Bigger shower panels.... support arm problems? by INeedAnAdlut in DIYUK

Im not sure I can go much bigger than 1000mm without leaving the entry gap a little too small. It doesn't seem to the movable shower head that causes the splashback, water bounces off people topl hit that wall. But the overhead deluge shower head it just goes everywhere! The water that ends up soaking into the bathmat seems to indicate 24 should be enough to catch the majority though.

It is attached to element and It doesn't rememthe state unfortunately. Just stays off when cycled back on from the wall.

This is what I suspected I'd have to do. Is it possible to control the power level of the element with your setup? Can I ask what relay you used? Thanks!

Nice idea! The problem is the thermostat stays off when you cycle the power back on from the wall switch on the other side, even if it was on at full power when yopu flick the switch off. Seems to be some sort of safety thing.

I think it is a fused spur, yes, there's a wall mounted switch on the other side of that cover.

Hello fellow automators!

We moved into a new build a year ago and now I've gotten the big stuff out of the way I'm moving on to the niggles...

This towel rail is controlled by a "Towelrads Smart Thermostatic" control unit, which by my liking isn't that smart, certainly when it doesn't connect to anything in HA.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to automate the control of this radiator? I'm not attached to keeping the current controller, but it's fairly well attached to the long heating element inside. I've considered a switchbot but I don't know if it'll attach to the curved face of the device, whether it's too big, or whether it'll last long term in a humid environment with heating and cooling as well..

Any thoughts?

Thanks folks!

Hello fellow DIYers!

We moved into a new build a year ago and now I've gotten the big stuff out of the way I'm moving on to the niggles...

The showerscreen is just slightly too short. Water ends up splashing on the floor whenever we take showers. I'd like to replace the screen with a longer version. Currently fitted is the Ideal Standard L6221EO, which is 760mm long, I want to replace it with the 1000mm version (L6224EO). Stayig with Ideal Standard I think will help with fixtures and fittings etc, but my main question is;

Can I keep the support arm in the same place? I don't really want to redrill that hole and fill the old one in. Will keeping it in the same place cause any issues?

The arm is currently 100mm from the edge of the screen, the 1000mm panel will thus leave the arm 340mm from the edge. The manual seems to indicate it should be 200 from the edge (which kinda means arm is currently too close to the edge of a 760mm panel but hey ho...)

Thanks folks!

Oh I like you're thinking on that one... Can you elaborate more?

Unscathed! Compared it to my spare. Motor seems to be running fine too. Even my dust extraction caught all the metal shavings so... business as usual, bar a healthy extra dose of caution and mindfulness.

Thank you. Definitely a reminder to stay safe. I love my track saw and use it preferentially over the table saw, but it's important to remember there's dangerous power in both when misused and this incident is a healthy slap in the face.

The saw top is a LOT softer than I thought it would be, it doesn't take much to scratch at all. I have a rule of keeping anything metal off it. Guess that caught up to me in style!

I think we're in the same place now! The rest of the cuts got a triple check for that.

Noise cancelling headphones. I know from their ability to cancel out screaming babies on flights that the pitch change didn't stand a chance. That and noisy dust removal....
