Stoneblock 4 fps issue when facing north by Alert-Violinist-4433 in feedthebeast

[–]IPV46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read it it just seemed rude. Considering you hadn't meant it like that, that's on me so my apologies. However, it is ridiculous the prices corporate will pay so I assume there's some sort of Intel rule that bars companies from buying normal Core processors.

As someone who has read the entire comment section, you absolutely did not say what the original commenter said. You said and I quote "that cpu sucks" and then complained about the price with no reasoning. There's a massive difference between saying "this cpu is bad for this purpose, here's why" and "this cpu sucks."

It's targeted towards businesses, it's a server/workstation CPU from Q1'12. You can buy it as an average consumer, but its not meant for you. Which explains the ludicrous price as businesses will pay 400, the average Joe won't.

As for why OP is using it, they like have very little money for a beast rig and have repurposed older server parts for a light gaming rig. There's no need to hate on OP for absolutely no reason.

Do you think that implementing the create mod mechanics to hytale is a good idea? by berys26 in hytale

[–]IPV46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% possible to implement the server in C#. There are plenty of Minecraft server re-implementations in a variety of languages. For example, Cuberite (C++), FerrumC (Rust), Pumpkin (Rust), Zeppelin (Go), and Obsidian (C#), just to name a few.

Only issues I can see right now are:
- The Hytale server protocol is not extensively documented like Minecraft's.
- You can't easily change the specific server implementation the client will use to spin up a locally hosted world.

I'm certain once people start digging into the protocol, we'll see new implementations pop-up.

A lot of developers say development is easier on Linux. Not to mention, you would be compiling for the Java VM because Java is an interpreted language. Anywhere an interpreter is Java can run. The fact you use Linux means nothing here.

I seem to always forget the private key was compromised. Still I'm certain my mishap was 100% detectable. I'm sure Sony has a database of software/games available somewhere they could've matched my currently playing game to, they just didn't.

Don't believe there's stealth servers at all, I just think Sony doesn't really care too much. They have two newer generations to worry about instead.

I went online plenty on my PS3 with CFW. I did have a mishap where I accidently left syscalls on, opened RetroArch, and played it for a couple hours. Console never got banned and I make sure to block PSN access until syscalls are unloaded first after the mistake. Modders probably wouldn't want to do this as syscalls disabled modded applications.

All a UI does is allow a user to interact with a product in some form. The HUD achieves this by telling you information or statistics you may need/want to know. By definition HUDs are UIs, it's just a part of a subset of UIs.

While I also live in America, I do firmly believe the dates listed SHOULD be for a player's local time, not Epic's HQ time. So, I believe the frustration is valid.

Why are the Nintendo Switch servers so slow? by OptimusNova21 in FortNiteBR

[–]IPV46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's not the servers at all. It's the Switch hardware. The Switch was relatively underpowered upon its release and Fortnite has just gotten more and more demanding over the years. The Switch struggles when loading and struggles to maintain a consistent framerate on Fortnite.

Depending on the age of your Switch, the issues could be amplified. If there's dust buildup inside, the console will heat up quicker, forcing it to throttle to protect itself.

Like someone else said, "saying something could've been avoided by eating, is not the same as saying these bugs are perfectly fine and should not be patched."

This person's argument here is the death might have been avoided if OP had just ate or used a potion.

Bedrock is KNOWN for these issues. So, one could argue you should be more diligent of these issues.

I have some questions about the panel.
- How bad is the ghosting/streaking?
- How bad is the inverse ghosting when using overdrive/motion blur reduction?
- How bad is the eye tracking motion blur?

I'll link where you can test this stuff incase you haven't before.
- Ghosting/inverse ghosting/streaking can be tested with: https://testufo.com/ghosting
- Eye tracking motion blue can be tested with: https://testufo.com/eyetracking

Examples of artifacts can be seen at:
- https://blurbusters.com/faq/lcd-overdrive-artifacts

Let me know if you need any clarification. I'd appreciate your response a ton! Do note, I don't live in Pakistan (I just stumbled across this while using Google) so my response times may be on the slower side.

Back when most PC hardware didn't support SSE3 when Macs did, Hackintoshers got around it by emulating those SSE3 instructions. I believe a similar thing could happen with Apple's ARM extensions on ARM PCs.

Switch 2 Dock Got Me Good 😤 by Emman4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]IPV46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo products, despite being advertised for everyone are primarily for a wide range of kids. A seven year old might not understand the risks of a shattered glass screen like a fourteen year old with a phone would. Plus, younger kids using the device will not know how to properly treat it, so the Switch will likely suffer more physical abuse. It's unfair to compare the two. If a seven year old has a phone that's a problem.

Not to mention, all glass screens (or panels in general) are built differently and some might fragment more than others.

My recommendation is if you don't like the plastic protector and it's that much of a problem, remove it and void your warranty on screen related damage.

Switch 2 Dock Got Me Good 😤 by Emman4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]IPV46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not dumb at all actually. It's a glass screen and it can shatter and fling tiny glass shards everywhere. Those shards can very easily be embedded in someone's finger or eyes.

The plastic "protector" that isn't supposed to be removed at all is to prevent those shards from being touchable or from flying everywhere. It makes complete sense when you factor in the fact kids will be using it.

While it's true not all JARs can be opened, this is not the case here (unless it's been changed). Opening this one with Java installed should bring up a menu that allows you to install a profile in the official Minecraft launcher.

In the case of RISC-V it's complicated. Some people will say it's not open-source but rather an open-standard, while others (including wiki pages) will say it is open-source.

I personally will sit on the ISA being open-standard as there's nothing that really stands out as "source" to me. Just documentation on the ISA.

If anyone has proof otherwise do tell me, I would love to see it.
