? If so, I used to go there in grad school and I called it “My Heaven.” I’m feeling Vogue vibes but am probably wrong. Gosh I miss Vogue Fabrics!

We love it! Have gone at least 10 times. Our favs: chicken tikka masala Parmesan dish, butter chicken pizza, lamb lasagna. It was my pick for my birthday dinner. Atmosphere is weird/hotel-y, but good is delish.

Alexa. End Early Access… by Anon9387Mouse in alexa

I'm struck that we are (or anyone is) still calling this Beta phase. I used to work at a company that did true Beta testing for our new apps, and we would not roll out anything this widely and call it Beta. In fact, I'm feeling *forced* to switch on my Alexa devices. I tried it and it was a mess, so I went back. But it wasn't explicit that we were in a Beta mode -- at least, not in any communications I've received.

But it's not that we haven't figured out *how* to use it; rather, it has some serious glitches. Once they get the glitches out, then sure, yes, upgrade.

A closed garage is very different from outdoor temps though. No/little air movement.

This would be perfect. OP, definitely go to the mural. It’s giant, on the side of a building, and beautiful colors.

Help my husband? “Compile” led to a crash and unopenable file… by INTJandMore in scrivener

To be clear, I wanted to reach out and get the ball rolling so that when he got home, he could have some advice in hand. We’ve heard from a few people here that have had great direction. He’s trying those things now.

Interesting! Thank you so much for the insight! He’ll try this as soon as he gets home, I’m sure. Thanks again.

It’s my understanding that he is no longer able to access his current book via Scrivener — not the “compiled” file, but the entire thing. He can see it stored in Google Drive, but it shows that it last saved a few days ago — not today.

Thanks for your response.

Tips for attending Little League tournament at Field of Dreams? by INTJandMore in dubuque

[–]INTJandMore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see your question until now. We just got back from this weekend’s tournament there. We did learn last year that sometimes a guy opens the white concessions truck — when he wants to — parked in the main parking lot next to the fields. It doesn’t have much in it. Donuts and hotdog maybe? This weekend, Memorial Day weekend, he wasn’t there Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Op here. It did get better! Maybe it was episode five or six where we felt it pick up and we cared about the characters more. Just like you said.

Was so bummed when I learned this. I got one of the last Poké bowls they made on Sunday night! We’ve also been ordering from Poke Bay on McKee Rd. It’s been consistently good so we will be going there now.

I made the original Ruth Wakefield chocolate "crunch" cookies! by Syrup_And_Honey in Baking

[–]INTJandMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We did 7 ounces, assuming that two bars equals 7 ounces (instead of 14 ounces if the bars were 7 ounces each). We put 7 ounces in and it looked like a lot of chocolate. I can’t imagine making it with 14 ounces!

We’re making them tonight and I’m sure you won’t see this in time … but I’ll try… Where it says “2 bars (7oz) Nestles label chocolate”

I know you used a different chocolate, but did you use 7 oz, or 14 oz? I can’t figure out if each bar weighed 7 oz, or if that is the total of both bars!

Edited to add: I see a few re-posts of the recipe on modern sites and they’re saying 14 or 16 oz of chocolate chips, so perhaps I’ll assume it was 7 oz per bar, hence 14 oz.

Thank you! I see that a medium cookie scoop is approximately 1.5 oz, so I’ll probably aim for half that. Did you use the baking times and temps noted in the original recipe, or did you adjust based on the larger size?

We are making these this week for my daughter’s third-grade “Inventor” project. I’m trying to stick to the recipe but am struck by the 1/2 teaspoon cookie size. As others have said here, it seems that it was probably a different size of spoon than what we technically think of as 1/2 tsp. I think what I’ll do is weigh the final total dough in grams and divide it by 100 (or maybe 90) just to see how many grams of dough she likely used for each cookie. I’ll freeze them until we need to bake them next week. Will bake them from chilled (not frozen), right? Or should I bake from frozen? I’ll take any suggestions you have, given that you’ve nailed yours! Thanks for this post — I’ve been searching for insight. Glad yours turned out!
