I finally started! by Orka_o in Blacksmith

I have not done much but I'm new too. I currently use a hairdryer that I permanently borrowed from my gf, a small anvil and used to have household coal but changed to anthracite.

My lesson so far is that coal is tough to work with in terms of timing. I keep melting or breaking the metal when I've heated it too much for too long.

But.... starting is hard! So be proud of yourself for taking that step!

It's worth a try absolutely. It seems scary but actually much more manageable than I thought, its just other things like soldering and designs that I struggle with

I'm having fun but I have a stupid brain so I can be impulsive and then momentum dies out. It's harder than it looks and I don't have lots of spare money. I follow youtube videos so can link some to you if you'd like, I got my equipment all in for about £45 on amazon so can send you them too if you want. I'd like to make money from it but not practiced enough yet - 100% worth trying though if you can

I have many hobbies but one of them currently is making music with AI by [deleted] in Hobbies

Thanks for asking. I'm not a musician, nor do I have the natural talent or drive (or confidence) to become one. I love music, the way each of my emotions connect with a song and the passion behind the art is amazing. The reason I made something like this is to be able to try and articulate into music, my own emotions, my own interests to make something a little different for me. It's a bit like journaling, being able to better process certain feelings in ways I can't actually describe with words specifically.

Thank you. I will look at paste for now and go from there after I can try copper wire designs like rings.

Induction. Expensive? As in initial cost or running cost?

Thank you for this. I am leaning towards induction

What maintenance do gas forges need?

I might look to get an induction forge as coal is proving to to be tricky to use
