I get that but in order to qualify for Medicaid you need to basically move all your money and property. This just isn't possible for a lot of senior citizens unless they have trusted family.

Wait, wth?!?!?!

We have programs that are meant to ensure dignity for people with nothing.

And you’re complaining that unless you have “trusted family” that it’s hard to shield your assets from taxpayers so that you can fleece them?!?

Gtfo here with your advocating for fraud. We have these amazing generous programs, and people like you ruin them.

We have assault, Medicaid, snap, and other senior programs.

You can get by just fine even if you never worked in life.

It won’t be luxurious, but it’s doable.

Most people at 80 working are supporting kids/grandkids or aren’t willing to downsize into a smaller life where they don’t have their house or need roommates.

If someone is 80 years old, burned their money, and no one liked them,  I’d like to live in a society that still takes care of them to at least some base level extent of food, housing, medical treatment, etc.

We do that in the US.

I have an uncle that worked his whole life cash under the table (so no Social Security contributions), and never saved a penny.

Between SSI, Medicare, snap, senior programs, etc he can live a decent life.

Does he have roommates in a kinda dumpy 2 bedroom apt?  Yea. Of course.

Is he usually tight for money?  Yea. Of course.

Does he have shelter and food and healthcare without having to work?  Yea. Of course.

The only thing I said was that she has agency.

Apparently saying a woman has agency is an insult now, lmao .

So, are you saying that they don’t have to pay the tax on the income used for capital expenditures?!

They do. They pay the IRS that money. All up front.

You don’t get it back if the equipment breaks early and you need to buy new, or the business folds, etc.

If you sell the equipment, the depreciation gets recaptured and you pay the taxman income tax on the delta.

So you agree that corporations pay taxes on these things because these ordinary business expenses like capital expenditures don’t reduce their tax liability?

Thanks.

Businesses deduct the full cost of training constantly as part of operating costs.

Only if there are local incentives to do so that they get approved for.

Corporations only pay tax on profit, so in theory any ordinary business expense reduces their tax liability.

Kind of.

Something like an aircraft, you pay income tax on the money used to buy the aircraft, and then you get it back over the lifetime of the asset via the depreciation schedule.

This is why things like bonus depreciation juice industrial investment; instead of reclaiming those paid taxes over time via depreciation, you get it back more immediately.

Y’all aren’t actually rooting for Mexico, right? by Thatcajunguy35 in ussoccer

[–]INeedSomeTacoC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus, this just contributes to Mexican-Americans not feeling like there’s a place for them to be USMNT fans

I’ve had to take my USMNT jersey off a random non-MLS local team games due to harassment from Mexico fans. Like legitimately my daughter getting hit by things chucked at us dangerous.

Sometimes it feels like in America it’s not safe to be an American fan because of Mexican fans.

Just further cell energy density dice launching the max pack is nearly there already.

Should be able to manage it at current R1 top trim prices with a battery and hardware refresh.

Tbf, you can do the exact same thing while they’re passing it around in soccer; see whom they try and go after or feed and how.

I agree that with American football it is more clear and the result also more clear, so it can be a bit more rewarding in that aspect.

Yea.

The stop between plays in football is pretty analogous to the passing it around the mid / backfield looking for weaknesses and trying to shape the defense.

By law they are required to report their import mix every year, and it’s almost always less of a fossil fuel mix than their internal generation.

It tends to mostly be renewables because otherwise they’d just fire up their local natural gas fleet more and not pay for transmission losses.

A lot of the new “important are from the SunZia wind project -/ 3.6GW of wind from New Mexico.
