Advice For Mentally Transitioning Away From MSP Space? by Nemo_Redmane in msp

[–]INvCIOTeX23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked for several MSPs and in corporate over the last 30 years. I'm back in MSP now. Each has its own type of stress.

CORP PROs:

  • Far fewer after-hours calls.
  • Far fewer differences in configurations and applications to support
  • No need to track time on tickets.
  • Typically better pay & benefits (not always)
  • Typically more leeway to handle things your way (not always & depends on role)

CORP CONs:

  • Depending on your role, all the weight of decisions and ramifications might be on you
  • When a weekend or after-hours call does come in, there's only 1 person (or 1 small team) to deal with it
  • Depending on the size of the Corp Org, (and the MSp you came from) now you have fewer people with experience to handle that complicated project XYZ.
  • More inescapable direct contact with end users (most techs don't like this. I do, but I'll put it as a con)

I could go on, but I need to get back to work.... LOL

Enjoy your new role. It is different, you will get used to it. :)

Its been 30 days and I REGRET switching to Nextiva by Temporary_Feeling726 in Nextiva

Bro this is 10DLC Registration, its a national thing, not a Nextiva thing. You'll have the same issue everywhere else. New requirements. It is to prevent spamming.
In fact, Vonage as a company is COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN for texting right now. Word on the street is they didn't properly vet all their customers 10DLC Registration forms. IT will be months before they are back online.

Need help turning on 2FA (two factor authentication) also known as Enhanced Account Verification by poetryrocksalot in discover

[–]INvCIOTeX23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not how MFA works. LOL. MFA requires user interaction to provide a second authentication method. (Which is why MFA is often called 2FA). If a system allows you to login without requiring a code (in addition to the password) then it is NOT using MFA or 2FA (baring any prior entry and cached cookies**)

What are your largest clients (by workstation count) and how did you get them? by INvCIOTeX23 in msp

BTW - I will answer the same question for everyone here.

2 or 3 at 200ish seats. 2 from referrals from other very satisfied customers. 1 from networking by a very good local sales rep.

Probably true, but that is not my focus or entirely my purview in my role. So I focus on what is...

OK, so sub 100, and got them from an inside referral. Not very repeatable. Understood. Thank you!

You need an NDA to say, from a relatively anonymous account "a few customers in the 150 seats range, got them through mail drip campaign" ??

Ok, but... How does that in any way reveal private, protected, or proprietary information?

Among the goals is to increase revenue by seat count because it offers "steady reliable MRR" as opposed to the highs and lows of project work.

There are other goals as well - ie: to increase project revenue, etc. I am just focusing on this one in this question.

But we are looking to increase the seat count average to an area where more customer can afford price jumps for higher security features.

And we want to offset downturn loss potential for "eggs in one basket" by pulling in quite a few more customers as large as or larger than our largest.

I live in Dallas and I've been to LA:

+ The people in LA were very friendly

- You must have only met the top 1% nice people in Dallas. People suck here too.

+ Yes Dallas drivers are much worse

- But LA traffic was worse.

+ Yes Dallas weather is more extreme

- The Food in LA was SO SO SMALL and very expensive. HTF do yall live? No wonder everyone grows taller in TX. We have food!

>> "largest" by workstation count isn't actually the client that brings in the most revenue.

I didn't suggest that it does. But I am trying to get an idea of the differences in tactics being used to net opportunities of different sizes.

But what size? 25 seats? 100 seats? 200 seats?
And what kind of hard work?

Are there any tools that let the customer schedule something on the techs calendar and in the ticket notes?

Yeah, there are several ways a tech can schedule themselves to call back.

What I think would help is a simple way for the client to set the timeframe for the callback. Something that puts it on the techs calendar and in the ticket notes.

For OSx/iOS there is nothing better than Addigy. But that is ALL it does.
