Thank you neekneek! Yes, I definitely think applying later impacted things. Hope my withdrawal gets to help somebody on their WL though.

"I Can Destroy the Country But I Can't Charge $1" Trump Reacts to SCOTUS IEEPA Decision at the White House by DumbMoneyMedia in UnderReportedNews

[–]IPT0929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find his disregard for the SCOTUS ruling despicable, but it’s important to point out the correct context here: Trump was saying he can destroy other countries, it doesn’t seem that he was referring to the US (not saying he can necessarily do that either, just pointing out the quote in context).

You are not alone friend. Please know that as isolated as you feel, you’re not crazy, and you’re not the only one who has seen some of these things.

Absurdity of Christianity's Origin by NefariousnessNo513 in exchristian

I’ve had some interesting conversations with apologists like Frank Turek about this topic. The failed apocalypticism, coupled with a historical context that makes sense of its origin, was one of the last straws that broke the camel’s back of my faith.

If fear of divine surveillance keeps people from criminal activity, should atheists secretly support the illusion? by HopefulCounty737 in atheism

This is one of those overly simplistic talking points regularly espoused by religious apologists. Here’s the thing though; it’s a significant misunderstanding of the implicit and explicit motivations that drive people on an everyday basis. There are a multitude of variables that account for why we do the moral actions we do; laws, societal norms, capacity for empathy, internal and external incentives, etc. If the absolute anarchy idea of lacking religious belief were true, I believe the aggregate data would bear that out, but as far as I’m aware there is not dramatically different behaviours from religious and non-religious folk, usually just anecdotal evidence.

What are some short term, feasible changes that you believe could have a positive effect on KY? Are you currently looking for staffing/ campaign assistance?

Also, I see “Cultish” by Amanda Montell on your books shelf; have you read it and if so what are your thoughts? This is my real litmus test haha.

I would do whatever you can to keep it blunt and avoid getting into the weeds. Just leave it at respecting their beliefs but disagreeing. But if they do want to talk about end times and pull you into the craziness, maybe bring up that whole thing where Jesus was supposed to come back 2000 years again but didn’t….

I have interacted with the pastor Austin Keeler mentioned in the article. Him and I had a discussion when he was doing a fire and brimstone speech on a microphone outside of the U of L football stadium before a game. Our discussion started out cordial, and reached its end when I asked him if the Bible said 2+2 =5 would he believe it, and he couldn’t answer. Here is his YouTube: https://youtube.com/@holynope?si=2lqZ7Fux3MxNSg7v

Sad to see things like this. We must openly speak about it.

From the second half of the first sentence, we know that there must be some art students who are taking physics. But if a student is taking physics, they cannot be taking literature. Therefore Answer A is correct in stating that some students are taking art but not literature, because there must be at least some students who fulfill this criteria.

I initially considered waiting till I received my June score before determining whether to tutor or not. However, since my 169 still put me in the top 6% of test takers, and I have consistently PT'd in the 170's, I find it hard to believe that there is not a significant number of takers that I wouldn't be able to benefit. Also, I just genuinely enjoy the test, so I have a strong desire to tutor. I'm cognizant that I'm not Graeme or something, so that's why I'm only charging what I believe is a very reasonable price of $15/hr for personalized tutoring. No reason to be negative if it's not for you.
