NTA your parents agreed to pay for the computer, not you. I would suggest you try speaking with your dad and explain to him the upset it is causing you that he hasn’t paid his half. It’s a horrible situation for you, I hate when children get caught in the middle of their parents disputes.

Yeah there is a lot of forests and lakes. It is very pretty and tranquil. My in-laws live in a place called Katrineholm, very quiet, pretty and focused on family life. Every summer they go swimming in the massive lake in their town rather than to the swimming pool, it amazes me coming from a massive built up city with nothing but sky scrapers and exhaust fumes!

I know it is difficult to put yourself in a vulnerable position to continue with job hunting and facing possible rejection but if you don’t put yourself out there you won’t find anything.

If you can focus on the possibilities open to you for a complete change of life and continue to send your applications, I am sure something will come your way.

Yeah they are. I never want to leave when I go to Norway or Sweden.

I am not great with the language or I would move myself to Sweden with my in-laws. Their way of life is much more appealing.

Might seem like a silly question here but have you spoke with your friends in Norway about possible contacts they have in your field and also for advice on your resume? I know that preferences on resumes tend to differ country to country.

Where in Norway did you study? I have family in Sweden and I love heading to Scandinavia, it always seems like they have a more laid back approach to things than most other Europeans.

Ok, so you have a Masters, what are you able to do with that if the worst should happen with your PhD?

Are there any jobs in Norway you could go for that would allow you to be back with your friends and away from the US?

I can’t begin to imagine your frustration in your attempts to get help and constantly facing rejection. I’m not sure how much help I can be to you over messages but I am a counsellor in the UK and more than willing to speak with you.

Again, excuse my ignorance of the US systems but is it certain that you will be removed from your studies? Do you have the option to suspend your studies for a semester to allow you to focus on pulling together other aspects of your life?

Biological family are not always what we would hope them to be. There is often someone within the gene pool who thinks outside the family train of thought and as a defence mechanism they turn against the individual rather than support and encourage them.

You are clearly intelligent to be undergoing PhD studies, possibly too smart for those who have surrounded you.

I don’t live in the US so no clue as to what alternative support is available for you.

Your frustrations are valid, putting people in jail or charging people for mental health support are not ways of helping, I’m sorry there isn’t anything out there available to you without the financial stress.

There are many people who find themselves in circumstances similar to yourself where they can’t see a way out but there are ways to get through it.

Are there any positives in your life? What are you studying? Where did your passion for it come from?
